Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. With an expression like that, no one would suspect a thing.
  2. If you go with the tripp, make sure you get the STI specific ones. from tripp's site: STI Statement - Please Read STI single stack 1911 pistols have a higher mag catch ledge and take a special version of the CobraMag. Use an STI suffix behind the part number to order for these pistols.
  3. IIRC the brass is "rolled" between two plates giving uniform diameter top to bottom. Real handy for the glockafied brass. The roller is pricey. ..almost $500 for one caliber. Here's a link to the tool you need. http://www.casepro.net/ you can also buy roll sized brass http://www.competitionbrass.com/index.html
  4. I experience mirrors what openshooter said. I had the EGW undersized die, and during the upstroke after belling/powder charge, the funnel was "sticking" to the brass. It could have also been from the Lee FCD I was using. On my other press, which has a redding sizing die and an FCD, the brass was sticking to the FCD on the upstroke. I've also read of one person breaking the carbide ring out of the FCD, which smoothed up the strokes. Defeats the purpose of the FCD if you ask me. oh well, differ'nt strokes. "they got theirs, your got yours, and I've got mine . . . ."

  7. ah, I see. Tripp has a pretty good explaination for what may be your problem. http://www.trippresearch.com/feature/angulargap.htm Keep the round config constant and experiment with round height via mag catch and different mags. If that don't work, you might have to look into your feed ramp and/or barrel throat geometry. You might even get some results experimenting with recoil spring wt. Sorry Barron45 for the drift, but hopefully this will help explain some of the reviews you read about the Trojan. The 1911 forum has quite a few stories about problems with the trojan, and many are related to mag-catch/mag combos.
  8. from what I've read and from what the guys at tripp have told me, you can just swith out the mag catch to a standard one (wilson, brown, etc.) and use standard non-STI-specific mags. You still want to check if that top round is hitting the ejector during reloads from slide lock. KennyD, the 10th round nose dives for every one of your tripp mags? And is that an SVI mag well on your Trojan?

    Big guns

Definitely won't fit in the box.
  10. yeah, they'll fit the 1911 single stack mags and the glocks, but I don't really like the setup for the single stack mag. You have to use spacers to get them to fit, increasing the space in the rear of the pouch to push the mag up against the front. For the slim single stack mag, the spacer pushes it up so far that the spine of the mag doesn't line up with the notch made for your index finger. It may not seem like a big thing for some, but it was enough to make me switch 'em out for some 771's. If you're looking for one pouch for all, the versa pouch is pretty much your only choice.
  11. a true rpf'er. . . how'd I know you'd have such a clever reply for this thread. hehe . . .a Kobold Flash timer.
  12. since you're thinking tripp mag, trojan combo, don't forget to order the STI type ones if you're using STI's mag catch. The STI tripp mags have their mag catch notch a little higher to work with the STI mag catch. I talked to the guys at tripp n' they say that people have had success just changing out their mag catch to a standard aftermarket mag catch in order to work with standard, 1911 mags (tripp, wilson, etc). A good thing to know if you're using the same mags on different pistolas. Also, the tripp mags available through brownells are the standard 1911, non-STI mags. Found 2 cents worth of info, so I just thought I'd share.
  13. I hope I'm not the only one here wondering this, but . . . what's the right way?
  14. sorry bro, I thought I linked the specific page. It's the one for the para mags. Got one. It works just fine.
