    What is Zen?

The fool knows many things, and talks about them endlessly. The sage knows that one can not know that one knows and remains silent unless asked for an opinion which is all that is possible Lao Fzu
  3. also look into .22 squirrel THAT is an impressive little bugger. The HMR's I have owned like a cleaner barrel than my standard 22lrs. I would clean my cooper about every 250rds to maintain the accuracy and even then that was only to make sure I wasn't having any issues. Normal cleaning consisted of wet patches of sweets and then dry patches until clean and clear and then one pass with a wet patch of butch's bore conditioner and then patch that out. isaac
  4. I bet your students do well with that kind of easy to assimilate and apply info. Put that in my mental bag of tricks
  5. my coopers always shot GREAT with the Hornady factory load with the VMAX bullet. .50" or less at 100yds off a bipod and bag. midway usually has the best stocking and price.
  6. Outstanding info! MLM and all It makes sense to me to use less pressure with my strong hand so that I can control trigger pressure. I will have to practice this a bit tomorrow in live fire and see what I can see. Thanks!!!! Isaac
  7. I read a thread the the other day about the personality types and how that may or may not translate into gripping the gun. Still very much a naive new guy so I always thought nearly equal pressure with both hands holding the gun. I tried the 70% weak hand 30% strong hand hold and a couple different variations. I would rather be fundamentally sound than comfortable so is there one right way to grip? Or more importantly, a wrong way? I feel like if I have a death-grip on the gun it gives me fore-arm pump as well I feel like I am rushing the gun back on target rather than letting it fall "naturally". Isaac
  8. The .243 will outwork both of them but at the cost of replacing a barrel nearly twice as often as the .260 and 6.5x47. I had a 6.5 in an F-class rifle and I would reach for that everytime over the .260. Like adam mentioned the brass is a bitch to buy to start with but once you do you are in the door. Some people get twice as many reloads out of their 6.5x47 brass as .260 with annealing. Also the 6.5 has less recoil. I haven't drank the Hornady cool-aid. Isaac
  9. patriot arms little b*****d brake would get my vote
  10. acetone and a soldering iron tip, used not too close together , will get that gummy stuff off of there. I believe it is Holland Gunsmithing that makes a spring kit to fix the x-mark's issues and brings them down to a crisp 2.5lbs ish...
  11. if you can find a used one the sightron big sky II scopes are AWESOME! for the money. Bearbasin.com used to sell the 6-24x42 for 499, I haven't checked recently but the clarity and tracking is second to none! isaac
  12. when I used to shoot center fire a lot I wouldn't clean my barrels until they were good and dirty usually upwards of 2500 rounds or more. CBS went right where all the others did when I was shooting for groups.
  13. shocking that george would blame it on something other than his rifles... Anywho, it is very possible they chambered it with a new reamer that has a very tight tolerance so factory loaded ammo doesn't want to chamber easily. Usually I would say you are using old brass that needs to be neck turned to chamber correctly but if it is new factory loaded ammo I would blame the rifle. isaac
  14. I had my blade-less lasik done one year ago this week, I am currently 20/15 in both eyes. I was the first person to "try" the blade-less flap-maker so I was fortunate enough to get that part of my surgery for free I tell everyone that is considering lasik to stop considering and just do it! it is the greatest deal and the best money I have EVER spent. Isaac
  15. FWIW, the average human eye sees green 6 times more than red so a green sight would technically be more visible than a red FO. Food for thought and the non-colorblind.
  16. matt, when the day comes two words, markins and gitzo Something that I learned very early on is buy the best tripod once, cry once and never look back. My gitzo will hold a 13yr old girl and smile and keep coming. The tripod is feasibly the one piece of your kit that will never wear out so get a good one from the get go. 6x-series gitzo. Isaac
  17. on the buck mark, some of the newer models have little nubbin's machined into the slides so that it makes it much easier to rack the slide back, mine, although new, does not have these Also, on mine the trigger flip is either being done at the factory or I just got a good one because the trigger on mine was 2.5lbs from the factory. I did the spring flip and it was 10lbs
  18. :rolleyes:Ken, Most likely it was something like this? I have a Buckmark with the tactical solutions barrel on it for my wiff. It shoots alright at 25yds with CCI SV but nothing like the VQ ruger I used to have. The buckmark works great as a steel gun though and is worlds less expensive and much much lighter than the VQ Isaac
  19. Wouldn't they be less useful for Limited due to the guns ability to handle the major PF? This may only apply to 9mm major in one of these pistols but I am curious.. Thanks!

    The AKC

Vegas I forgot about the GSD!!! Sloping back dogs that don't live past 6 or 7 without being completely crippled from hip problems.
  21. I keep hearing mention of a car in this video?? Didn't see it.

    The AKC

I love Mary and have owned a couple of her bloodline, great great dogs

    The AKC

I hate the AKC, yes, the American Kennel Club. An organization responsible for the bastardization and ruin of many many great breeds of dogs. Take the Labrador retriever for one, the "english" pointer for another. They super-size or minimize breeds and modify their genetics in ways to make them more "presentable" at shows. Give me a "field" lab or pointer any day and I will show you a dog with more smarts, better health and a better chance at living longer than any show dog around. Boo AKC. Isaac
  24. whilst certainly not a expert I really enjoy shooting our buckmarks with the tac-sol barrels on them. The recovery with the 7" barrel and a docter is very fast, with the added bonus of being able to put pink grips on my wifes isaac
