  1. Nicely written. I think that expresses how so many of us feel about this forum and the people here. You've definitely given back RoundGun, thank you. Here's to many more years Take care Kevin
  2. So sorry for your loss, glad you brought her home. I suffered a personal loss recently and as my girl Luna lies next to me I can't imagine going through it without her. Dogs are just the best. When you can, get another one. Take care Kevin
  3. "the lawyer got a 1/3, the parasite netted 400k", plantiff is definitely the parasite being referred to by the op.

    The Knowing Mind

Good stuff, thanks. It's not a zen book, but "Incognito: The Secret Lives of the Brain" by David Eagleman really clued me into how little of what I think I know or see is reality. Most of it is the result of the subconcious deciding what it thinks I want to know or see. Made me question a lot, pay more attention. I like your example of trying to determine when knowing the truck was there became judging it. I'm gonna do that today. Thanks again Kevin P.S. That's all alphas up there, with one charlie. One I see anyway. ETA We just got a dog. A 2 1/2 year old shepherd from a rescue. I don't think she judges anything, she just seems to know. I might have a lot to learn from her.
  5. RIP my friend, you will always be missed. Can't imagine what the f*#k I'm gonna do with out you around.

    Suicide

I hate him for the decision he felt he had to make. I hate her for telling him she was leaving him for another guy on Tuesday and having a realtor at the house on Wednesday. Me for just telling him to come over and stay at my place if it went to shit, and not going over there to make sure he was ok. I should have known it was a possibility, never even occurred to my dumb ass. You were only a few miles away. Who the f*#k am I gonna shoot with now a_-hole. RIP my friend. For 17 years you were my best friend. CLOSED
  7. You're gonna dig season 5 for sure. Turned into one of my favorite series of all time. Kevin
  8. I'm really fascinated by this, mostly because I'm sure it's gonna happen to me. I've had to seriously pull on a bore snake before. So hydrogen peroxide is harmful to nylon(assuming a bore snake is nylon). http://www.mountainproject.com/v/effects-of-chlorine-on-nylon-rope/106408671#a_106409656 Chlorine is too, but the stainless won't like it. 304 and 316 stainless are good with the hydrogen peroxide http://www.ozoneservices.com/articles/004.htm I don't know what alloy your barrel is so check on that for sure. But maybe take another bore snake, you're probably not fond of them right now anyway, and soak it in some house hold hydrogen peroxide. Maybe it will weaken it enough that the double fold in the chamber end will give. That will at least give you some idea of how it would work and the soak time needed. Just trying to come up with something constructive. I've never tried this and don't know if it will work or damage your barrel. Might be worth a little science expirement though. Kevin
  9. Just a thought, have you tried calling Boresnake? Maybe they've got some tips. You're obviously not the first customer with this problem.
  10. This is the tool I would use,,I have used them in my job and when you get it hooked something is going to move, they are strong and the tips are replaceable,,good luck. I'd go with this too. They're for removing packing out of the stuffing box of a pump. I use them pretty regularly and they're very stout. I'm not sure it will work, but worth a try before burning. Is there not an acid that would affect nylon and not the barrel material? Perhaps a very diluted solution? Anything to soften the material. Another thought is freezing the snake solid. Any welding shop/gas supplier would have liquid nitrogen. You could try freezing the snake and breaking it out that way. The nitrogen won't harm the barrel at all, some people pay to have their barrels cryo treated. Wear heavy gloves and a face shield for sure, the nitrogen will freeze skin on contact. Good luck, and let us know how it works out. I'm sure it'll happen to me some day. Kevin
  11. http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2013/06/world-record-rifle-and-second-br-gun-stolen-from-r-wagner/ Two BR rifles stolen in Hendersonville, NC. One of which just set a world record. Descriptions, pics and serials in the story. Just putting it out there, maybe some body will spot them. AccurateShooter.com is offer a reward as well. Kevin
  12. A thread on cnczone shows this mod to a g0704 to help with tramming http://www.cnczone.com/forums/benchtop_machines/96443-new_grizzly_g0704-27.html Little bolt on brackets with set screws and lock nuts. These are the pics from the post. On a side note, I think I knew but had forgotten that the Pres. and CEO of Grizzly Industrial is a very successful precision rifle shooter. http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2013/02/match-winning-rifle-shiraz-balolias-300-wsm-f-open-rig/ I kinda like buying a mill from a guy that shoots a rifle like that! AND it's not easy to pull off that moustache.
  13. http://www.cnccookbook.com/CCMillTramming.html A good read on tramming
