  1. Do you guys mind expanding a bit more on the alternatives to the Magnifier? I was also interested in getting myself one of these.
  2. You can't use the longer rifle spring because the internal dimensions of the carbine and rifle tubes are different. OK - So I assume the spring that came with the adjustable stock is for the carbine length. Is there a rifle length buffer as well?
  3. Rifle 11 3/4" to 13 1/2" (for rifle stocks only regardless of the length of the upper). Carbine 10 1/16" to 11 1/4" (for carbine stocks only regardless of the length of the upper). Ok - Now I am confused. :-) This stock is adjustable. And can be used in Rifle and Carbine length. How would I know what to use. Can you post a pic of your stock one just like it? Most 'adjustable' stocks have carbine length buffers and springs. I have this exact one - If I do in fact have the carbine length spring can I use the standard spring that came with the gun to see if that works??? The gun came with the standard Ar-15 stock. Non adjustable one.
  4. Rifle 11 3/4" to 13 1/2" (for rifle stocks only regardless of the length of the upper). Carbine 10 1/16" to 11 1/4" (for carbine stocks only regardless of the length of the upper). 5. Thanks for all of the responses - Much appreciated. Kurt - I am not sure what type of lower I have BUT when I fitted the Upper I needed an offset pin. This I would assume makes my lower a "big pin" lower as you put it because the upper had a smaller hole than the lower. Other than the offset pin, what other adapters to I need to have in order to solve the problem? Gotm4 - This is a rifle length AR. What length am I looking at for this rifle in comparison to the carbine length
  6. Hi Guys, I am pretty new to the 3 gun equipment. I have an oldish type AR-15. I recently fitted a flat top receiver and an adjustable stock. This is the type of stock that was purchased and fitted Adjustable Stock with Pic After fitting, I am finding it difficult for the bolt/action to go back into battery. After the shot is fired, the bolt sort suspends at the open position, with or without the mag inserted. The only way to get it back to battery is either to shake the living daylights out of it or actually hitting it on the side. Is the problem with the flat top or the stock. My guess is the stock and I have no idea what to adjust and/or check. Can anyone assist???
  7. I was in the same position you were in a few months ago. I could not decide which way to go and decided to take the risk and build it. Unfortunately there are no other short guns here for me to test. And, yes I love it. I feel its much more comfortable in my hand and with the first hew hundred rounds I was actually overtracking pass the targets. Nothing some dry firing sorted out..... Its a little snappier if you can call it that compared to the 5" but up close its actually quite easy to let all hell break loose
  8. Been lurking around here for a very long time without adding pics of my blasters. I was dry firing last night and has some free time and took these... Firstly, this is old faithful. I did about 70 000 rounds and welded up a few cracks on the slide and frame and its still running. Its about clumsy now that I have the shorty 4.5" slide but it still works and will probably just replace the barrel in time to come.... O yah, excuse the pics. It was taken with my HTC cellphone..... Now for the new one. Only fired about 1000 rounds. Here you can see the difference in length...
  9. Topmauls post about dot size for shotgun got me thinking. How does the JP sight work with the melt in mount? What bonding agent is used becuase if I am not mistaken the mount is attached directly to the barrel and those things get pretty darn hot. Any info on this??? Thanks
  10. Hey Jon, Yes, it was an awesome evening. It was a pity you left the Friday but perhaps next time you could come and shoot a match here over. Hope your buddy is doing much better and that you enjoyed the dinner... Dont worry about the age thing. I get it quite often so I am used to it . Looking forward to your next visit here. Chat soon.... Btw - Yumna gave her regards.
  11. Yup, using the old barrel and handguard.
  12. Wow that was quick - Thanks I am not concerned about the forward assist, mainly the flat top for the scopes. I take it there wont be any problems leaving an assist that is not functional.
  13. I am thinking if purchasing one similar to this. Is there anything I should like out for? Is it a straight swop obviously with the correct tools? I have an old AR without the forward assist, will this work on mine? SOrry for all the questions...
  14. Thanks guys. Skywalker, Do you have any idea what these go for? Are you currently using one?
  15. Do you have websites for the open guns used above?
  16. I recently got myself the 3 gun US nationals DVD and noticed that most of the top guns are using the JP/Doctor sight on their shotguns. Is there any specific reason besides the fact that the scope is closer to the bore of the barrel. I have been contemplating fitting the cmore onto mine because it has a larger viewing area for the dot. Any thoughts on this? Pros/Cons
  17. Thanks Charles, only problem is if the seller is willing to ship to ZA, but I will cross that bridge once one is for sale. I have searched the forum and came across the Millet DMS. Any opinions on this? I believe its pretty new.
  18. Slightly off topic, but do you guys know if there is a limit for IPSC open?
  19. Thanks, I think you guys answered all of my questions.
  20. So, I am in South Africa and unfortunately cannot try out all of the scopes mentioned above. Can anyone explain to me what the difference is between the sights above and a normal hunting scope. Stupid question I know but this is all new to me.
  21. I do agree, I have 1 28 rounder that I use which is reliable. However I like playing around with new equipment. I guess I have too much time on my hands.
  22. GE, As mentioned I have an SPS tube that roughly measures about 165mm, if I use your 4mm base pad do you think I can get about 2 extra rounds. I am experimenting because I am in ZA and its a little difficult getting a variety of spares here.
  23. If Beven does not file the pad the only other place to file is probably the feed lips at the top. This obviously depends how much needs to be filed off. Can you point me to Bevens thread where he discusses this. Mo, i got lost on all of the threads that i have read...ill see if i can find it again, he did not start the thread he replied on it because someone wanted to file the basepad and Beven replied saying that it would make the plastic base pad too thin and might break it or something like that No problem - thanks though. I agree that if you do file the plastic pads they will give in eventually when droppong them etc. I am busy with a 29 rounder. At the moment I have an SPS tube. This measures about 164-165mm, an SPS extended follower with spring. As for the pad, I have tried the SPS one and I do get 29, however it does not make the 170mm mark. I am currently experimenting with a dawson +1 international. The reason for this is that it is not plastic, but aluminium and I can file away within reason... Hope this helps...
