  1. I think I was around 5.0 of autocomp behind a 124 fmj. Around 130 of out of a glock 17, book says 5.2 is max load so is say that's a safe bet.
  2. Had a pretty productive day yesterday. Did some filming for our podcast to cover some classic drills like Bill drills, El Prez, Accelerator, Reaction time, and Transition drills. Dropped some good runs on everything. 2.0 bill drill all A's, 4.57 El Prez, ran Accelerator 4 different ways and hit 3.0 -3.2 each way, reaction I was running .12-.15, and Brian's transition drill I ran in just over 3 second down 4 points so call it 5 and a bit. Managed some decent groups and some speed draws at 7 that I got on paper at .65 seconds (yeah not an A but I was going for raw time)
  3. Stage 1: big issue was poor trigger manipulation caused me to drop a lot of points at the closest box. The first two went ok with decent points but at the closest box I did not give enough attention o the trigger and dropped shots into the no shoots. Lost 75 of 90 points. Stage 2: messed up at the beginning. The plan was to shoot the first three targets, retrieve a mag and shoot the first target through the door and the popper then reload and finish the last array. As I moved for the mag in the bucket I dumped the mag in the gun, chalk it up to habit of doing this reloading off tables, don't normally practice retrieving a mag from a table and NOT reloading (will add this to practice sessions) so while I would have had enough rounds I wanted some extra for the last array so I took both mags in the bucket reloaded one into the gun before the door but rushing didn't have time to put the other on my belt so I just left it in my hand. The first target through the door and the popper were easy shots so I shot them while holding spare mag in weak hand. Reloaded with that mag and finished. The take away here was that while an error potentially could have cost me the stage i was able to work around the problem on the fly and finish the stage with a decent score. Stage 3: straight up stage, move to wall and shoot popper then move through cooper tunnel to targets. Felt I took a little long setting up on first target but transitioning to the other two went well. Stage 4: shot the first 6 targets all A's, second bank I started ok, had to slow a bit for the last couple because I had to lean a bit to pick them up, moving earlier in the array might have helped. Last array went about as well as could be expected, it was right at the back of the range and if I'd had a bit more space I would have liked to stand a bit farther back to speed up the transition from one array to the other but it felt a bit crowded. Stage 5: straight up 3 target stage at about 15m. Again I felt like I didn't give the trigger the attention it deserved for the shots and I dropped more points than I would have liked but 6 shots at 15m in 2.6 seconds was decent and was about half the time it took the next closest shooter. Overal my transitions are getting better and my ability to work around problems was good.
  4. I've played around with holster heights, holsters like the Safariland, CR and Ernie Hill race holsters give you a fair amount of room to move the holster up and down, aside from finding a spot where the hand can naturally and comfortably get a full grip on the gun I don't find the height makes and appreciable difference in time. I even run my Safariland 6004 as high as I can get it.
  5. Brian's transition drill is great for working on this
  6. Lol you need to move up here. In the Toronto area we have, on average, 3 matches per weekend all year round within an hours drive.
  7. It's only not acceptable if you don't learn from it. I took away lots of positive stuff from that match so for me it's a win.
  8. Lost 75 points but shot it fast enough to only lose 60 stage points then shot the rest of the stages well enough to still win. So yeah, I'm pretty happy.
  9. Means I zero'd a stage and still won by a decent margin.
  10. I stick with the original though, the safeties on that gun are the new DT shielded safeties. They are awesome...and likely to be copied soon too lol
  11. DoubleTap mounts are great. Just look at how many copies there are lol
  12. No those are portable backstops. They are Plywood-conveyor belt- plywood-sand- steel plate- conveyor- plywood
  13. October 31 match @ Aurora
  14. It crossed our minds and a couple guys did it that way, you'd pretty much have to do a static draw on that target though as it goes away as soon as you move to the left port. Our plan, which worked for one guy but not for me, was that you take the 4 on the left, reload and open the door and take the 4 on the right port reload and take the steel. If you go one for one on the steel all you have to do is take a half step right and take the last two targets for a total of 11 shots. If you have to pick up a shot on the steel then it's a half step with a reload. My time was faster with the pick ups and the reload than the guy before me who shot the steel clean and picked up the two targets without a reload....granted he was shooting limited lol
  15. Notes from video: Stage 1: a bit slow getting into first position, ground was lucky there and didn't want to slip but might have been overly cautious. First array transitions were a bit slow but the rest of the stage went ok. Stage 2: everything good up to last shot on star. Knew I had taken a couple extra and played it safe waiting for last plate to stop before shooting it. I had a decent sight picture but was worried about wasting the shot. Stage 3: left a plate up. I hit it and it moved but these plates are on an arm and act like mini poppers. A normal plate on a stand probably would have dropped but these have to be hit cleaner or they won't pivot down. One minorly flubbed reload only cost me maybe half a second, points were very good and the rest of the stage went ok. Stage 4: mostly ok, one mag I have doesn't drop free when completely empty so it hung up in gun slightly on second reload. All ok except D on last shot. Stage 5: first box was good, decent draw and transitions. Flubbed the reload and got a bad grip on gun in second box. Caused inconsistent recoil and had to adjust a bit for every shot. Last position everything was ok but being a lot closer I didn't hold quite high enough and edged a couple shots into hard cover and had to make them up. Overall a good match for me. Transitions are improving but still need work.
  16. Today's WNYPPL match, glad I practiced yesterday but still lots to work on
  17. Spent the day doing recoil recovery drills and simple transition drills. Warmed up with Double Draw Master and posted a decent score even with two malfunctions.
  18. Gonna spend the winter working on my grip and trigger pull. Redeveloping my overall stance.
  19. If the gun is built right it will last a long time with major loads. I only shoot major through any of my Open gun and usually I am up around 172-175pf. My old Millenium Custom gun spent most of its life shooting at old power factor levels which meant I was above 180pf (so did my EGW Caspian and my P9 in 9x21 too
