  1. That hasn't been my experience. Its not quick but I haven't found any lack of precision in the process. I do end up back in the modeling space before its all done. I agree that's where the "math" is, in modeling. I've found that drawing a constraining box or feature in modeling and then using the surface space to fill it with cool curvy stuff works pretty well. Then back to model space if I need to clean it up, or measure something. This is with F360.
  2. Sculpting or surfacing are pretty amazing once you play with them. I use the words interchangeably, not sure if thats correct. It seems foreign to a mechanic like me to start out with a mass that you can push around like clay. It was much easier to use cad when I treated it like a block of metal that I machined away to be what I wanted. But once my head got around the idea it's just a super cool way to make some complex curvy shapes. Just the kind of shapes that cnc is so good at doing.
  3. I used to have one of those, they're super cool for what they are. It'll be fun!
  4. Agree with this ^^^^^ Trail boss and 230gr LRN is working well for me in my 625. I was thinking about clipping my kframe as well, good to hear the clips are a no go. I didn't even think about that.
  5. That's a pretty good idea! I have some scopes laying around. Never thought of making a tripod mount for one. Thanks!
  6. That is interesting, I admittedly have never used CFE but I have done some testing with multiple powders in multiple guns. Never that much difference. Good to know, thanks for posting! Kevin
  7. Loved his music. Rip Lemmy. http://www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/music/hard-living-lemmy-kilmister-mot-rhead-dies-70-band-confirms-n487071
  8. Bob Warfield over at Cnccookbook.com just made this available as a pdf. It was amazingly informative for me when I discovered it. It's been on his website for a long time, but pretty cool you can take it with you. He will try to sell you his software as he talks about machining. I love his speed and feed software, the simulator not so much. Gotta love free stuff http://www.cnccookbook.com/CCBasicGCodePDFDownload.html?mc_cid=80d2decdda&mc_eid=2da2547db6
  9. No you're trying to post process to Mach3, you need to change that. EMC or Linux
  10. Can tormach help on monday? I don't know if you want to get into configuring linuxcnc on a tormach/pathpilot pc. might be a can of worms. lots of subtle differences i'd imagine in the config files.
  11. and if you can past the gcode file here, maybe there's something weird about it. After you post process and transfer to path pilot, paste that file here. Or call Tormach in the morning LOL. They probably know whats up.
  12. Can you make a simple model, try to post the code and see if it works. Like just a block with one cut, a simple g1 pass.
  13. ok, try the other one maybe. If not you may have to edit the code a little to make it work.
  14. what post processor are you using? did you try one of the two I suggested?
  15. Is there an error code? what do you mean exactly won't accept? we might need some screenshots
