  1. Awesome seeing more South Africans joining the forum. Hope you shooting the nationals in Pretoria!
  2. Wow, those chrome lined barrels sure do last. Maybe I am being over cautious for nothing. If I change you more than welcome to it. I might have a colt upper (sp1) laying around. Drop me a pm if you keen, I will send you some pics.
  3. Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately I am limited on the budget so cannot build up another AR for the moment. There is nothing really wrong with the gun, I am just being pro active in rebarreling it as I assumed the gun is old and I have no history on the gun. How many rounds are these barrels good for?
  4. As the topic states, I am replacing my rifle length barrel on my colt sp1. Was thinking of going with a 16 mid length. Is this recommended for IPSC rifle? Any ideas if it will make factor? The furthest distance we shoot is about 150 yards. If it s recommended to change over what parts do I need? I have the barrel and gas tube on my list. Have the standard front sight with gas block. Any thing else? Thanks for looking.
  5. I fitted mine by myself. At first it took some figuring out where to file, but once that was figured out there were no problems. It took me about 2 hours, but I fitted/measured twice and filed once to ensure I didnt remove to much material. 3 of the 5 SPS mags I have, worked perfectly. The other 2 required light sanding to make them fit.
  6. As per subject, I would be interested to hear from fellow extrema owners if they have managed to ghost load them and what mods should be done if any to make them ghost loadable?
  7. I was about to order an AA chute but now I am quite curious as to why you recommend the Dmw claw.
  8. I have heard that the Benelli and the Beretta share similar characteristics. Can anyone confirm this?
  9. I shoot one in open. I built my own speed loader bracket and it works very good. Love the shotgun! Nothing stock works so you have to do your own. Ralph Arredondo also has one with his own loader bracket. Problem is he can't sell them without violating the patent on the tech loaders. You also have to extend the lifter like they do on the Benneli's for the speed loaders to work properly. Can you please upload some pics of the bracket you made? How did you manage to measure where the bracket should be attached as I am pretty sure there is a sweet spot for the placement. I would also appreciate pics of the lifter. I am in SOuth Africa for the rest of the year so all of this work would need to be done by myself.
  10. I am interested in purchasing the Beretta Extrema 2 for use in 3gun open division. Does anyone have experience with the installation of speed loader brackets onto these?
  11. That bad? Will definitely stay away, although a friend of mine purchased his without doing any homework. Perhaps I should give him the bad news. I don't think he will resell it, so do you know if extended mags are available or if the mags are compatible with other box fed guns?
  12. Does anyone have any experience with this shotgun? It is box fed like the siaga but based on the AR platform.
  13. I believe the hole spacing on them is metric, so it will not fit the standard pattern. Did they specify the pattern? I have one here that bolts up directly to the Serendipity mounting pattern (gun was originally fitted with a Quinn II, swapped on the DAA without issue). That was close... I thought I was going to have a paper weight . I'll email Saul anyway to confirm.
  14. The cape mount looks like a good option, but I am quite paranoid. If I remove the scope, clean the gun and reattach the scope I am going to zero my gun again. That defeats the point of this scope mount completely, for me. I have recently ordered one of the DAA mounts and I am waiting for it anxiously. I think it's a very innovative mount, although I am not sure I would use the thumb rest. The main reason for me ordering it is because it is available in black anodized. The fold out support arm and blast shield is a bonus for me.
  15. No problem. Give me a day or two. So it seems I have already dumped the cracked Grams basepads, I have however taken pics of a spare one I have to illustrate where the crack develops. YOu need to bear i nmind that I only use 170mm mags and the cracks obviously start when the mags are dropped on the floor, hence my reasoning for a metal pad. they tend to develop on the thinnest part of the plactic where the u clip can be seen. It has happened on 4 of the 5 that I had.

Nope. I tried calling cmore but they were not as helpful as expected. I ppopped my spare one on for now. Are you having a similar problem?
  17. I have the folding ones on my super and I must say it works great. They are held open by magnets and I think it will hold up for a while. You cannot shoot with them closed as the pressure pushes them back up (if that makes any sense). THe reason I went with the folding one is because I can pack the gun into my bag without the wings getting in the way.
  18. And why not Bolen follower/spring? Probably because they are so thin/tippy and rounds getting under them is a fun thing to resolve. That being said bevel/polish the ends of the creases and this problem magically disappears. Seriously though why not the grams base too? It's easier to remove for cleaning. I am now thinking that the awesome setup would be bolen insides and a 4mm grams base with prayer to make the gauge. So does anyone know which base has more volume the bolen or grams in a given length? I had stock of the grams kit already. When I purchase stuff from abroad I always ending up purchasing more than what I need so I was not going to spend additional cash on the Bolen stuff. I needed new base pads and went for the bolen. The reason not grams is because I found the plastic ones tend to crack near the holes. I can describe it in detail if required and take pics. The grams is alum so it holds up a bit more.
  19. I only purchase SPS mags. I shove grams follower and spring and a bolen pad. works flawlessly out of the box in both of my supers.
  20. If you are really interested I can find out regarding the insurance etc. On the other hand, If it will give you a bit of relief, I can purchase your items and ensure that it leaves here using DHL.
  21. Living in South Africa and having the need to support my habits..hmm hobbies I import most of my items. In the last 10 years or so I have only lost one package that came from the US. To give an indication I probably average about 10 parcels per annum. However, I do not have any experience sending from South Africa. The last package that I shipped from ZA was about 5 years ago to Cmore and that arrived after 12 working days. Good luck and I hope your parcel arrives.
  22. Eric, Do you have an indication as to when you might do this. I am really interested to see the comparison between the major contenders.
  23. I havent been following the compensator scene, but I am interested to find out why you would like to try the comp above? Have there been massive advancements in comps? To me they all look a like
