    My new SS

We missed you yesterday. It wasn't the same without one of your stages to shoot. Looks like a nice gun. (At least it's not purple like the one you shot last week. ) It's not too late to sign up for GA on Saturday. Hey Scott, yeah it is too late for me. Hollar tried to talk me into going but after late fee for registration and hotel I would be to broke to have any fun. See you at Rowan on Saturday. Later, John

    My new SS

Well got to shoot on Thrusday night and it ran OK cleaned it and lubed everything up and it ran a bit better it is very tight . I really like the way it felt and once I got around 100 rounds it started to loosen up a little and cycle a little better. Did not get to shoot a match this weekend my wife had a minor procedure on Friday and did not recover as well as thought and since I like sleeping indoors and with both eyes closed I stayed with her over the weekend. I will give a range report in two weekends after Sir Walter. But so far I am loving it.

    My new SS

I am hoping to shoot it this weekend in its first match, going to shoot it tonight and see if there are any bugs to work out. Hoping that it will work well with my Lim 40 load. It should in theory. But I failed philosophy in college
  4. A couple of years ago I was in line at a drive up ATM and the person in front of me must have been in a hurry and drove off. Well I pulled up and went to stick my card in the slot a there was their card. So I just waited for a few minutes and then slid the card in the slot punched in three #'s and let the machine eat it. I know it is a pain to deal with the bank to get the card back but it beats the alternative that some one else gets it and uses it for theor own gain.

    My new SS

For all to see. I finally got it yesterday. My gun store actually statyed open late so I could pick it up after hours. It is a Trojan from Brazos 40 Grips are From GetnGrip. SVI mag well STI front optic sight Brazos trigger job breaks 2.2 lbs according to my scale. Can't wait to shoot it tonight. I am running Cobra 10MM mags.
  6. I really like the Kart National Match barrel and Briley spherical comp. Shot one of those this weekend great shooting gun.
  7. Yepper I married Ms. right just did not realize that her first name was ALWAYS... Got caught in something like that used to be a auto tech and have the great big tool box. I can tell you what drawer what section any tool is located. But always seem to have to ask where my socks are.

    The eyeballing game

8.11 parallelagram gives me a fit.
  11. Do any of you know of a vendor that makes plastic grip panels for a 1911? I want to have Jim Hart at GetNGrip do a set for my new SS and I am having a fit trying to find some one that makes plastic ones. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, John
  12. I agree with Flex, I think that everyone that wants to be an RO at a local match needs to take an RO class to learn what they are calling and why. It really opened my eyes as to what you can and can not do. I still hear a lot of people give the LMR, give me a nod when you are ready etc. This past weekend while on a VA count stage I had a no shoot made up the shot of course from reflex and had a hit. So a procedural for the extra shot, and one for the extra hit. Well I had to tell the RO that it is 2 not one procedural. When I was done the squad ahead of me the RO said dang I had that happen to me and only called the one. So even the rules are not being fairly followed. We all need to have an understanding of the rules course designers and competitors.
  13. If you had purchased 1000.00 worth of Anheuser Bush you would have 2362.36 Then you could buy a keg and that new blaster.
  14. Talked today to a lady at Dawson all you people that had pre-orderd the dawson tune kit they have shipped. There is to be another production run and they are saying a two week turn on the next run. Some one please post results. I am still sending Howard some mags to get worked on. Just interested in tuning some of the SPS mags that I have that no one will touch.
  15. First match first stage was sent home for sweeping my leg. I was like huh how else are you supposed to run with a gun. It has been three years and I have never done that since. I praticed for a month in the garage running with the gun up. Helped me more than anything I have ever done. Also been DQ'ed for 180 actually called it on myself and have knock on wood not done that either. I think the junior should have been DQ'ed you have to learn from your mistakes and the rules are there for a reason.
  16. Great thanks guys - I will order one of the Aluminum ones today. Will post pics along with application soon.
  17. Question, I am assuming that the SVI magwell and main spring housing installed on a STI trojan will be below the required 43 oz rule for SS. I am new to the SS game after shooting Lim and was surprised by this rule. I am planning on using the trip 10mm mags for 40 plastic base pads. Am I better to get this and then see what it weighs or should I be OK. I saw on the STI site that they have the weight listed as 36 oz. not sure if that is with mag or not. Any one have any suggestions have not bought the magwell yet waiting for the blaster to arrive from Brazos. Thanks, Hopefully future member of the 1911 Single Stack Elitist Club...
  18. I will tumble the brass in crushed walnut then corn cob for about an hour. If they sit in an ammo can for a while then I will tumble the rounds in just dry rice. They are soooo pretty never had a feed issue due to ammo.
  19. Jack not sure you want to throw down that challenge. Linda is awesome and I enjoyed working the SC match last year. I am looking forward to working and shooting it again this May.
  20. The only warning is that the Metal base pads will not seat and will have to be doctored to seat 100%. The plastic base pads worked 100%
  21. I heard this, this morning on Bob and Tom. A bum walked up to me this morning and asked for change. So I gave him a Obama bumper sticker....

    Naked Cowboy

For your amusement I present the following: The Sheriff in a small town walks out in the street and sees a blond cowboy coming down the street with nothing on but his cowboy hat, gun, and his boots, so he arrests him for indecent exposure. As he is locking him up, he asks 'Why in the world are you dressed like this?' The Cowboy says: 'Well it's like this Sheriff ... I was in the bar down the road and this pretty little red head asks me to go out to her motor home with her. So I did.We go inside and she pulls off her top and asks me to pull off my shirt so I did. Then she pulls off her skirt and asks me to take off my pants .. so I did. Then she pulls off her panties and asks me to pull off my shorts . so I did. Then she gets on the bed and looks at me kind of sexy and says, 'Now go to town cowboy... ', and here I am. 'Son of a Gun, Blond Men do exist.
  23. I have a good one. Saturday at the NC Sectional worked stage 8 the dummy stage. It had 6 metric targets broken into two arrays of 3. Starting position holding a dummy with a broom stick for arms. I had been telling people all day Sat don't over think it is not that hard just get your hits and you will be fine. Well here comes Sunday. I had been shooting pretty well for me walked up heard the same stage briefing I had read 1000 times Sat and then sat down. Ok my turn to shoot. I get the dummy the way I wanted it. Beep 12 shots in 5.07 with a Lim Gun. of the 12 shots fired 9 find there way to the scoring part of the target. I get done ULSC, look at my buddy and say 1 mike. He shakes his head and says nope 3. I almost collapsed... Saw the results and I was dead last on that one. holly crap. Any way learned a valuable lesson on that stage never take anything for granted and treat all stages like it was the first time you had seen them even if you spent 8 hours running people on it the day before. Oh yeah and try to get a good view of that funny little thing on the front of the gun. My buddy said it is the front sight... You know they named a magazine after it so it must be pretty important...
  24. I too would like to thank all the staff. Had a great time shooting on Sunday and working on Satuerday. Hope to see you all back out there looks like the 2009 will be sometime around May 15 - 17. John
