  1. I couldn't go this year, but I had a friend take my place and he took my son. I am getting real time scoring from the match and it looks great. Jim
  2. I will be there, first Area Match. Shooting a Glock 35 Limited. Anyone have any suggestions on Ammo? Buy local and being with you? Or buy on location? If you know the hotel that you are going to stay at, contact them and find out if they will let you ship a package to them. If that doesn't work, contact the Match Director and he should be able to give you a ship to address. I would not trust to being able to find ammo locally. Any suggestions for flying with your Guns? As to flying with your guns, go to the both the websites of the airline that you are flying and the TSA and do a search. That would be the only way to be sure as to what they want. Jim
  3. I am using a CompTac Belt Holster http://www.comp-tac.com/product_info.php?products_id=66 and my son is using one of their Belt Feed mag pouches http://www.comp-tac.com/product_info.php?products_id=33 . I have been nothing but pleased with their products. Jim
  4. I had a blast and so did my boy. Yes, we were both soaked thru to the skin, but a hot shower and a hot meal at the end of the day and we were ready to do it again. A big thanks to everyone on Squad 5 and a huge shout out to the RO's and everyone that worked on this match. This is my favorite match of the year. Jim
  5. Mine went to my Junk mail, only found it 3 hrs later. Ended up getting a Wed - Thrusday slot. Jim

  8. In the past this match has been a lost brass match, but I don't see this on the application or web site this year. Anyone know if we are going to be able to retrieve our brass this year? I have e-mailed Steve and as of yet have not received an answer. Jim
  9. Go here http://www.riopractical.com/ and click on the Western States Singlestack link on the left side of the page. Squadding and stages aren't posted yet. Jim
  10. Try this link, http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=47003#entry537735 maybe Shooters Connection. http://shootersconnectionstore.com/Default.aspx Jim
  11. Mike, Not only should you go and shoot, but take your son and have him shoot also. I started mine over two years ago (his is 15 now) and he is having a blast. This year he is going to shoot his second WSSSC, and his second High Desert Classic (it is all he has been talking about). I started him with a Sig P6 (P225) in Production, then moved him on to an XD40 and now all he wants to shoot is a Springfield loaded 1911. As long as he can follow basic safety instructions, he will be just fine and the added bonus is some really great bonding time with your boy, I know that from personal experience. So get out and shoot, bring the boy and have fun. Jim
  12. Larry, Nice looking gun. Where did you find those grips? I love the look of them. Also mine (STI Trojan) weighs 42.5 ozs with Ed Brown mag well, EGW titanium FLGR, a STI ambi safety and an empty Wilson ETM mag. Jim
  13. I know what you mean. I saw about 4 weeks ago and I am waiting for it to happen again. I just need to be patient waiting for it to happen again. Jim

  16. A huge thank you to all the staff and the match director for this match. A big thanks for the lady that let me sign up my son Friday for the match. He never stopped grinning the whole weekend. More thanks to all my squad mates for all the great advice and help that was given to my boy by them. As to the shooting, I need to work harder on my front sight. Thanks again. Jim
  17. Does anyone know when his next class will be? I just checked his website and nothing listed for the rest of this year. Jim
  18. My first major match and I had the time of my life To say that the stages where humbling would be an understatement. I learned a lot and will be back next year to do it again. Jim
