  1. All of the known powders like 320, 231, etc are what I would normally recommend, but if you can't wait forever for some to turn up, we had an old Bullseye shooter at our club who also had a fascination loading 9 mm. When he passed away there were a dozen of the old 20# ? Metal canisters of red dot and his friends said he swore by it. I bought one but have not tried it yet...good luck?
  2. Brian Enos told us in these forums a while back to not tumble our bullets after loading because the Dillon lube helps the rounds feed better. I found it to be true and have been doing it ever sense...love the Dillon lube!
  3. I guess it depends on which gun, but most of my 1911's have barrel twist that favor the 115 gr. JHP. with Power Pistol, I have been unable to find a more accurate load in any of my guns..... For target practice I go with N-320 for milder shooting...great question....as always a choice depends on intended use...I'm an accuracy nut...
  4. Jensey - If you travel by Richmond to Massenutten, be sure to go to www.colonialshooting.com. It is the largest indoor shooting range in the country and is worth a trip as it's own destination. They have 51 indoor lanes, tack range, Cafe and great store. It is right off of I-64 Glenside/Broad St. East Exit and has great IDPA matches every Tuesday night! Well done and put together with lots of women shooters. Beginners up are welcome....hope you have a good trip!
  5. Same gun in 9mm, so I need to know what #. Spring Wilson calls for?
  6. I can't remember if Wilson recommended 8# or 10# springs? I know our local Wilson Dealer had every spring in stock except the one I needed....Anyone have any idea, I could not find the info on their web sight ...
  7. It's I the resting to see this topic as I have been experimenting with Hornady 124 gr FMJ -RN with 320,330,340. So far 4.3 gr. of 320 is giving me the tightest groups out of a Les Baer 1911 Bullseye gun. I choose 320 because Tight Group burns to hot for the volume I shoot, I love the way it meters and is very smooth... Same experience with Sierra and MG in same bullet profile.. Basically, I try to match the powder to the gun. I always use my barrel to set bullet length and from memory was loading these to1.245 to 1.250 OAL with magazines accepting the length...in 45 I have been shooting N-310 4.5 grs. For years at 1.245 OAL. I find VV published data to be extremely conservative as I believe Patrick Sweeney did in his first book on the 1911. There is one chapter on reloading in that book I highly recommend to anyone new to reloading.90% of my questions can be answered in that one chapter for all caliber's. it's only in the first edition (red cover)... Good luck! Marine Corp
  8. You know I've always wanted to try Bullseye with 9mm. Great idea...! My crimps are right at.374..sound right to you guys?
  9. It's not the bullet size for me but what works best in each individual gun and for what purpose. No two guns are alike from same lot....fwiw
  10. Fwiw - I have My best performance with 3N38 shooting 38 Super in minor..I'm an accuracy nut...and try a lot of combinations...
  11. I get slightly over an inch Benched with red dot consistently with 115s jhps ,so I am wondering if the twist in a Kart barrel favors light bullets..?
  12. I started at starting amount exceeding max when working with longer OAl...it's a Bullseye Gun with less then 10k rds through it, don't know why I would want to recrown, could not get good groups with Wilson barely either ....worked up in 2 tenths units.... What would help is a load that someone has gotten 2" @ 25 yds with a Kart barrel. Etc
  13. I am having a hard time getting sub 3.5 inch groups with 124/125 gr bullets. No problem with 2" or less at 25 yds with 115s. Tried loading long and medium length, PPistol, TG, W2321, VVN-320 and 350...i'm thinking the Kart barrels must not be able to shoot tight groups with 124s. Did the same in my Wilson 1911 in 9mm. Any ideas? frustrated...
  14. Hey- if you head to DC on I-95 or I-64 by Richmond, Va. be sure to go to the new Colonial Shooting Academy! It is right off the interstate and is the largest indoor range in the country! They have 51 lanes with a tactical range, IPDA, shoot house and great gun store/cafe. Plenty of Machine Guns. Its worth the trip just to see it! Like Scottsdale, just bigger...
  15. I'll second that! Hornady really compliments Power Pistol in their load book, and I found it to give excellent accuracy, however the blast and flash/recoil is too much for me..... Marine Corp
  16. I have used most of the crimp dies at one time or another, and Dillon does just fine...if its free, so much the better! Marine Corp
  17. 3N370,416.336011810,446.83801245 I use VV 3n37 with great results in all my 5" 1911. Good luck, it's become one of my favorite rounds to shoot!
  18. This is great data. I know what I will be doing this afternoon!
  19. Thanks Doug..tried 330, will go to 340
  20. I have been searching (no pun intended) for a good accurate load for my 1911. We just had a great new indoor range open and I am having to leave my lead bullets and go to FMJ/HP or plated bullets. Starting from scratch the only accurate loads I have been able to obtain have been with 115 gr bullets (124/125 and higher don't shoot as well out of my Kart barrel) and power pistol. Power Pistol does work well with the 124/125s also but is so blasty, etc,. I don't enjoy shooting hundreds of rounds at a time. Title Group gives decent accuracy but heats up the barrel. I have tried N-320 in every combination with no luck and W-231 is no better. Anyone have a good and accurate practice load...a favorite? I have MG, Hornady and Berry's ...in all weights, etc. the most accurate load I have is MG 115s w/ Power Pistol... Any help appreciated and if anyone knows what the twist is in a Kart 9mm barrel, I'd be interested in knowing..... C, in Richmond, Va. PS Please Vote!
  21. On my 1050 I can comfortably do 600 rounds an hour. I use Dillon primer tube loader which picks up the pace....I also use lube but prefer Dillon lube to other brands because it spreads so easy, doesn't kill primers and most importantly, it helps the brass chamber smoother in my 1911s
  22. CSA has not started to sell brass yet but are planning to. If you want any, email me and I can help out until they sell to the public. I'll make sure you don't pay too much...
