  1. I start compressing it in from the bottom and work my way up until I get the support on the cartridges I want then bend open the feed lips back to the original specifications.
  2. I don't know if it the same as 2011 mags as I don't have any experience with them. I necked down the control rib where the cartridges go from double stack to single stack until I got the second cartridge to support the top one. The feed lips will then need to be opened back up to the specs they were before any modification. This applies only to 9mm TS mags. My 40 mags run flawless with CZCustom base pads and followers so didn't have to modify anything.
  3. The issue is with the shape of the mag body where it necks down. It is too wide so the second cartridge in line offers no support to the top cartridge causing to nose dive. I sent my large mags to Grams to tune and now can fit 28 with no reliability issues with the CZ Custom base pad and grams follower. I tuned my remaining short mags with CZ Custom base pads and followers and they run great with 23 max capacity.
  4. I fully understand them taking down their website to catch up with orders but the price increases are killing the people who actually shoot and not hoard. Just did the math on the bullets I predominantly use and my increased cost per year is $350. There goes one major match per year. What am I going to do...still buy them. Dammit, I hate being addicted to this game.

  6. I have had good luck getting N350 even in the conditions we have today. It seems that it isn't as popular of a powder.
  7. I use N350 to drive it 1185fps. Works comp well.
  8. I run N350 for minor and major loads in 9mm with 124gr bullets. What is your concern with using it?
  9. Now that's funny!!!

  12. For the Steel Challenge match I shoot there is four bays. They bays vary in width however. In bay A it is Pendulum and Roundabout. In bay B Smoke and Hope is by itself because of the wide movement of the stage. Bay C has 5 To Go, Accelerator, and Showdown. Bay D has Speed Option and Outer Limits. The club found this to be the safest way to put on the match for the area they had. Hopefully this helps.

  15. I didn't have the barrel reamed on mine to get them to fit. As blind bat states it depends on what bullets you are using. My steel challenge loads with 95gr Montana Gold JHP can only be loaded to 1.047" before they hit the lands. Reaming the barrel is one option if you are set on using a certain type of bullet, however, remember the depth of the magazine will start to limit you as well. The magazine is why I settled on 1.165" for a maximum and didn't go any longer.
  16. I run 124 gr CMJ Montana Golds at 1.165 in mine without any contact with the rifling. Pretty much all 9 major loads are compressed loads. N350 will get you to major in this gun and it is compressed.

I have a couple of the long magazines with Gram's to get them to run reliably and maximize capacity. I think the issue with them is they use the 40 dimensions where the magazine tapers down causing not enough support for the 9mm rounds. I was getting random nose dives into the front of the magazine whether I loaded a long oal(1.165) or short (1.050). Short mags run great with factory internals and CZ Custom base pads.
  18. They look like same ones that come on the czechmate, but don't know where you can get them otherwise.
  19. It will fit but the breechface of the 40 is bigger and you most likely will run into extraction issues
  20. You will need a complete upper (slide and barrel) and magazines to convert it.

I really don't have any other specs for it other than what is advertised with the gun. I don't know why they don't give any extra information for it. The magazine capacity hasn't been an issue for me yet. A stage with more than 26 rounds there is typically a spot to reload at. I think there will be some solutions for the magazines on the market in the near future.

I haven't been able to find a specification for the factory recoil spring but I am thinking it is around 12-13 lbs.

This is my first open gun so I can't say how it compares with a 2011 style open gun but so far I am liking it. The only issues I have had with the big stick is when I run my short 95gr JHP Steel Challenge loads due to the short OAL and flat front of the bullet. I can get 26 with a full profile bullet loaded out to 1.165" and have no issues and 25 with the short OAL bullets. I know they advertise that the big stick is supposed to fit 27 but even with an Lula loader there isn't enough room for the 27th. I have been happy with the gun, I shoot primarily steel with it so I haven't set up loads to make major yet, that is next years plan. I checked the trigger pull recently and it is at 1 3/4lbs with nothing done to the gun.
