  1. From Florida's website: Eligibility Requirements You must be 21 years of age or older. You must be able to demonstrate competency with a firearm. Unless you are serving overseas in the United States Armed Forces, you must currently reside in the United States (US) AND be a US citizen or deemed a lawful permanent resident alien by Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS). If you are serving overseas in the US Armed Forces, submit a copy of your deployment documentation with your application. If you are not a US citizen, submit documentation issued by the USCIS proving you are a permanent legal resident alien with proof you have resided in the state of residence (as shown on your application) for at least 90 consecutive days prior to the date the application is submitted.
  2. Shop in Bossier City (La) made a Fla call today to ask about the 140 applicants from his recent CWP classes and approximately 60 renewals. He was told the renewals are being worked ahead of new applications. This would included resident and non-resident renewals. If you have applied for a concealed weapon or firearm license, you can check the status of your application by calling our Public Inquiry Section at (850) 245-5691.

  4. I ordered from MG for the first time in February. Bought a case each of 357, 40 & 45. My credit card was charged at the time of my order, as the website indicated. I didn't call, email or had any concern...I just waited. My only issue was with our small rural post office. I had no clue how much 3 cases of bullets weighed and the post office called and asked if I would come down and pick up a package as it was too heavy to carry in my carrier's small car. Thankfully, the po had a hand truck which I used to move from the loading area there and once I got home to get the order in the garage. I plan on being repeat(ing) customer of MG.
  5. Kyle: I can't speak about resident permits. The delays I've heard about are for non-resident new and renewals.
  6. Alberto: Welcome to the forum and the addictive hobby of reloading. Read loading manuals, the ABC's of Reloading and the instruction manual. Take luck out of the equation completely, before you ever pull the handle on your 550. You made a great choice for your first press. By all means be safe and then you can enjoy!
  7. The indoor range, that holds CWP classes every other Sunday, mentioned that the class from end of December just received their permits and only 3 from the first January class had theirs. Florida has had to hire additional data input types to handled the overwhelming requests that began in November '08.
  8. Honda will be my next purchase. My Snapper is a '92 model and still used weekly -- almost 52 weeks a year down here. I will agree the Toro Recycler with personal pace is great buy also. Change oil as recommended, do not...do not overfill oil level/ Change the air filter every time you change oil, except for the first change. I purchase the filters by the case. Cheap costs compared to premature engine problems. Like the old Fram oil filter commercials said...pay me now or pay me later.
  9. Especially since his shop and range is only 15 miles away.
  10. Agree with Alamo...Tom Gresham had Jim Jr. on his show the past Sunday and when I saw the topic my insides dropped.
  11. 1.1.5.1 Level I matches may use shooting boxes and specify where or when specific target arrays may be engaged, and may specify mandatory reloads in short and medium courses only (not in a long course). Sentence structure does not come into play here. Although I have no experience with the course or shooting events I interpret the rule as saying: Level I matches may use shootiing boxes and when used, specify where and when certain target arrays may be engaged. Level I matches may specifiy mandatory reloads in courses other than a Long course. IMHO
  12. Thankfully I've never been subjected to the 'only can have one' and own several S&W revolvers. I also have 3 Colt Python safe queens and a couple of Rugers. Since you are looking for opinions, here is mine. As far as versatility, the 686 or 586 (if they still make them in blue) would be my choice for the following reasons: 1. S&W has the most available after market accessories, parts and upgrades. Gunsmiths for tuning and modifications are readily available in most, if not all, areas. 2. The 686 can accomodate 38 and 357. The .38 is far cheaper to use, than 357 and either caliber is much less expensive than 45acp. This hold true whether you purchase factory or reload. The .38's make great practice and target ammo. The .357 is an excellent defensive round. 3. Used 686's are available and would be an excellent choice, although I fully understand owning a gun that you were the 1st person to put a round through it. S&W revolvers have great resale value, which for the purchaser might not be ideal, but if you decided to sell it and purchase something else, you could expect a good fair market price in the future. Others have mentioned Ruger and the warranty repair issue and still others have recommended the S&W 625. The 625 is a great gun in 45 acp but finding one is a bit difficult in today's market. Whatever you decide, be safe.
