  1. After the shot was fired and I was peppered with gravel I stood there waiting for the SO to say something but...the shooter was allowed to finish the match.
  2. Gen 3 G17 with C-More and Carver custom comp/Magwell/Sight Mount
  3. One way helped me improve drastically on my reloads. While at work I would practice while seated in my car. I would bring my competition gun, unloaded of coarse, and sit in my patrol car during my down time and just go through the motions...over and over and over etc...having an empty magazine in the gun, dropping it and catching it, then bringing it back up from where they would be positioned on my belt and reloading. When I practice I look at the magwell each time and then punch back out on target. You of course can do this while you're watching tv or anywhere. Practice above all made me consistent.
  4. I compete with a G34 and carry a G27...will be carrying a G43 soon.
  5. I agree...things such as that have been the reason it has been a while since I have returned to that club, I hate it too because it is the only club that puts on a monthly IDPA match in my immediate area. I shot in the GA state championships and was almost dq'd for coming too close to a target so I know the "buddy" system would not stand at most shoots.
  6. That's a mandatory DQ, per rule 2.2.3.5. That's what I would have thought...I guess because it was a local match though they felt they would overlook it. He was one of the match directors for the club...still is I believe... Well if it was a club level match for match directors of that club and their rules say it's ok to have a AD from a match director, it could be ok. But wasn't this a sanctioned IDPA match? And the club and RSO's agreed to operate to IDPA rules? Not only should the shooter have been DQ'd, but also the RSO for allowing the shooter to continue the match. I agree...the last match I shot in there, my squad SO and scorer liked to be lenient on scoring themselves but hard on everyone else. That is most of the reason it has been a while since I've shot a match there. I know at the state level none of that would take place.
  7. I was in the middle of writing his score so I can't say for sure what he did/didn't do. I don't believe he would have cleared it at our feet intentionally. I think he just went to fast resulting in a careless mistake.
  8. Practice live fire and shake off the rust, stop on steal and don't forget the front sight. I too took a leave of absence due to having kids, came back a made silly mistakes...just takes a little time and practice to shake the rust. Good luck
  9. 8" target at about 80 yards is the furthest I've had a chance to try, was pretty easy. Now that you've put it in my head I will bave to experiment haha.

  11. I maintain a high and firm grip even out to shooting 9" plates from 50+ yards away...I too maintain finger contact on the trigger. I only shoot Glocks and have shot them for many years, don't recall having the problem you experience but everyone has different issues for each firearm. I shoot a G34 for IDPA, a G17 Open Gun and a G21. I don't relax my grip, stance etc. Like the others said, practice will cure in time. Hope you are able to work it out.
  12. Ha...wasn't exactly where I was thinking of sending him
  13. I agree, I wanted to do other things that cannot be mentioned but...
  14. I was taking scores during a local IDPA match and was standing a couple of feet behind the shooter who had just completed his course of fire and I was writing down his time. The SO was standing next to the shooter and just gave instructions to unload, show clear, slide down, hammer down and holster when the shooter did not unload and show clear and fired the round in the chamber into the ground just in front of us sending gravel in our faces. It happened a couple of years back but I have always wondered what the "standard procedure" is to handle a situation like this...should he have been penalized, disqualified or something else? The shooter was allowed to continue in the match and nothing happened. Anyone else seen this happen at their matches and had the same results? Just curious...
  15. Well I shoot a G34 for IDPA and have a G21 for duty but I'm not sure if there are any good Glock airsoft guns. I live in TN and am wanting something I can use to train with for both competition and duty. Thanks for the reply and info.
  16. I'm not sure if this is in the correct place or not, I apologize if it's not....I am looking at purchasing an Airsoft gun for training purposes and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. Can anyone tell me where to go to get a setup? I am wanting something that will be as close to a uspsa/idpa setup as possible. Thank you in advance.
  17. Although I shoot with a G34 in IDPA, I chose a G21 for work. I have Sevigny figure 8 Trijicon sights on it, extended slide release and extended magazine release. I love mine.
  18. Since the Surefire app and the one by Taurus were free, I downloaded them. I also went ahead and purchased the Shot Timer PRO. I will mainly be using them on private property for practice and won't have the added background, so hopefully I won't experience some of the issues posted here. I have a match Saturday and won't get back to the range until next week. I will report back then. Thanks for all the feedback on the apps.
  19. If I'm shooting from the right side of barricade, I have my my right knee down. Left side, left knee down. That's what is most comfortable/best for me.
  20. Forgive me if someone already commented on this, but in the first video during the strong/weak hand only firing...I notice that you cant your gun inward. I keep mine vertical and fully extend out, it helps me with everything...accuracy, speed etc.
  21. I use 5.11. Although it is pricey, it has worked for me and a lot of other shooters I compete with...I do see many other vests though, it is kind of hard to try them on if you don't have the convenience of a store that stocks them.
  22. I downloaded the one by Taurus and the Surefire one, both seem good...will have to test them on the range. There is another one called "Shot Timer PRO", it is $9.99, does anyone have any experience with this one?
  23. Any iPhone users have the Shot Timer Application? If so, can you provide feedback? I am considering purchasing it but thought I would get some opinions first. Thanks in advance.
  24. One thing I saw that I don't think anyone mentioned was when shooting strong/weak hand only, brace the arm that you aren't using on your chest...it offers more stability while shooting strong/weak hand only which will improve your accuracy as well as speed. Another is that you often stand almost vertical in your stance...personally, this is just what works well for me, I lean a little further toward the target and my body is more square to it...I noticed your back foot is pretty far behind your lead foot. Anyway, hope this helps you. As far as video goes, that is one of the best training tools you can have for yourself...watching/studying yourself shoot will help you improve all around.
