  1. I think this is the MOST important thing said so far. These are things everyone must continue to work on. Preston
  2. Sounds like a nice guy with quality results! Preston
  3. But I like reloading! Reloading variably makes the game more fun to me. Am I alone on this? Preston
  4. If I have it right, it would require me sending my pistola off to have the work done. When it would come back, I would have two swappable barrels though, correct? Preston
  5. I run an SV IMM .38 SC. At the moment I have the Ti compensator (3 port, 2 side ports) with 4 popple holes. Was thinking about buying a barrel that does not have popple holes to play around with. Would it fit into place without any extra modification (besides spring work), or is this a job for the custom shop? FYI, barrel brand would not change. Preston
  6. In addition to this, if it's chambered in 223 Wylde then your chamber will accept both 5.56 nato and .223 Remington. Will your rifle chamber a round without any external forces such as bumping the bolt? If so, I would definitely say it has to do with your load. What powder, velocity, primer signs are you getting? Preston
  7. Will say some extra prayers tonight before bed. I'll never understand the mentality of some people...
  8. Similar problem here.... Nahhhhhhhhhh what am I saying. I don't feel any guilt. Preston
  9. .38 SC is already in the lead. I predict it will stay that way. My load: .38 SC, 10.6g VV3n38, WSR, MG 124 JHP @ 1.235 OAL. Makes Major easily, but has a slight bit of primer flattening at times. Was thinking about experimenting with different powders here once this 4lb jug is toast. Preston
  10. Lucky you for even being able to handle such a pistol! Wish I where in your shoes. Take some pictures for posting purposes.. Preston

    It's Fall

Only have live oaks in the front yard. We deal with acorn problems over here. Preston
  12. +1 I looked to setup a "kit" myself and put all the necessaries together about 8-9 months ago. It got confusing and frustrating, mostly because I was a first timer. Called Brian and spoke to him all of 10 minutes, and he set me up for an order to reload .38 SC. He is very knowledgeable and can give you a few pointers that may influence you to buy a different press. He saved me lots of money with just one phone call. If you are sure you want that press, go ahead and call him anyways. Shipping was amazingly fast. Good luck with your decision. Preston
  13. I placed my order back in April and the delivery date I was given last was 1st week of December, that's after Aug, Sept and Oct delivery dates. I have had 20K WSR on order from May. There expected delivery dates are misleading to say the least. Preston
  14. http://store.thirdgenerationshootingsupply...cfm/2,3716.html They have 360 FSR packages of 1000 in stock for 31$ and 79 WSR packages of 1000 in stock for 39$. Just a heads up. Preston
  15. How many grains of powder where you shooting? What PF? Preston
  16. I use MG 124 JHP/CMJ which are plenty accurate out of my gun. They feed well too. They are the only thing I feed the SVI.
  17. Couldn't have said it any better. I love mine to death, and I am taking it to my grave. Preston
  18. Don't think this one has been discussed yet. I have 2000 BR4 primers (which I know... Are extremely hard to come by right now). I was wondering what the real difference is between these and the WSR/FSR in the event that it comes down to having to use them. I understand that SR v. SP is just a matter of cup hardness, so I am assuming the cup hardness will be relatively the same. Is the difference in the consistence of the primer "sparking" compound? If worse comes to worse, I can probably find someone that will trade WSR for them, but in the event this doesn't happen, what would you do? Preston
  19. Besides safety, this is the best advice. Brian's book is a great read too. Preston
  20. Cheater!!! I have a 10/22 with a barracuda stock! It was an impulse buy to say the least. I put a 60 dollar red dot on it that has four site settings. It's a GREAT turtle slayer. That's about all the action is gets... Preston
  21. What both of you said is pretty much what I figured. What about the rare occasion that I may shoot a .357 sig? If it was running higher pressure, then it would be a candidate for annealing, right? (Maybe I am just in the mood to torch some brass :> ). Preston
  22. So I have been reading LOADS about f-class shooting (rifle shooting comps). There seem to be a bulk majority of people out there that anneal cases. When comparing USPSA to F-Class, is there any reason to anneal pistol brass? Could be a simple answer, the thought just crossed my mind. Thought I would ask the experts. Preston
  23. +1, I got a 3 hybrid holes and a 3 port comp w/ two bleeders. Let me tell yeah, it's important to use double protection on the ears. I was thinking about trying other powders just because of this reason. I am using 10.6g 3n38 124 MG JHP Making major on .38sc. (I think I am compressing the charge but I haven't had any issues.)
  24. Yet another reason why I 'sometimes' hate the internet. Sounds like it's time for a beer. Preston
