  1. I've used both the 560/1 and the 5183. The only downsides I see is that the belt versions doesn't work as well with the Wilderness Instructor's belt as they do with a standard 1.5" leather belt. They are not super slick boy kydex holsters as they are lined with suede or some synthetic version. This makes for a bit of a break in period. Also, they both have a plastic roller inside as part of the retention system which (at least on the 560/1) will wear on the dust cover of a 1911 leaving a mark (at least on a blued or coated gun). If you want a fast kydex holster they may not be for you. They are made for concealment use and ride higher on the belt than the current favorite gamer rigs that normally ride at the top of the belt. If you want a fast, affordable, kydex "carry" hoster that won't wear as much as a pure kydex holster they are good choices.
  2. I think LEAST covers your 5 point zone, err -0 zone.
  3. They always said that they wanted to do away with people having to figure out how many points were on a target. Ted That's interesting. So now 2 or more -3's only will incur an FTN. I'm also curious about the dissappearance of PAR time scoring, not that many people use it but we have a new shoot house going up at the range where it's useful. I assume it's still ok to use.
  4. That's a good question and one I asked myself when reading the revised rulebook. Perhaps it's misworded here. COF might be a better choice in the first sentence. And here it's worded as such: Mark
  5. I would but Thunder Ranch cornered the market.
  6. I do! Usually two. Hear! Hear!
  7. Hahahaha Joe, you kill me. Here's some stuff for you to boycott: Choose The Blue Go wild with it baby!
  8. Bingo!!!! FYI Dave Sevigny spanked the SSP field with a G37 (.45 GAP) at the 2004 AL State match using 185gr Gold Dots (194pf). It will always come down to be more about the shooter than what caliber or platform they are shooting. I do believe that Duane is spot on!
  9. Will a .45 GAP auto loader function properly downloaded to 125-130 pf? Will a 10mm for that matter? Maybe an ECDP class will be in the future for .45 Gap and 10mm. Wouldn't bother me any. I don't even care if they let them in CDP. Too much hand wringing on the whole darn thing. Let's just shoot. Mark
  10. Good Job Matt! A rational and sensible approach to addressing your concerns. I hope it rubs off on some folks. If not? WGAF? Mark
  11. You took your revolvers and weighed them in a US Post office? That's funny! I love it.
  12. Good COF design eliminates the "dumping" problem almost entirely. I think the rule should stay. Mark
  13. I have a double 1911 mag carrier from Mike that's a few years old and it's legal under the new rules. I had lunch w/ him on Friday and he said a random check of his some were and some weren't but that any that he sends out from this point on will be legal by the new rules. All of his holsters have and continue to be legal. www.talontactical.com
  14. For one thing the IDPA holster list has been frozen for over a year. The holster changes have not been a secret by any stretch. None of the "roto" style holsters have been legal that I'm aware of even prior to the new rulebook. There's nothing stopping you from shooting from your ON DUTY rig and signing up as LE. Or using an alternate holster that fits the rules. Don't want to spend a few buck for a new holster? Don't shoot. Simple huh? What at first started to sound like an honest letter this statement negated. What's your objective with this comment? How do you turn in your membership anyway? Have a IDPA membership card burning party? Woo Hoo! What manner bests suits YOU for announcing rules changes? What I find interesting is that only 2 people of 25 at this club have holsters, and mag carriers that are legal by the new rules. The kit I've been using for 3 divisions have all been legal since I started 5 years ago and still are today. Secondly, on what do you base your comment about Bill Wilson's equipment being illegal? Funny, I saw him use a custom leather rig at the nationals shooting a Commander sized 1911. Anything but illegal. If all that matters to you is your current holster being legal I think you are just looking for a reason to b*tch. You know if you're going to fire off letters like this, it's best to at least be well versed and factual in your statements. For what it's worth IDPA announced the 4" revolver rule change a FULL 2 YEARS before it was implemented. A little research on your buddy's part might have saved him some $$. In order for criticism to be constructive, it must be based in fact. Unfortunately you both fail in this respect turning this thread one of many useless wastes of bandwidth. Don't like IDPA. Don't play the game. For some reason I guess you think you'll be missed. Perhaps, perhaps not. Obviously IDPA is not for you and who's fault is that? I guess some folks just feel the need to share.
  15. I shoot IDPA becuase its fun and best fits why I shoot guns and what I want to get out of shooting them. I'd rather spend my match and range time with friends who think the same as I do. And for the most part we all shoot IDPA. Nothing against USPSA or anything like that. I shoot that some as well but mostly IDPA. When I want training I get training. When I want to have fun I shoot matches.
  16. You found a simple solution. Feel better?
  17. I mistakenly nulled my vote so add me to #2. Like I need an excuse to buy more gun stuff? I'm already over it.

I just got a Kytac superhooper. If you use a wilderness belt there is no daylight visible. If you use a leather belt there is. I figure that leaves me in compliance.
  19. I really don't have any problems with the new rulebook. Then again I didn't have many issues with the LGB either. All of my equipment is and has always been legal. Even my "gamey" gear. I get a chuckle when people complain about spending money on gun gear. Hell, now you might actually have a legitimate reason. I do find a few things interesting in these forums. The people who claim that the majority of the membership is p*ssed off about the rules. Out of 10-12K members it seems to always be the same handful of people on the forums. Try an online petition and see how the numbers add up. Should be enlightning.
  20. What you really want is to eliminate all divisions. CDP shooters compete against CDP shooters, not SSP, ESP or SSR for all the obvious reasons. This is why there are no overall champions in IDPA. It doesn't make sense. The SSP and ESP Champs will likely do fewer reloads during a big match than the CDP or SSR champ. That, in addition to the difference in caliber and action therefore it's to be expected that their final score should be lower (assuming there's no malfunction issues etc...). The rule is in place (technically) only for Sanction matches. MD's have much more leeway for club matches. Personally I find the rationale to be sound. The Madonna/Monkey thing I remember it from the SNL spoof. If it happened in real life I missed the footage. Thankfully.
  21. It's an SO and MD training issue. Which is why I feel the first priority for HQ should be to get the SO Instructor's training syllabus in order ASAP.
  22. Huh? So, eliminate CDP, the second largest division in the sport? Monkies will fly out of Madonna's butt before that happens.
