    Which one?

According to hundreds of previous posts on this Forum over many years, one risks one's sensibilities by comparing Chuck Norris to ANYONE.
  2. I've ALWAYS been a fan of westerns--and guns--and cable TV offers the Encore Westerns channel. Yay! I even began reading Louis L'Lamour westerns last year, thanks to a substantial supply of them in our Jail library, AND the recommendation of several inmates and a couple of deputies.
  3. I just saw this very TV episode on "Death Valley Days" yesterday! Ronald Reagan played the attorney who gave this quoted speech at the end of the trial scene. It's a bit of a tear-jerker of a speech, but very poetically written, as was often the style in those days.

    Spark

Some research on my part indicatesdthat the active ingredient in this stuff is caffeine, much the same as some other drinks, though less than some. Still, the dosage equivalent of an eight-ounce cup of coffee.
  5. Oh, and feel free to post a photo when you can!
  6. Dreams seem to be just another level of our lives' reality. Freaky and creepy sometimes, though. Especially when they leave a funny taste in your mind that is hard to get rid of the following day. Some of the dreams I've had have made me intensely uncomfortable for longer than a day. That's hard to take. I did dream once that I was standing on a stage (looked like the Berkeley Community Theatre) talking to Bill Graham. I was, in this scenario, the manager of the Rolling Stones and we were discussing arrangements for an upcoming performance. I was on Cloud Nine for days after THAT dream. Seriously.
  7. A big congratulations to all of you!
  8. It means you'd better not stand outside in it for long without mega-protective clothing.
  9. And a greeting from the Awesome Possum is, well, just plain awesome!
  10. Thank you, gentlemen! I think today involves chocolate candy AND yet another day of playoff football.
  11. Actually, living in Anchorage was quite tolerable. It's Fairbanks that's close to intolerable. And the North Slope is another story altogether.
  12. Envison me rolling my eyes to the max. And, no, I haven't received one of these absurdities for years, either. My spam catcher is probably that aggressive. Thankfully.
  13. On the other hand, there were two special sports sections in the morning newspaper today: one was all Ducks, of course, but the other was entitled "Ducks & Bucks," and I could see that as the promotional phrase of the next several days. Go Ducks.
  14. Need I say, "Go Ducks!!!"
  15. I was stunned about the snow in southern California this week. We've had our share of the Canadian air up here, though, with three nights in a row at about 20-23 degrees of low (we've had worse). And not much higher during the day (it's 32 right now). But sunny as heck and DRY. That doesn't make it easier to bear (don't give me that "it's a dry cold" line), and we're due for a significant warmup by week's end. Weather up here in winter can be all over the map in terms of temps and conditions, so I have no serious gauge by which to judge what we're experiencing at the moment (other than my 22 years of living here). The cold isn't so bad if you're standing out in the sun, but if you're in the shade and there's the least bit of wind, you're frozen toast. An when we DO have these cold spells, the wind comes right out of the north--you can all but smell the glacial ice . . .
  16. Gah, that's so incomprehensible! (Not unlike the earlier Honda motorcycle manuals translated from Japanese---by God knows who.)
  17. . . . not to mention Christmas television advertising!!!
  18. Christmas music (and Musak), it's a form of torture.
  19. After 18 months, your $60, and black-hole customer service, I'd just blow it off and buy a new watch (for less) and go with that. Sometimes the frustration and stress just isn't worth it. Although it may not help you any, I bought a watch at Wal*Mart about 15+ years ago for $9.95 (probably about $20 in today's money), have replaced the battery just twice, it's waterproof to 100 feet in depth, shell and band made in China, movement made in Japan. It's literally the most reliable watch I've ever owned and keeps perfect time. And the face is readable without my glasses (that's nearly the most important part).
