  1. It's being kicked out at the air gauge station. I'm not the operator, just the guy that paid for it:) I've been loading on 1050s for years so the learning curve does not bother me,,l just felt too much sorted brass was being rejected. It was higher and after an adjustment the reject rate dropped to 10% which he felt was realistic....this is helpful... 38 Super is what will stop it dead in tracks. From what I gather he must have the air pressure check set too sensitive?
  2. We have a Camdex set up loading 9mm. What is an acceptable "kick out" rate for brass on flaws? We are running 10% right now... Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  3. With all of the new powders on the market, I was wondering if anyone had come up with a new accuracy load for 38Super for target shooting. So far in my 5" 1911 nothing has beat Power Pistol. I don't like the flash bang of PP so I have been using VV 3N37..,anyone had good results with one of the newer powders. CFE makes a lot of sense if it shoots well....
  4. I load for accuracy and I have found nothing that shoots more accurate then 115 gr hps with Power Pistol in a Kart barrel. 1150 fps and it pushes my Baers. Can't stand the flash and noise so I usually go with N340 or Universal....every gun and barrel is different but Karts seem to do unusually well in any gun running the above...
  5. I'll be glad when this post is closed....one big circle...Over and over.... Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  6. Sarge - is the crimp for 9mm the same as for 38 Super? Bullets are .356 Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  7. After ready Vol 1 of Patrick Sweeney's "Book of the 1911" which better explained reloading pistol rounds the any other reloading book (including his) I have always set my crimp for plated bullets at .378 or slightly less depending on brand. Accuracy jumped. Good read and highly recommend. Forget the next volumes as all the good stuff is in one unless you enjoy seeing reviews of new guns....c Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  8. We can close out this post as I got my answer. All is fine...C Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy

  10. I have 3 1050s and 3 550s. At work I have a 550 I work up loads on (I work at a range) and when I get the most accurate load, take it to a 1050. I have it mounted on a 2x10 with clamps and can easily put it the closest or in car on a trip. I can comfortably do 400 - 450 RDSper hr with the electric vibra primers feeders. If I rush, I can do 600,,,no case feed needed... Sounds just like what you need and later you can skip a 650 and jump to a 1050 and dedicate it for 9 mm and use your 550 got easy caliber conversions.....have fun! We also sold Hornady but quit because we had many more issues/comebacks then Dillon. It's a shame as the margins are much better then Dillon....C Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  11. I don't want to wait 20 mins on the support line. With all the post you have, I'm sure you would have heard by now if true... Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  12. Last post is good advice..... Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  13. I was told by a Dealer today that Dillon is running weeks behind on shipments to stores. I thought they had caught up on most items. Does anyone know the validity of this statement? Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  14. I have the first version of Mr Bullet brand new still in the box when I bought it 5 yrs ago. Before I go to the trouble of setting it up, am I better of with the updated version?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Depends on barrel! Kart barrels shoot lights out in a government size 1911 a 1150fps. Of all powders used Power Pistol is without the most accurate powder in 9 mm. I just don't like the noise and flash. We have a Ransom Rest at our range and I have run hundreds of different loads with a Les Baer Bullseye Gun. If you are an accuracy nut like me, the Ransom Rest will tell the story .... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I would have thought so to but for reference: Patrick Sweeney BOOK OF THE 1911, Vol One..:... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I work in one of the country' largest indoor ranges, have reloaded thousands of rounds a week of lead ammo for years. All I do is wash my hands like I would before dinner. I take annual lead test and have no more lead then a non shooter. Everyone shows some lead exposure due to dust on the roads from the lead gas days..... Even all the quail, dove and grouse I've eaten with some missed bird shot never hurt a thing...just be prudent. I'd guess gas spilled on your hands filling up your car is much more dangerous. The ONLY range officers we have that test high are the ones that do not wear their mask during cleanup,,,,they get fired. C Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  18. I'm the owner of these and other 1911s. One is 38 Super. I'm going to follow the ugh edition of taking the slide off and looking at what is going on. I hate to run a bill if there is a simple fix..thanks for the feedback....c Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I have a couple of semi custom 1911s that the slide fails to lock back on after the last shot even after I shoot them with different brands of new magazines including WC...what is the first thing the pistol smith will look at to fix after making sure it's not a magazine problem? 22. For me,it would be Montana Gold 200 gr RN with VV 310, 320, 330 or 340 with 310 being first choice.Just depends,on what your gun shoots best...I don't know enough about your brand bullets to comment but FMJ/plated,will beat any coated lead bullet for what you are trying to accomplish. Graf and Sons has been getting VV in on a fairly regular basis if you don't mind waiting a few weeks..C Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  23. I've loaded a lot of lead. You need a harder led like Laser Cast and a clean powder like VV N320. It is the lube that smokes but Laser Cast seems to smoke less in my guns. I shoot the SWC's in my 1911 but find them to be a,little clunky in plastic guns because of the different ramp. How are they feeding for you? I usually load 200 gr. RN for guns other then 1911.., Played bullets won't lead your barrel, won't have smoke issues Lead bullets are more accurate because the lands and grooves "grab" the bullet better. Also our barrel will last much longer. For accuracy (meaning Bullseye Level) I shoot lead, all other plated... It's all a matter of personal choice....good luck C Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  24. He did with the Case Pro...not needed with Lee Die... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. If you are only shooting 500 rds a month, why wouldn't you get a 550 and worry about a 650 when you get to several thousand a month if not more? I comfortably load 400 an hr on my 550 without a case feeder....c Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