  14. No problem, happy to help. I'm constantly amazed, impressed by the work OG is doing with that little mill. I had no idea it would handle that kind of work. For Christmas this year I'm getting a mill instead of the usual new gun. 2014 is gonna be fun!(and expensive lol) Kevin
  15. Sent you a PM. ETA All the fitting info is in the Jerry K books. Get both of them and read them several times. Tons of good info here in the gunsmith section. Gonna be a fun, but lengthy learning process. The slide mill work, you've seen OG do it already. So the mill can do it.
  16. " There doesn't seem to be a slam-dunk hobby solution, everything else has huge handicaps IMO :/ I've been dissapointed in the toolpaths generated by the cheap CAM systems out there. " Agreed. But for $200 on sale I guess I don't expect NASA. That's like two hours of skilled labor. I kinda see it as a gcode training tool. Gives me somewhere to start. By the way huge kudos for the tts suggestion. I was just reading about that last week on cnczone. Anybody just starting out ,including me, will totally appreciate the heads up. Thanks Kevin
  17. If the manual mill and the assoc. tooling is in your hobby budget then go for it and have a good time! You can cnc it like OG's later if yore digging it. I'm no where near doing work like J or any of these other guys. But I'm having so much fun with a manual Bridgeport at work that I'm definitely gonna get my own hobby mill at home. Our stock room manager came to me last week. He wanted to put two additional pickups on his electric guitar. I don't know anything about guitars but he showed me the parts and I was able to say no problem. I made a perfect cut out in this pearly plastic plate for the parts he had. He got it wired up over the weekend and it totally made his day. Made mine too. Too me that's cool. I had a blast doing it.
  18. In all fairness his cad/cam package is industrial and the annual maintenance fees alone are probably more than your whole set up. Including the tooling. He is an engineer by trade. Cnccookbook.com has a killer sale right now, including meshcam. Cubify invent, Alibre hobby edition(parent company just changed not sure if its still called that), or Heekscad(free but difficult IMHO). Sketchup will export 2d to .dxf for free. I've tried the plugins for Sketchup to export .stl, not much luck for me. Meshcam will import 2d .dxf files. Buy a bundle on sale and either use one of the free ones or Invent @$49 and you're cad/cam for under $300. Dskinsler don't sell yourself short bro. If you see it as enjoyable hobby you can do no wrong. You'll just have a good time while constantly learning. If all you want is that open gun then just go buy it. Otherwise get a little bad a$$ mill like these guys and have a good time. A stress free period of learning. If you find you don't enjoy the process you can get most of your dough back no problem. But you might just find that the process is more rewarding than any short term result. I do my milling at work at lunchtime(not cnc). I truly don't mind when I screw up a part. Ok I curse for a minute, then I don't mind. I learn something every time, whether the part comes out good or not. Kevin
  19. Anything will help, sounds like your using it exactly as it was designed. This is just an academic discussion I think. It didn't sound to me like you were having a problem. Keep up the good work! I love what you're doing with that mill, work way beyond its appearance.
  20. Cool. And I do have a fan that I have pointing into the enclosure at the motor to help cool it. I use the touch method, if it is to hot to touch for more than a few seconds I shut'er down to cool off for a while but the fan does indeed make a world of difference. If you can't hold your hand on it it's at least 140deg. That's pretty conservative for a shutdown, but I'd do the same thing. Conservative is good. Motors I deal with at work usually alarm at 175 and shutdown at 200. That being said we pull them if we see 160 or so. A good running motor bearing, with a fan on the shaft of the motor, is really happy between 100 and 130. I've found these to be good parameters for 1/2 hp up to 400hp. Just my .02.
  21. Lol, been there done that. If she's over 40ft it's break out another ten thousand. For what its worth I bought cubify invent for cad. I'm loving that for $49. The only thing I have to compare it to is Heeks and Sketchup, but I think it's awesome. It won't import anything and only exports in .stl, but it's parametric. Way cool program for the dough. I use Heeks if I need to convert an existing file to .stl for cam, but for making a model, Invent is super easy. Forget the tutorials on the website. There's a guy on YouTube that did a full series, really easy to follow. Like 16 videos ,each about 10 min long. 2 week free trial, I bought it on the second day. Kevin
  22. If anybody on this thread is getting into this like I am G-Wizard, CNCcookbook.com, is having a sale. 15% off everything, I got a bundle deal with MeshCam, the Editor software and Calculator for $279. That's a pretty good deal considering that MeshCam is normally $250 on its own. Coupon code is "MAYDAY", good till the 20th. Just wanted to pass it along. Kevin
