Good question because it might, a little. Best way to find out is to find out for yourself. Set up an 18 (not one of those goofy 35) round shotgun stage and run it once with an auto and once with a pump per the current rules or even modified rules. If the time is the same or near the same you are GTG. If not, modify some rule or rules until the runs are close. It's stil a moot point though. Even if level, the auto is still easier to shoot and gravity will still take it in that direction. chirpy, chirp, chirp

Let me be the first HM shooting cricket. Start with semi-auto shotgun with 9. At buzzer quad load to 13 while moving to shooting position (something most everybody does these days). Not much leveling of the playing field there. Same procedure for rifle, ditto for pistol. Not much leveling at all. My 2 cents, chirp chirp.

EkuJustice, Quick what if question. If I ditch the 11" barrel on my registered AR SBR and replace it with an 18" barrel, is it still an SBR subject to the rules you outlined above?

Just came across this thread and thought I'd resurrect it. I took the summer off from run-n-gun to do some BPCR long range precision shooting under the big shady oak trees over at the Youpon Creek club near Columbus, TX. It has been a whole lot of fun. Challenging, demanding, frustrating when you do bad and rewarding when you do good. Started out with a store bought Uberti Hi-Wall in 45-70, and now Santa is bringing me a Browning 1885 BPCR rifle. Anybody else shooting BPCR?

I've got the 10-22 on my M1. It stays folded down most of the time, even for slugs out to 80 yards. I just settle the big ole fiber optic front between the two screwheads on the rear. Hits slug targets pretty good and doesn't hinder flying clays or static steel in the least.

OP, the Hernando Sportsmans Club used to hold a rifle only match on the second saturday back when I was the match director there. They kept doing it after I left for Texas. Might be worth a look to see if it's still being put on.

2014 Fallen Brethren Challenge

Sorry for the DQ, but way to go hgr2. I've finally switched from ice packs on my knees to Bio-Freeze ointment. Onward to the next one. Special thanks to the RO's that ran with us up and down and across the Texas Terrain. One RO told me he yelled "hit" over 3000 times. Another way to go to the RO's. -
Cliff Walsh shot his 45 ACP revolver at a couple of the Ft. Benning 3-guns and did pretty good. At the local 3-guns he always did very well. But then he's a revolver GM and a past national champ if that makes any difference. Give it a try just for fun.

#35, Tac Heavy. Long sleeve T-shirt in XL. Hopefully it won't be black. I'm thinking burgundy. Or Olive Drab. What do you say? -
2014 Fallen Brethren Challenge
Mickster replied to Spartan-6's topic in Multi-Gun, Rifle & Shotgun Match Announcements
Excellent news! Not in yet but I did do the practice registration this morn and have a question. The official rules show there are two Heavy divisions, Tac Heavy Scope and Heavy Metal Limited. The option on the registration form is "Heavy". Which one of the two would it be? -
The design and layout of the range. I would have it look sort of like a wagon wheel, where the hub would be HQ, and each spoke, however many would be needed, from the hub would go out to the different shooting disciplines where we would have bays and parking. One of the spokes could be a 1000 yard bay all by itself. If I hit the big lottery, it would be something like that.

Agreed on the Atlas. But it mounts to a rail. Without drilling/modifying the stock, what's the best adapter to mount it to an FN-SPR A1 which only has the swivel stud to mount to?

The point of impact on mine would shift 20 to 30 inches at 100 yards. I was advised the fix was to epoxy glue the whole thing together forever. Not wanting to do that, I took off the illumination and put the mount in a pair of narrow Valdada 30mm steel rings I had laying around. That held up great, but I wanted the illumination back. I left the front ring on and used the regular Leupold mount and put the illumination unit back on. The problem was the Valdada ring on the front was .008 higher than the Leupy mount. Well it just so happens that the aluminum 1 pint can of Coors Light is .008 thick. Thicker by .003 than the regular cans. Made a couple of shims for the Leupy mount to raise it up, mounted it, and this setup has held on a .308 AR for over a year. Looks kind of goofy, and a professional gunsmith would frown, but it's solid and it's illuminated.

That's a nice setup. Were there function problems that caused you to go to the special buffer (I'm assuming a heavy buffer) instead of using a standard weight carbine buffer in the UBR stock?

Lot's of good info here. Thanks for the links. So I gather it's not so much that a gasser that can hold under 1moa can't be competitive, it's the "mag out, bolt back," rule that's the real bug-a-boo. Especially if you might have to do it 5 or more times in one stage. Ouch. Excellent advice to call/contact the match director before sending any money to register to find out if this rule will be in play. A 1200 yard shot off a shaky fence post is a tough shot period. No matter what you're shooting. So, I think I'm still going to set up my gasser, get a decent optic (that 6-24x50 Bushnell does look good), maybe really go all out and get a barrel in .260, practice up some and give it a try.
