  1. What was helpful to me when I bought my first progressive (Dillon S1050) and was told there was a 30,000 rd "learning curve". This would be the same regardless of brand. That said, I think your learning curve on the 650 will be much lower. A year from now you will look back and realize every problem you are experiencing is a) a simple fix and the answer to 99% of your problems are answered with the fix in your printed literature. Without seeing what you are doing it is hard for me to give you an exact fix but others on here probably can. I do not own a 650 but the basics are the same with them all. Check that your powder bar goes from the back all the way out an every pull....it should do this with the die set for proper flair and adjusted as you described. Are the rods inserted into the bar links correctly? Look at the picture of a 650 and see if the linkage matches yours... Good luck and keep it simple! C Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy

  3. I own three 1050's and two 550's I bought through this site from Brian Enos. For my purpose, Brian recommended a 1050 and I liked it so much, I ended up buying two more! You can't go wrong with the pocket swage but what I like the most is the way it runs like a sewing machine... C Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  4. Just a question. How hard is it to find buyers for remanufactured ammunition wholesale? We have ranges to supply but was curious how hard it is to be competitive? Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  5. That's interesting. We researched and two years ago decided to go with Camdex machines. A year and a half later, they just arrived. While t the SHOT show I heard several people all complaining about Camdex's and then read the same,on here and thought maybe we had made a big mistake. After a trip to their plant we feel much better as in the past year they have expanded, bought their own CNC equipment to make parts in house, etc. The flood of folks getting into reloading was hurting their customer support. We also like all the safety ck systems on the Camdex. That blow up with the AmmoLoad last month also made us feel better....I imagine they are both just as good but the Camdex is more temperamental... Funny, I thought the Camdex did a higher volume then Ammo Load? I heard AmmoLoad jacked their prices through the roof after the Shot Show..Appreciate the feedback...C Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  6. Believe me, it does! Range part is great as long as there is ammo but retail is tough.....especially when the market is so up and down.... C Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  7. It is all hoarding. Building an addition to a powder plant is a three year project and millions of dollars. Tell the truth, how many folks in this forum see powder avaliable and even though they have plenty, think "I'll buy some while I can get it?" Times 100k a and you have a shortage....
  8. Easy answer. Do you know what happens to an indoor range if they don't have 22 ammo to sell to their Members or the public coming to rent a lane? Every gun store and range in the country has been loosing their shirt since the Newtwon Panic. Distributers filled orders for a TWO year supply of everything gun related in 48 hours! It was not long ago that ranges had no 9mm in addition to 22.,,,we can't chance selling it all and be left high and dry, just like Dick's doesn't want to sell it all in a day and have nothing on their biggest sales day of the year. We have a $13,000,000.00 facility and one heck of a mortgage payment all because of our love of the shooting sports. If we get rich one day, great... There are a lot easier ways to make money, believe me...that said, I encourage everyone to support your local gun store/range because they are all under attack and hurting big time...I don't think the last big panic was happenstance...by spring 22 should become readily avaliable again IF another scare doesn't come our way...
  9. They are only doing what they said, saving it for Black Friday. I work at the largest indoor range in the country and we were lucky to get a pallet of 22 ammo about 9 months ago at a high price. We are sitting on it because we don't know how long it might take us to get more. We sell it at the range counter only and not retail. When small lots of 22 come in we put it out and it's gone in a day....the only reason 22 is hard to find is more people are shooting it, they are shooting it in 28 rd ARs and the biggest reason...hoarding! Stop hoarding 22s and pistol powder and it will be readily avaliable again....
  10. So you don't own a Camdex yourself to make a comparison? Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  11. Well, statistically one thing is for sure...it is something you are doing wrong and will turn out to be something obvious.....let us know when you figure it out...
  12. I always use my Les Baer Bullseye guns with red dot sights for 9 mm and 45 on an indoor range with a Caldwell and towel...the key for me is shooting each shot with consistency of hold, etc. the red dot helps my older eyes...when shooting different calibers then above I try to attach a laser, etc. sub 2" at 25 yds is my goal....I have a Ransom rest as I shoot mostly 1911s and our range has. Firm stand for one, however it is work and time consuming to use it correctly...Volume 1 of Patrick Seeneys Book of the 1911 has an excellent chapter on sighting in handguns, pistols, etc. Good luck... 13. If you are loading rifle rounds for the first time then the problem is you are moving the handle too fast. A rifle case takes longer to fill up then a pistol round so try pausing a second when as the powder drops and see if that helps.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. My Redding competition seating die only came with one "plunger". I thought that was the point of the spring design...am I missing something? Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  15. Superdude - I appreciate what you are saying...the differences in length are probably greater then my example. I have not measured the height of bullet however...it's enough difference that could mean half my bullets fit the magazine and the rest don't...I load long for 1911.,, I have only run into this problem with latter batches of Remington bullets ( this was part of a new 10,000 rd purchase) and believes the problem must be there...I've loaded over 20,000 HAP rounds, lead RN, MG and not had this problem.... I've never had the problem in other caliber bullets on my 1050s...this is on a 550 and same story... Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  16. If the OAL is suppose to be 1.260, I am getting from 1.256 to 1,264.,,/ something is not right. I wonder if the round nose shape of the Rem bullets are out of spec and the seater cup in each die is thrown off by it..? Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  17. I've got a Mystery which means it is a simple fix. With both Dillon and Redding Pro Series bullet seating dies I cannot get a consistent OAL. The Remington 130 gr RN bullets are seating as much as 5 or 6 tenths different in height from round to round. I have had problems with these bullets in the past as they measure in diameter from 354 to 356 and are all suppose to be .356...still they should seat at right depth every time or close??? Primer below flush, mixed brass that has worked fine before... What am I missing? C Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  18. I tried search but isn't there someway to print out an entire thread on a particular topic? No icons pop up when using the App....Any help appreciated....c Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  19. The minimum velocities are too high for me and I stick to N 310 for 45 acp but use it for 9mm a lot and 38 Super... The copper claims are all true...even cleans out copper...I shoot a lot on indoor ranges so all my bullets are fmj or plated.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. A stupid question, but you do have to separate the 223 from 556 cases, don't you? Marine Corp Colonial Shooting Academy
  21. Are ther any insurers other then through the NSSF? Doug, thanks..it appears it's up 2,500 per 100,000 rds annually. We estimate 800,000 and it was 22,000$ or 18k can't remember which...for two caliber's...I'll get up with you and send a Check...c
  22. What are commercial reloaders paying for insurance/liability? I have heard prices from $2500 annually to $18,000. What is correct? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Buying more then we need drives the shortages even longer.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I'm not shooting Your caliber but I have case I have reloaded more then 50 times in 45acp at 875fps with 200 grain bullets..usually the case neck splits first or it gets lost at range before it looses it's use....wwe load commercially and as long as it has not been over belled, it will pass all the pressure test we run our cases through....