  13. I've been subjected to the golytely, halflytely and colonoscopy since 2003 prostatectomy. I finally graduated to the see you in 3 years in 2006 after enduring an every 3 month, then 6 month then 12 month routine. There is nothing you can add to that foulest tasting salt water to make it palitable. Thankfully they finally starting allowing you to put it in the fridge. I chug-a-lug it because once I stop drinking it, my mind won't let start drinking again. I get demerol and vercet and I agree it is the best stuff pharmacies have built. Wake up with one of those oven warmed blankets and I'm ready to stay. My wife, who sees the same colorectal doc as I do, gets the pills (24 of them) to drink with ginger ale. Asked why I can't have the pills instead of the juice, doc said because I don't like you as well and you are too full of sh-T. Get the test guys, get PSA tests beginning at 45, earlier if you have family history of prostate cancer. The ultra-sound and biopsy procedure on prostate isn't the most thrilling thing to do, but once the lydocaine is finished being administered, you just hear rubber bands snapping.
  14. Okay, I'll bite. Is a chamber checker aka case gauge?
  15. Not to get into molecular physics, but metal shrinks when cooled as the molecules are binding more closely together. Since the sight is smaller in mass compared to the slide, it will 'shrink' more quickly and reduce microscopically more than the slide.
  16. Someone tested that a while back and found it didn't always work....sometimes not at all. No idea why, but I read it I get the idea that if the WD40 would evaporate and the primer is dry again that it may be a hazard. In all my reading in the forum and Dillon's website, WD40 soaking was always suggested on primers. When primers stuck in pickup tubes or in the primer tube on the press, I remember reading to flush the tube with WD40 and toss in the trash, call Dillon for replacement. I could be totally off here.
  17. Hate to snow drift in this thread....pun intended. I lived up your way for awhile. Working in Kansas City and even lived in a place called Pittsburg, Ks. Taking an good old boy from Baton Rouge and moving him up north was quite an experience for the first winter. Always thought if Mother Nature put it down, she could take it away. Doesn't quite work that way on driveways, sidewalks and decks. You drive on it enough and you are stuck with ice until late March! I thought global warming had eliminated snow...now back to the thread topic!
  18. http://www.proxarms.com/mgwsightadjustment...ampp-p-703.html or http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/comme...category%3DSMWE Or, go to local hardware store and purchase one of those brass sliding door locks...old fashion with long piece of half round brass about 3-4" long with a handle that slides into a corresponding channel mounted on door trim....shape one end to match the front sight dovetail. What is this thing called snow?
  19. Go to a good office furniture supply store. I had a chair mat that was actually 1 1/2" thick by 4' wide and 4' deep (not including tongue that positioned underneath desktop) It was made of wood, stained and sealed (like oak flooring) and tapered on 3 edges down to carpeting/floor. It was a designed to keep the heavy executive chairs rolling and not tear up carpeting below. I haven't googled it, but I have to imagine they are still available. Steve
  20. What I hate beside primer shortage is the fact I ordered 2k SP & 2K LP CCI's from Cabellas three weeks ago. Everything on backorder, of course. I clicked tab to indicate ship when all items are available. UPS delivery this am, rather large box and since primers were the only thing I've ordered from Cabellas, I knew it was the primer order. Cut open the first box to find another large but smaller box inside. Opened that box that was stuffed with paper and found one flat of 1K CCI LP. Nothing else inside. Packing slip indicated my cc was charged total amount of order yet received 1/4th. Call to Cabellas to find out what and when on balance and told them that I was not going to pay any additional haz-mat fees for piece meal shipments. Long pause....hello?....."Do you wish to cancel the balance of order?"....No 'mam, I want the balance of the order shipped together and I will not be responsible for any additional charge....Long pause...."well okay, sorry for not receiving your order as you indicated"....
  21. Model P Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter?
  22. Magnum primers, whether small or large, increase temperatures to facilitate ignition and burning powder in magnum cases and are suggest for certain ball & spherical powders. Magnum primers when substituted for regular, will increase pressure. Therefore your loads should be reduced accordingly.
  23. Mike: Welcome to the forum. I don't want to sound like the hall monitor as I am new here too. I really suggest reading the New Member threads and tips using the search function. Cleaning brass topics are everywhere and here is a recent one: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...c=79873&hl=
  24. I really dislike someone talking to me genitally. Too much distraction.
  25. BB: Coarse is a bit smaller than lentil, that is if I remember my lentils. Check Harbor Frieght ad here: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/disp...temnumber=92150 They sell the 'fine' too.
