  1. I have 930 SPX and I definitely don't have that problem, not even if I let the bolt move forward slowly by holding the charging handle. I tried to get my 930 SPX to do that last night and I couldn't. I dropped the bolt with the gun in all different positions and no dice, not sure what could cause that. Maybe since they're brand new some cleaning/firing will take care of it.
  2. Patiently waiting for my XD-m 5.25 to get back from Rich's magic shop... FL Sunshine games at my home range next month!

  3. Wow, Tim really got thunderstomped in the battle of the atlatl! Good demonstration of why not to get emotional/hysterical/take things personally etc. I've seen guys at matches do that and their whole day is ruined, they usually don't recover until the last stage if at all. IT/IS people don't just earn a lot of money "because they're IT", it's almost always because of their strong mental abilities and skills. When I saw Chris slow down, take a breath and become focused I could almost see that bullseye at 60 feet that sealed the deal. What'd he say? Penguin in an ice house? Cold as ice, baby.
  4. I'm just curious, what type of gun was it? I had a .45 that would only hammer follow on a slide release with no magazine, but it would leave it in the half-cocked position. Anyone ever had "striker-follow"? Or are those types of guns made with a block that doesn't allow it?
  5. From EW.com : On AMC’s post-Walking Dead talk show, Talking Dead, executive producer Robert Kirkman broke the casting news fans of the comics have long been waiting for: Michonne, the fan-favorite, sword-swinging badass, will be played by Treme‘s Danai Gurira. The hit show included many surprises in its action packed second season finale: Rick’s revelation to the survivors that they’re all infected with the zombie plague; the ominous sight of the prison where some of the most pivotal action in Kirkman’s Walking Dead comics take place; the expulsion from the farm; Hershel’s transformation from misguided softie to gunslinging badass; the fact that T-Dog had a line. But one twist stood out above all the rest. Laurie Holden’s Andrea getting saved from a pack of zombies by a hooded warrior wielding a sword and leading a chain of leashed walkers. That’s right, Michonne made her jump from the page to the screen at last. Michonne’s backstory in the comics is somewhat similar to Andrea’s. They were both attorneys who’ve found ways to adapt to post-apocalyptic life. “These characters have struggled so hard to find a life worth living in this new world,” Kirkman said on Talking Dead. “Michonne has found that new life.” This announcement also comes on the heels of news that her full history will be revealed in a new Walking Dead comic to run in Playboy. Considering that Michonne is one of the most popular characters from the comics, it makes sense that Kirkman wouldn’t bring in a “name” actress weighed down by celebrity baggage. Gurira, a graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, is still a relative newcomer. Her most significant role to date is as the Village Voice reporter Jill on Treme, though she has also guested Lie to Me, Law & Order, and Life on Mars and had a small part in 2008′s The Visitor. Seems like it will follow the comic series closely
  6. LOL! My wife saw that scene and said "He packs a suitcase just like you do!"
  7. Yeah...I don't know anything about Black Powder guns but that scared me. I would imagine your Pistol could blow up in your face while ripping up your hands and fingers pretty good if you pulled the trigger while Tamping down the powder. Maybe Flintlocks should have Mag Disconnects on them Only in California of course. Wouldn't that be a "rod disconnect"?
  8. Two thoughts/observations: 1. The range at St. Augustine for the first match only has one bay out to 200 yards, there's one skinny cut in the trees where longer shots can be made, but it kind of moots the point. I go out to Bradford and shoot my LR-308 and Grendel at 600 and 850 so I agree, picking your zero, bullet drop and wind are big factors that interest real shooters, but not most of the regular TV audience. 2. Creative camera work can make things much more interesting- this is not shown live, so split the screen and show the target area and the shooter. I've seen that on YouTube, I'm sure NBC Sports could dig down really deep and pull it off too if the wanted to. WHAT EVER they do though is cool with me, I'm just glad to see 3-gun stuff instead of reality garbage or more singing shows!
  9. Yeah, he provided a zombie feast after Shane shot him in the leg.
  10. I have both the AR-15 and LR-308 size Delrin action blocks from DPMS, I've built 1 LR-308 and several ar-15 uppers with them, they worked great for me, including torquing the barrel nuts. I put them into a heavy vise which is bolted to a heavy work bench that is lagged to my garage floor. They aren't good for cleaning though as they completely fill up the inside of the uppper, no space for a rod and I don't clean from the muzzle end.
  11. The previews sure want you to think that. Now that there is no more Shane, what will they do for "drama"? I don't know about running- those walkers seem to have pretty good stamina! Hmm, drama- The baby will come out looking exactly like Shane and the feared "other group" will show up?
