  1. Lol our level II matches are 3 stages on two bays. This was easy by comparison!
  2. Noooooo kidding. Why do you think I shoot USPSA LOL
  3. Thanks! I've gotten used to it, its what we have to work with for our matches. I try to put lots of options and still test accuracy...not easy with narrow bays...thats why lots of hard cover.
  4. 6 bays, 14 stage, 253 rounds. I designed it and helped lay it out and build it. That's my home club. The ranges are tough since they are all long and narrow. Where the speed shoots were its not much more than 6-7m wide and the widest bay isn't quite 15m wide.
  5. I was so tired I was just trying not to look like an idiot lol
  6. Canadian Nationals done. Placed 8th which is ok since I was the Match Director and had put in more hours running the match than shooting. I see a couple a things to work on. But to be honest I was pretty bagged so not performing to my best.

My favorite part of golf is the drinking
  8. I had a message on both fb and instagram from Josko to get my butt over this week to get a Doubletap mount installed, he has had a couple set aside for me for awhile now that I just hadn't got around to putting on yet. I was going to do it after Nationals but it looks like that is going to have to be sooner now lol
  9. Well I'll fill in the details later but here's how my day went

Agreed, I've been there, as long as you dont start looking in the wrong places for things to fix which is what I did and it retarded my progress.

It sounds to me like you are putting an awful lot of pressure on yourself to perform at your old levels but haven't got the time in again yet. You've taken quite a bit of time off and are just getting warmed up. You have a lot of talent and it'll get there. Try to look at each item as a learning experience and put a positve spin on it.

Ever have that conversation go through your head as you are making up shots on a popper where you try to convince yourself to get solid and hit the damn popper and at the same time wonder if you still have enough rounds left and then realize that very conversation is distracting you and causing the misses?
  13. One problem we tend to see is that IPSC rules state that it is maximum 9 rounds from one position so we get 9 round speed shoots with an unloaded start. 8 round gun at a huge disadvantage.
  14. Worked some trigger control drills today. Trying out CFE pistol powder in the super. Worked quite well and happy with results. Started just getting a sight picture, prepping and firing a shot and working on returning the gun as quickly as possible with a prepped trigger. Then advanced into prepped doubles, tore a 3" hole in the center of the a zone. Ran the 3 second par time TGO drill and managed to get all but one in the A zone right up to the ten round string. Moved back and ran some bill drills at 30m. At first I was just banging on the trigger, hovering around 3.9 seconds. Changed to ensuring a prepped trigger for each shot and had a 4.5 second run all A's. Before that I was dropping some c's and the odd d.
  15. That's pretty smoking!

When restricted to 10 only I generally try to avoid 10 reload 10 reload 10 unless there is a very clear advantage. As you found one make up shot and you are running slide lock the rest of the stage....with no more spares unless you do a static reload. The flip side is to shoot it with no make ups and take your hits, which may mean you have to be wiling to let a miss hang to get a good time.
  17. If you have to run .12 to .14 splits on that drill you definitely need to work on your draw. With a 1.2 second draw your splits should be around .2 to make the 3 second par time for 10 shots on this drill.
  18. I like TGO's 5 second drill. Really helps see how fast you should be shooting. Set up three targets (could be done on one but scoring would be a nightmare) and set a five second par time on your timer. On the first target, when the beep goes off, draw and fire as many shots in the 5 seconds as you can on target, all shots count. On the second target draw and fire as many shots on target as you can, In 5 seconds, only A's count, C and D's dont score. On the third target, in 5 seconds, draw and fire as many as you can on target. Only A's count....and anything that is not an A will subtract one A hit. So if you shoot 4 A and 4 C the 4C's cancel out the A's and you get zero. You really have to learn how to return the gun quickly to get a good score but sloppiness has its cost. I agree with those who say you are too concerned with splits on target and not enough with hitting the target. If you are pushing .12 with a Production gun and not reliably hitting you are shooting to fast. Alow that down to .16 or .18 and your hits will go up and overall time lost is not even worth mentioning. If you want to save time on a stage start looking at your transitions, draws, reloads, and movement. The last place you should be looking at for speed is splits.
