  1. Frank, yo uthe guy that lost his front sight? I had a great time, didn't shoot as well as I had hoped made some mental foo-bars, but I came out a little more educated. I keep looking at those limited and open guys and think how nice it would be to shoot and not reload as often. But for now I'll stick with my single stack. Great Match guys!
  2. Well ready or not I leave for area 3 in the morning. it's just a 6 hour drive across the state but boy takes forever. It'll be my first big match so just gonna try and make my hits and shoot clean. See you guys when I get back hopefully I'll have some photos to post.
  3. give her a trip to the spa and you a new .40 for remembering.......
  4. Thanks for the replies, I'm just looking for a little extra grip I run a kimber 1911 with VCD grips and a grip tape front strap. I was mostly looking for something to keep my hands dry. I bowled for years maybe I'll break out my rosin bag and give it a try.
  5. J-Ho, I know what she uses and I think I'll stay with the synthetic stuff.
  6. I see guys using alot of different things to help keep their grip in hot humid sweaty conditions. What works best to keep your grip?
  7. I run a lyman pro magnum 2500 with auto flo, is it the best for the money, I don't know but I do know I can turn nearly a 1000 rounds of 45 at a time. For the auto flo to work you do need a set of muffs and a little time but I don't have to sift through two gallons of media to find my brass. Just remove the lid turn on the unit and stir with my hand while the media drains into a bucket.
  8. golf is a very popular sport (even though I don't play), millions play it and find it fun, relaxing, challenging and competive and I would compare our sport to theirs any day. They are both sports where you are competing against your self, it's not a team sport. You go out do the best that you can for that day and then at the end, you compare your day to everyone elses. So if a person is a golf lovin' type and likes guns they'll love our sport.
  9. OK I'm shooting my first area match where they will run my load through a chrony, so i want to make sure all is well but i don't own a chrony. has anyone ran a 200grn lswc out of a 5" barrel with 5.0gn of tite group? If so what where you pushing?
  10. I had no troubles getting the stages, just wish I knew how far those long shot options on stage 5 were, they might change the way I think that one.
  11. Thanks forthe advice guys, believe me I have been working on loading the pouches as fast as I can. I run a comptac belt feed and for some reason loading it just feels slow so i figured I'd brouse around for a faster solution.
  12. Thanks, that is good to know, so it would have to be in addition to my normal mag pouches. now I just need to find out if magnets are g2g or not.
  13. OK There is an area championship coming up in a couple months and one of the stages you have to open a door to retrieve your gun and mags that you will need for the stage. it is a 32 round stage so I need the mag in the gun as you start loaded and then 4 mags on the table. I am thinking of switching from my mag pouch to 4 magnets for this stage so i can just slap the mags on and go, that should be faster then trying to fill the mag pouch. So would magnets mag holders be legal for SS? I have read the rules over and over it states wear pouchs must be wore and that mags can be retreived from pockets but says nothing about magnetic mag holders? What do you guys think, is it do able?
  14. Yeah your right I have good friends that are more then willing to help out, but boy it's just not the same...... I keep telling the "BOSS" I need a limited gun so when my SS is down I can still come out and play....lol. She sayes yup as soon as she has everythin she wants then I can get go get that. I guess I'll just start saving my lunch money and not tell her about it.
  15. Well, I'm going on Two weeks with no gun. I find myself wondering if I made the right call. My Kimber started acting up so i shipped it off the Wilson for some work and a few new add on's. But that means no practice. They say I'll get my gun back the first part of July, the Area 3 match is the 1-2 of August. That doesn't leave me much time to practice. It kind of sucks being a one gun wonder but my credit cards wont let me buy another right now....darn bills. any ways the waiting sucks. I sure hope this month flies by.
  16. OK, Course of fire calls for gun loaded and ALL mags for stage to be on table, I shoot single stack and its a 32 round stage so I'll want gun and 4 mags on the table (plus the one in the gun makes 5)... do I have to replace mags into my mag pouches to start can they just be put into a pocket? what is the best way to handle this? Thanks ~Duck
  17. yes Ricky is the best of all times. Now on a shooting note. I'm learning the competition thing as I so with Nationals is there a competitive trail that leads to nationals like a motocross circuit or a fishing tournament trail. or is it a first come first serve get a slot and shoot type deal? None the less 15 in a row is amazing.
  18. So I've got some old grips laying around an dI was going to play around with them by texturing them and painting them what find of paints can handle the wear? They are a plastic, polymer type grip. Thanks ~ Get'em Duck
  19. With Brass getting harder to find and costing more, I guess it would pay to be an RO at a match like that. A 350 round match with 150 shooters would be 52,500 pieces of brass (plus the brass from guys like me who don't hit with every shot)
  20. That makes since giving the RO a perk for his time. But boy that kinda sucks..... oh well the price to pay the game. Thanks Guys
  21. I'm new to these comp scene and I'm learning as I go. But why is there lost brass matches? I'll be heading out to the area III championship this year. can I plan on walking away leave 300 rounds of brass there or will they let one police their brass? I never expect to go home with it all but some would be nice.
  22. Have you thought of dropping bullet weight? Just a thought but a 200 grn bullet would recoil less then a 230 I shoot 200grn LSWC with 5.1 grn of Tite Group. I've never chronyed it but guess I should.
