  1. I think I've seen some of his students at the range.

    Home defense

Funny and scary at the same time.
  3. Thanks for the insight into the thinking of the rule makers. Personally, I don't think being different for the sake of being different is a good enough reason. I would love it if the various disciplines could come to an agreement on the basic range commands. It would make life easier on those who shoot IDPA and USPSA. I guess some are happy with the rift and wish to increase it.
  4. Many of the rules seem to be completely arbitrary. Someone decides "I don't like kneepads" and so the rule is no one can wear kneepads. No rhyme or reason beyond personal preference.
  5. Does anyone have any idea why the powers that be felt that this rule was necessary? What unsafe, unsportsmanlike or unfair action was supposed to be eliminated by this rule? I'm just at a loss as to the thinking behind rules like this.
  6. I think there is a rule that says when cover is available you must use it. If you reengage targets after leaving cover and the COF didn't call for that I think you get a PE for not using cover. Then maybe another one for the advancing while reloading. I think you make a good case for a PE for not using available cover.
  7. I understand what you're saying but the scenario I presented would have all the threats neutralized and the shooter advancing while shooting extra shots simply to empty the gun and take the opportunity to reload on the move.
  8. tbarker13 hit the nail on the head. If you were behind cover while firing the last shot you may not advance until you reload. Now, if you had neutralized all the threats before leaving cover and then fired extra, unneccessary shots while advancing...... I don't know. There's no rule against round dumping now, is there? Could be FTDR.
  9. The gas masks were a nice touch.

    Interview

Wow, that one guy was TICKED!
  11. Oh yeah? Well, I, ahhh, er, ahhh , you , well, - I know you are but what am I ( or something...)
  12. I usually shoot the top first then go to the highest on one side or another. Once you shoot that one it starts to spin and I just wait and try to ambush them as they come by.
  13. If it's obviously a non-essential part (sights, slide racker, etc.) or if the shooter stops shooting and picks up the part to make a repair I definitely think he should be allowed to repair if necessary and continue if it's safe. A slide lock doesn't fail in a vacuum. It is subjected to severe stresses and it's designed to distribute those stresses to both sides of the frame. A broken slide lock may continue to function for a while but the stresses that broke it in two will now be concentrated on the remaining part and there's no way to know how long it can withstand that stress. I believe it's a safety issue.
  14. Authorization to stop the shooter: (from the correct rule book this time ) 8.3.5 “Stop” – Any Range Officer assigned to a stage may issue this com- mand at any time during the course of fire. The competitor must imme- diately cease firing, stop moving and wait for further instructions from the Range Officer. 5.1.6 Handguns must be serviceable and safe. Range Officers may demand examination of a competitor’s handgun or related equipment, at any time, to check they are functioning safely. If any such item is declared unser- viceable or unsafe by a Range Officer, it must be withdrawn from the match until the item is repaired to the satisfaction of the Range Master. If the Range Master inspects the firearm and is willing to allow the competitor to continue with it in that state I think he should get a reshoot. If the Range Master requires it to be repaired before continuing it should be scored as shot.
  15. I am curious as to what rule you base this on? Later, Chuck (A victim of 2 trigger return springs and one slide stop in one season...) Maybe 2.12.7."Stop - This command is given when something unsafe has happened or is about to happen during a stage, or when something in the stage is not correct." When parts are falling off your gun I think it's reasonable to believe something unsafe has happened or is about to happen.
