  1. Exactly where are you seeing the results, I must be missing them.
  2. If you're certain that batch of ammo is running 172PF (i.e. chrono'd it recently), I'd order an AFTEC ASAP....in most cases you can simply radius the edges of the FPS, pop the AFTEC in and have it be 100%. I'll usually cycle maybe 20-40 dummy rounds through the gun, by hand, to settle the AFTEC springs, but even that isn't usually necessary. If you're not an accomplished standard extractor tuner, it's going to be hit or miss. R, Yep 172PF on Saturday. I ordered an AFTEC this morning but won't get it until after next week, Aftec is running behind. Stuck my Wilson extractor in and going to test it this afternoon. On the other hand, I've checked both extractors and they have the same tension on the round, but obviously it's having problems about 2 - 3 rounds per 100. Worst case I use the original extractor and shoot the match hoping that there won't be a problem. I will take my Wilson as a back up though.
  3. It's not a light load, running 172 power factor. I did pull the extractor out of one of my other 1911's last night and I can see the difference. That extractor has a slight bend to it, the gun in question's the extractor is straight. So it looks like the extractor, will work on it today.
  4. Great, where do I find an extractor now by tomorrow???
  5. I have not changed anything on the gun. It started doing this on Saturday and I broke it down and cleaned it including the extractor tunnel. The extractor is stock STI and has maybe 2-3000 rounds on it.
  6. No jams, ejector is clean and good. It looks like the case is not clearing the port completely.
  7. My single stack STI Sentinel just started doing this. Not every round but the odd round clearly ejects and clears the action but the case mouth is badly damaged. I've got a major match coming up and don't want to get bit with a problem. Sorry the picture quality is poor, iPhones can only do so much, but I think you can see the case mouth pretty clearly.
  8. I would assume that it's a lost brass match since most matches above club level are. Every match I've shot at The Double Tap Ranch has been a lost brass match.
  9. +1 on the dental pick. This is the type you can buy for cleaning your gun. Works the best out of everything else I've tried.
  10. Gary sorry to hear about your friend. I've gone thru the same and they really do take a piece of your heart with you. God bless you. Terry
  11. Mainly you need to change the grips. Marschal in Hungary (marschalgrips.com) makes a set that is 4/10 of an oz. total weight for both. That will do it. Mine weighed in at 38.8 oz. I have since switched to a Shadow and with those grips and the stock plastic guide rod instead of the stainless rod it weighs in at 39.000 oz. Good to go.
  12. I got the Surefire app. and it was free. Works OK, but really best for dryfire. Mine has a bug though that I can't get rid of. Every once in awhile instead of the horn sound it will give me a sound of a bunch of crickets, are crickets bugs or insects lol. I have to close the app and reopen and it works fine again until the crickets show up again. Usually happens maybe once per dryfire session.
  13. Just a thought. Try using Teflon powder instead of any type of spray on case lube etc. Simply shake a little over your case feeder like if it was baby powder and load them up. Advantages: Clean, works just as well as case lube or better, doesn't evaporate or dry up, doesn't need to be cleaned off, inert material that has no effect on powder, cheap - a little goes a long, long way, did I mention clean - it's not sticky or gooey.
  14. I voted 38 TJ only because it was an improvement of the SC design, however my Brazos doesn't care which one you feed it. Starline SC, TJ, Armscor, Armscor RL it just eats them all. I don't even sort them anymore.
  15. Steve, sorry to hear about the cancelation. If you can swing it you should try again. The date conflict with Nationals really messed your match over, but given another clean shot you can do it. You had incredible interest before the date snafu. Terry
  16. Get some Teflon powder and sprinkle it in your case feeder. You will find a big difference in the pressure required to operate.
  17. I used to wear a size 38 pant and bought 42" Double Alpha belts and that worked fine. Now I'm a 36 pant and the 42's are still fine so that's 6" over. On my belts 6" over has all the fuzzy side of the velcor covered but no extra. I don't know about the CR Speed's but the Double Alpha needs to be at least 4" bigger than your pant size.
  18. Guidance Counselor? I say President.
  19. Is check-in open on Friday for Saturday AM shooters and what time is the shooters meeting Saturday AM?
  20. Be careful preloading the mouse. I had an AD and got DQ'd.
  21. Shot both Limited and Open yesterday (Friday). Great match, really interesting stages, very organized. Shooting 18 stages in 107 degree heat factor was a real test. Does anyone know if prelimary results will be posted?
  22. If the big center bolt in the shell plate is loosening you must not be tightening the set screw. Run the bolt all the way down on the shell plate and then back it off 1/16th of a turn. (That's why they have the little dots on the head of the bolt.) Then tighten the set screw.
  23. Yep, I've got the same one...it is VERY sturdy! I added two shelves to the right side by putting brackets between the legs and adding semi-finished wood from Lowes (don't recall the thickness, but it's pretty stout). I've got hundreds of pounds of bullets on the shelves and it's quite stable...it's not even bolted to the wall and I can crank on it hard without movement. R, http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/product.jsp?productId=101756 +1 on these work benchs. I put two end to end which gives about 12 feet of space. I've read lots of posts about bolting your loading table to the wall for less movement but these things are heavy enough that I haven't had to do it and have had no problem with movement either.
  24. We had a simular stage at a local match a couple of years ago. It was 18 degrees and the ammo was in a stainless steel bowl and you were laying on your back at standby. Do you know how hard it is to load a mag when your fingers are stiff with cold and you're on the timer? Can't say I like stages like that but it was the same for everyone.
