  1. This year was my first at Fort Benning. I'd shot Area 6 for the first time also and the great guys on my squad there HIGHLY recommended it and now I got to see why. Almost too many reasons to list: Getting to meet Steel Challenge champ and record holder K.C. Eusebio, Gold medal skeet shooter Vincent Hancock, Service Rifle champ Sgt. Tomlinson and other great AMU guys like Sgt. Ruiz made it "most excellent". Amazing coordination by Linda and SFC Hampton and the AMU. Being run in stage by famous RO's like Kurt Miller... (And Alan Shepard I actually finished without being DQ'd! Getting to spend a couple days with my squad which was full of awesome, friendly, helpful people like Maj. Cotty and others. Getting to ride a Striker, sit in a Bradley, fire an auto AK, a 203, shoot on the same range as the part of the sniper competition. Talk with the Cadets! Receiving a unit/challenge coin. (I told my dad, who went to N. Africa during WWII with the Army and he asked me "are you sure that's what it is?" YES DAD. Snag a prize from the table. As I was driving out of Ft. Benning I had a grin that was like a cramp in my face! WOW.
  2. Great match. Great Squad 2 ( at least no one laughed loud enough so I could hear at my poor performances ) Great RO. GREAT sponsors. Thank You All. Alan, it was entertaining though to see you shoot clays with slugs and paper with shot!
  3. Sorry to hear about Bill getting the stomach virus, here's to a speedy recovery for Bill. I also want thank Bill, Cindy and Charles and all the folks who setup and ran the match, it was outstanding. SRGC is awesome and I was glad it was hosted there... It was my first match other than a local match, and only my third with more than one gun. I was intimidated at first but my squad was amazing and friendly, our RO John Morgan was calm, professional and helpful. Special thanks to Kevin Cates and Alan Shepherd for helping me out with my rifle (handloads issue) I would not have been able to finish rifle without them! I'll be back Lord willing. 4. Yep, Larry is right. I have the match squadded so that you guys without carts won't have such a hard time. You will shoot all of one discipline before you move on to the next one. Pistol moves to Rifle, Rifle moves to Shotgun, and Shotgun moves to Pistol, and so on... I am picking up a couple more entries each day, so any of you guys sitting on the fence, we got room, there's no late fee, so come on out and play! Cindy I can really appreciate that, I don't use a cart! A BIG THANK YOU to you, Cindy and Bill, and Charles Bond and "LT45" and the folks who helped setup for putting this match on, I can hardly wait.
  5. I hope this is not a dumb question... Just curious also, no biggie- in our local matches we almost always have 5 stages, so if I'm on squad 2 I start on stage 2. In this match I'm in squad 2, start on pistol, so does that mean our squad starts on Pistol stage 2 "Back Alley"? Thanks.
  6. I noticed on the squadding page that the shooters' meetings are at "the pavillion". Where is that? Also, on shotgun stage 4 "Jungle Run" I noticed there is a "traveling 180". I've never shot one of those, I searched the .pdf rulebooks and did not find it listed, can you describe it? Thanks... The pavillion is in the center of the range in front of the cowboy town. It is also where the vendors will be and where lunch is served. The traveling 180 just means that the 180 is not 180 to the start line. As long as the targets you are engaging are less than 180 degrees to where you are standing at the time you engage them, you are good to go. Since the jungle run is along a trail in the woods where you first traverse to the left of the starting position and then turn right, this actually aids the shooter and course designer in giving shooters more options as to where they can engage the targets. Thank you Mr. Bond.

  8. I use a Mossberg 500A on which there also is no gate. I saw a bad jam happen to a guy with an 870 about 8 months ago- first time I'd seen any shotgun jam. After seeing that and reading your post I don't think I'd recommend one.
  9. Does anyone know what the box-looking thing inside the shooting area on Rifle Stage 3 ("Long Shots") is? I think it's probably something for support on the long shots, is it wood or sand bags? Thanks.
  10. Thank you all for your quick and concise replies, I thought I might have to start practicing flipping my safety on and off before/after moving!
  11. I used the forum search for "8.5" and it returned nothing, so here goes: The rule: 8.5.1 Except when the competitor is actually aiming or shooting at targets, USPSA Rifle Rules, January 2008 Edition • 31 all movement must be accomplished with the fingers visibly outside the trigger guard and the safety should be engaged. The firearm must be pointed in a safe direction. “Movement” is defined as any of the actions below: 8.5.1.1 Taking more than one step in any direction. 8.5.1.2 Changing shooting stance (e.g. from standing to kneeling, from seated to standing etc.). After reviewing the USPSA 2008 Rifle rules, rule 8.5.1 on "Movement" confused me. I've only shot a couple of local Multi-gun matches and I'm only C class and the people I asked about it said "should" is the key word and they don't engage the safety when moving with a rifle. Can some more experience folks please post on this? Thanks, Chris.
  12. I'm signed up and ready for the USPSA Area 6 3-Gun Nov 7-9 at South River Gun Club in Covington, GA , already have a hotel room booked. Anyone from the Jacksonville, FL area want to carpool? Thanks, Christian Eidsmoe A57472
  13. I've gotten over 3250 fps with FMJ 55's using Accurate 2520 at 26.0 grains out of my Armalite 20" SPR. (1in9 twist, chrome lined) CCI#450 small rifle mag primers. Very accurate, tiny group at 100m. The 75gr FMJBT's with this propellant and primer are just as tight but at 200m.
  14. Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it. You must be friends with the guy who puts the judgements below everyone's user name.
  15. Thanks for your time and info, Tim. I ended up getting a ranger rack, with some 5.11 AR pouches and a multi-purpose pouch for 12 GA shells. I'll have to get some of those shell strippers... I'm really not that competitive, I just want the experience and the grow in my technique and confidence. I played in a band for years and I know that practice is practice and showtime is go time. My dad was a Sergeant Major in the Army and he always says "fight like you train/train like you fight". I've only done one local USPSA multi-gun and I was hooked! I wish I could find more matches near me (Jacksonville/St. Augustine FL) Best of luck, but hope you don't need it! By the way, what load for shotgun do you use? (other than slugs when required)
  16. 22 rounds?! What caliber is that? Mine only hold 13! Plus, I've only been a USPSA'er for 2 years, not planning on winning yet. thanks.
  17. Sure they do! http://youtube.com/watch?v=nWxgCl-w-w8 http://www.lapolicegear.com/itw-fastmag-fa...ag-carrier.html http://blade-tech.com/-NEW-AR-15-M16-Pouches-pr-974.html Wow, I need to get better at Googling and ebay searching! Thanks.
  18. thanks for the reply. I'd recognize Thor's Hammer anywhere- is that inked?
  19. I don't like the feeling of 10lbs of gun/gear around my waist- My XD .45 Tactical is heavy enough, Especially with 4-5 mags, plus all those 12 GA slugs and shells plus an AR mag ?! Anyone use a Ranger Rack or MOLLE vest instead? I like it for bird hunting myself. Thanks.
  20. Thank you Linda, I understand. My work gets in the way of my shooting activities all the time too! Thanks for your volunteer work. Christian - I got your 2 email messages & your sign in. I will respond as soon as I have a chance. I am at work & cannot send email from here. I am a volunteer at this match, with a fulltime job. I usually respond within 48 hours. Your first message was sent less than 24 hours ago. I appreciate your enthusiasm & would like to ask for your patience Linda Chico (L-2035) 2008 Ft Benning 3 Gun Statistician
  21. I did not know until a couple days ago if I would be working in California or Florida come December, now I know I'll be in Jacksonville, FL. Any chance to get on the waiting list? Thanks, Christian Eidsmoe
