  1. I'll double check it today, but since the press is brand new, and I've only made a few dozen rounds of ammo. I am hopeful its the doo-hickey, because if it is the thingamajig or the whatsit it'll be WAY over my head.
  2. I've reviewed the manual and the video, and have made sure that I have the right size internal primer tube and tha tthe tube has slipped into the notch. Guess I'll call Dillon tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestions.
  3. A little more information please: What do you mean by "loose primers . . ."? All the primers that are no longer in the primer tube! When they pour out, I end up with primers on the bench, primers on the floor, primers in the primer cup, and primers on the primer slide.
  4. Every other time I load primers into my new 550B, at least 1/2 of them end up pouring out the bottom of the primer feeder. Once I move all the loose primers out of the way, the feeder works just fine. Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong to have primers pouring out the feeder?
  5. My P1640TJ is a series 80.
  6. I guess what I'm looking for is a way to guesstimate just how much faster the ammo will run. If I make 165 at 20, shoudl I expect 170 at 80, or should I expect something *much* faster?
  7. Before I got my press, I simply left my brass on the ground when I practiced or plinked out on the farm. Between my back yard and my favorite spot on the farm, there are probably several thousand recoverable rounds of brass. Problem is that some of this brass has been outside and in the mud for years. Is it worth the time and trouble to pick it up and clean it, or should I stick with the brass I'm picking up as I shoot and once fired range brass?
  8. Its a toasty 20 degrees farenheit today. If I work up a load that makes a PF of 165 today, what should I expect at higher temps? Is there a linear correlation (i.e. X fps per degree F?)?
  9. Glad to see this thread. I'm in the process of working up a Clays/180 major load for my 6" Limited gun. First load was 3.0@1.125, which made a great minor load with a PF of 140. Read up a little more and adjusted the OAL out to 1.2 for the 2nd run and 3.2 gave me a PF of 122! Cycled the slide enough to cock the hammer but didn't even begin to eject. Obviously, I've got a ways to go, but its nice to see someone else's numbers. We'll see what 3.4 does tomorrow.
  10. The best cats pick you, and not the other way around. Looks like you have a new friend.
  11. You know, I say smoke'em if you got'em, but I don't need to know about it!
  12. I've seen several posts from people who say they never reload S&B brass. Why is that? I've got several hundred rounds of S&B, and a couple hundred rounds of S&B brass. What sort of problems shoudl I expect if I use this brass?
  13. Amen, brother, amen! Hope she never finds out how much they cost, either!
  14. Pay attention to farmers and cowboys. There's a reason the straw hat and the cowboy hat have been around for so long.
  15. I'm pretty curious about that as well. I can't find it listed in stock anywhere.
  16. I'm partial to purple and royal myself, but then, I'm also man enough to wear pink. Thanks for picking 100% cotton! I never wear the dreaded sisters - Polly and Esther!
  17. Lim - 4 pouches - seldom use more than 2 mags/stage. SS - 6 (3 double pouches) + Barney mag in pocket. Seldom use more than 4 mags/stage.
  18. Wow- Wappapello and Hayti. Small world!
  19. I'm shooting the SS Nationals on Friday and Saturday. Does anything go on Saturday night? I'm trying to decide whether I want to stay in Quincy after the match, or go ahead and get a couple of hours down the road towards home.
  20. The formula E=MC2 actually refers to the fact that Jerry Miculek is so fast time moves backwards when he shoots.
  21. I agree completely. The reloaded ammo from Atlanta Arms is great stuff, priced right, and chronos just above power factor. They also support they sport. Great folks.
  22. I'd be happy to just know when the matches were scheduled without having to look at a half dozen websites. It wouldn't bother me to send an email or make a call to confirm that the East Podunk Pistol Shooters still plan to hold their match on a given date.
  23. It'd be nice if the USPSA could maintain a national calendar that not only included major matches, but also included club matches. Ideally, members could access an online calendar and on any given date pull up every scheduled club level or higher match in the country. Given that many clubs already post calendars on their websites or in their newsletters, it would seem that it wouldn't be that hard to cc the USPSA for the database. Maybe it could be included in the data sent when clubs send in classifier scores. I've seen calendars like this for other organizations, and they're a great resource. I'd love to be able to quickly check the national calendar when I schedule a business trip or vacation and see if there was a match I could squeeze in.
  24. If you can't tell the difference, and they both function, does it really make a difference?
