  1. I will sort of go against the grain here. Open is different ....but not too much! First piece of advice - Open is a fast game...don't think you will keep up at first. Ask me how I know that. Just relax and "see what you need to see". As far as the dot - see what you need to see (have you heard that before?) Some of the best advice I ever got was to use the dot how I needed it. Dont think for one minute that it is "wrong" to look at the dot. If I am taking a long, difficult shot, darn right I am looking at the dot. I use it as a sight (isn't that what it is?) Basically use the gun for what you need. Opinions are like.... Open, Limited, Single Stack etc....get the gun out NOW! You will be surprised at how much that will help you. Being ready to shoot when you arrive is another big step. As mentioned - double plug! Whether it helps your shooting or not it will save your hearing! Find the perfect load and stick with it! Your gunsmith is a great place to start. Once you find a load that feels good and keeps the dot in the glass then quit chasing your tail and run with it. I know several people that spend too much time chasing the holy graille of loads...only to waste time. Find it, load it, shoot it! Use what works for you! If TJ or Max stated that Double Bubble Bubblegum made them shoot better then you would see the sales increase! Point is....nothing will work for you like it works for someone else. If a 90 degree mount is your desire then go for it....if not then dont. Holster - choose a sturdy one. I have tried them all and I have the checkbook to prove it. In Open (and all divisions) you need a solid setup. Dont waste time and money - get one that works and is solid. Basics - get back to them. Open is no different than any other division. You wont' set the world on fire if you don't practice. Dryfire is your friend. Did I mention dryfire? But before you leap into all of that...make sure you know and understand your "natural point of aim". How do you find it? Close your eyes and draw the gun on a target. Is it aligned? If not then adjust your feet. Once you find it then know it! Knowing your NPOA is huge in Open...for some of us anyway. Lastly....keep it simple. I have purchased it all. Its like having the right lures in your tackle box! Bottom line is this - PERFECT PRACTICE! There...now you owe me $500 Feel free to PM me...good luck! Steve
  2. Short answer - Yes. The EGW and the new Double Alpha case guage are tighter than most, especially when testing for a Glock. I have rounds that will only fit halfway in the DA and fire fine in the wifes 34.
  3. Thank you very much for providing us with the shipping service. Just a heads-up....you may want a dolly for the box coming from us in Maryland. Its 52.3 lbs! We look forward to meeting you in person and shopping at your store! Steve and Cindi Thomas Yep we got it and don't worry, yours is not even close to the heaviest or the largest. Thanks! I have heard that many times in my life! See ya soon!
  4. Congrats on your performance Steve, 1st A and 3rd overall is awesome! I really hope Harvard gets Area 7 the next couple of years...not because it's so close to me and all...ahem. Thank you! 8. First off - you don't suck! I was working Stage 8 and you ran it well. Looking at your videos a couple things pop out. 1. Get the gun out NOW...always! Snatch that thing and be ready to go no matter if you are running 5 feet or taking a step. The same speed every time. 2. Be ready to shoot. That sounds simple but look at your videos. When you get to your position have the gun up ready to fire. If you have a wall in front of you then have a spot picked out that aligns with your target. As you approach that wall/spot have the gun up and ready, when you peak around the corner...BLAM! 3. See your spots/foot placement points. Dont be afraid to look a little longer as to where you want to be stopped. It only takes a nano second to find the target with the ol eye balls. Hope that helps. Steve
  9. Pat, Do you have a backup? If not...PM me.
  10. I'm sure it would help. I tried mine real quick without it, prior to replacing the rubber piece, and it allowed the primer slide to slam into the plate. There was no buffering at all which led to a mess and inproper primer feeding. Steve
  11. uggh...we are talking about two different things here. You are speaking of the spent primer chute/catch I am talking about the tiny rubber piece on the rear tang of the primer slide.
  12. I just tracked down the proper size vacuum hose for the primer slide on the 1050. I could only purchase it as it came....in several feet! Needless to say it will be enough to last my lifetime...my sons...my sons sons etc. Time to pay it forward. If anyone needs an inch or two please PM me your name and address. I will part with some until I reach my desired leftover amount. Steve
  13. If you switch...get one that runs. I have seen Glocks run and run. M&P's not so much. Then again, people tinker too.
  14. Trust me...I can save you LOTS of money!!!!!
  15. Is your decapping pin sharp/pointy? If so file it down a little, make it blunt. I had the same problem before.

  17. Kevin, I will probably get flamed for this BUT...best to keep them off anyway. The extra weight has a way of messing up the electrical contacts on the C-more switch and will also break the adjustment shaft. Ask me how I know... I had a long talk with C-more and they strongly advise against the additional knobs out there. Steve
  18. Buy from Sean at Power Factor shooting...you will be happy you did! http://www.powerfactorshooting.com/default.asp
