Adding my Thanks and praises to the match! Larry and the whole FN crew did their usual job of putting together a great match with an unbelievable prize table. The side matches were nice and the half day format meant I actually got to shoot them. The only complaint there would be that now I really want one those SC1s! That is a really nice shotgun! I would like to add my thanks to all the great people out at Rockcastle who worked so hard to put on this match. That is one of the greatest shooting venues in the country for sure and it was so great to be back out there playing the game with all the great people in 3-Gun. Thirteen stages, all of which were challenging and fun in one way or another, very friendly and helpful ROs and staff and a really impressive prize table all came together to make a really successful match. WOW! What a cool and fun match! 18+ hours of driving each way for it and I would do it again next week! I any case I will be back next year without hesitation. I got to play with some toys that I haven’t even seen in person before and I got to take home some new toys that are really cool! Add to all that, I got to shoot with a great squad of some of the best shooters in the country and it all sums up to being one of the most fun matches I have shot. Congratulations to Daniel, Rob and Tyler for the 1,2, and 3 spots! Way to go guys! Ian, Chuck, Travis, Roseanne, Tiffany, the RO's and everyone else involved, did a great job to make this match something to remember and all deserve about a week of sleep now that it's in the books. Thank you all for your hard work; from my perspective it paid off in spades! Crimson Trace was unbelievably generous to all of us, shooters and ROs, by supplying most if not all the lights and laser gear a shooter needed to compete in the dark and by hosting the event in the first place. Round count is: Rifle: 92 Pistol: 64 Shotgun: 36 Optional SG or Pistol: 47 Stage Guns: 72 Each stage with shotgun will have 4-8 static clay birds. The birds are shotgun only. There are several stages that also give you the option of shooting plates or poppers with shotgun or handgun, your call. There are no slugs required or allowed. Also no reason at all for Buckshot. I'll try and get the match booklet online next week. It's pretty sweet. Crimson Trace's marketing group did up the book for us and it looks great. Trust me, it looks a lot better than the pencil sketches I sent to them. Excellent! Thanks Chuck! Thank you to everyone putting on this match. So I've been having so much fun playing with lights and lasers that I almost forgot about round counts and ammo types. Do you have a basic round count and will we need/want slugs and buck? Thanks! I can't wait to get out there and play! This is going to be awesome! James

Hang tight, all this is changing. This gun is worth people putting the effort into aftermarket parts. Sights, base pads, mag-well … they are all coming, and not too far down the road.

That is a pretty sweet looking setup! The FN boys and girls are already driving the little brother of this gun with impressive results. This long slide version could be really good for the 3-gun game. Rumor has it that extended base pads are already on the way too.

Makes sense to me. 200 yards and in the Circle plex will work great. Funny thing with that catalogue, for some reason they don't list/have the DCD in the tactical line. You have to look at the hunting line to get it. I don't know why anyone wouldn't want the hunting line scope anyway, its exactly the same other than the reticle and you get some nice bling with a gold band around it. I have a really cool National Wild Turkey Assoc. Pris in brown.

Honestly, if you are using the Circle Plex reticle the BDC dial may be just the ticket. I started with the Circle Plex and changed to the DCD reticle after finding things to be a bit too heavy in the Circle plex. You can set your Zero in such a way that the dot size and spacing to the vertical line below can give you pretty good range hold info. The problem is that the line and dot are so thick that at longer ranges they really obscure the target. By using the BDC dial you could optimize the reticle spacing for specific stages so that your holds aren’t obscuring your targets. Hope that makes you feel better. James

I agree, I have begged the Custom Shop guys to do, Something, but unfortunately the twelve of us that use these things aren’t quite enough market for them to invest in the development needed to offer more reticles. Luckily it's pretty dang good as it is, and they will do a custom BDC dial for you if you want. Oh yah, and there are rumors of something in the works, but you know how rumors go. I'm in the process of researching an new optic, and ran across this article...maybe the rumors were true??? http://www.theoutdoorwire.com/story/1334051064ffeqk2fw1mm Money quote - "BDC dials are available through Leupold's Custom Shop." How much does the custom shop charge to do one? The BDC Dial is indeed available, I think it is roughly $100 if you send them your scope. Dy-No! has had one done and made some posts about it. I believe he is pretty happy with the setup other than the dial being a bit tall. He is the guy to ask though, I know he has done quite a bit of testing with it. James

Great Match! Thanks to Rob, Pete, Chad, all the 3Gun Nation, and Ancient City Shooting Range people for their hard work putting it together. I had an absolute blast of a time. The stages were fast and fun with a ton of ways to break them down and shoot them differently. I don't think it was possible to not have a great squad at this match but everyone on Squad A was amazing to shoot with. I'm already looking forward to the next one. I don't see anything in the rules that stops you from carrying a flashlight in your hands, attached to your hat etc., but I think setting up a generator and arc light on a tripod might be considered gamesmanship . I imagine most folks will want to attach something to their rifle, and we are just letting everyone know that it will be OK to do this without violating the rules. Some may decide against using a light at all - it will be their call when they see the stage. Do lights with integrated lasers put you in Open?