  12. Wow, 5 for 5 on the moving crossbow targets for Chee Kwan, what a performance. Oh, and I couldn't help but crack up when Big Guy wouldn't even look at the nice champion lady trying to help him out. I'm wondering just exactly what a "federal police officer" is anyway? A D.C. cop? One of the guards that walk around the Capitol ? US Marshall? Just curious.
  13. Hey Ken, check out CFRPC.com they have monthly 3-gun matches, a lot of friendly folks and good shooters! I've only been down there a couple times but it was worth it.
  14. My wife has chronic back pain and "degenerative disc" issues. We bought a very firm mattress 3 years ago, didn't help. We slept in an extremely soft bed for four nights in Las Vegas last year and her back was almost pain free after that. We came home, slept a couple nights and her pain was back. (No, it wasn't me poking her in the back ) So, we bought a new $3000 soft but supportive mattress and it did the trick, she's almost pain free most days. Point is, I'd always heard firmer the better, wasn't true.
  15. Yea, it wasn't pleasing to see. Specially since she' such a good shooter, why flirt and why that guy? He seems to be the only one not scared $hitles$ of her.
  16. I've seen it in your signature too many times not to ask- how'd you get the arrow in your knee?!

  17. I think Colby is a good host too. He actually looks and sounds like he's into it.
  18. I would allow the competitor to arb back in nearly every possible application of your rule. If you can not articulate a clear, unambiguous prohibition on the act, then I am probably not going to allow you to send a shooter home. DQs are just too costly to hand out based on subjective motivations of an RO. The subjective part that is always going to be subjective, (unless video review is added to the sport) is the RO's call of whether the compet was clearing a malfunction or reloading (since all possible definitions of malfs are not defined in the rules as noted in thread) and whether said compet was clearly aiming away from the targets. Both choices: Was he was loading/reloading with finger in trigger guard, DQ per 10.5.9 OR clearly moved aim away from targets while clearing a malfunction, DQ 10.5.8 What may be "clearly" to the RO is subjective, so is whether it was a malf. Motivations weren't mentioned in my post just safety.
  19. I believe the sentence between 10.5 and 10.5.1 covers it: "Examples of unsafe gun handling include, but are not limited to:" RO deems it unsafe, DQ. I also would never agree with forgetting to charge the gun being a "malfunction". The malfunction was between the ears : )
  20. Mark, I was in 8th grade when their first came out, I still remember walking into my neighbor's house (their daughter went to school with me and my bro) and hearing "Runnin' with the Devil" turned up and thinking "what is that?!". It was like nothing I'd heard before.
  21. From only 5 years of observation at local matches (I'm not speaking of higher level matches, which in my experience are run very well). This "people not pasting, resetting, picking up too much/not enough brass etc., not helping setup, leaving without tearing down" has been a constant theme over and over. From what I've seen there are 3 types of shooters: 1. "I have my 4th cousin's best friend's grandson's barmitzvah to go to so every one hurry the hell up because I am choosing to shoot the match AND do something I committed to when there really isn't time." 2. "I am here at 5AM till 5PM busting my ass so I expect you to do the same. (but I say I do it for the sport or for everyone not the recognition)" 3. "I am here with enough time and patience to help and deal with what ever happens and how ever the match goes and will enjoy myself and help others do the same because I am truly here for that purpose, no pretenses, I can choose to shoot the match or not". I know which one I have been and so do the shooters in the community, we all know which types the others are. However, trying to get others to change their nature will always cause friction and doesn't seem to be worth it, just shoot it or not. Frog and Scorpion. I could be wrong too.
  22. Nice! I'm a member at Ancient City in St. Auggie, I'll be there to see this one, I'm about 7 miles away. It's a great facility, Chuck and Missy and their crew are the best. Tip: newest, nicest, very close motel is the Marriott Courtyard on SR-16. If you want walking distance to the Cracker Barrel, Ruby Tuesday, etc. then the Hampton Inn or old Ramada are there. Plus there are pretty new Comfort Inn, Quality Inn and Fairfield Inn right in there too, about a mile from the range.
  23. I read an LA Times blog about the new album- they supposedly went through old recordings of their material back to even before their first album in '78, and revamped some of it. Sounded like a weird idea to me- musicians develop over time and change, seems like it would be an audio shock to go back like that. The blog had some vids and clips of the new stuff, China Town sounded pretty good to me but definitely a "throw back"!
  24. I looked thru a buddie's TAC30 and was so impressed I bought one to replace a NightForce 1-4 NXS that I ended up selling and paying for the TAC30 with $600 left over... Yes, the NF might have been a tiny bit more clear, but for me not enough to justify itself! (Although I kept my NF 2.5-10 on my LR-308)
