Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. That defeats the purpose. Knowing how fast you can make your hits is an important skill, probably one of the most important in the real world. Remember that little lawyer that rides down range on every bullet, and it is after all supposed to be practical shooting. If that were a core tenet of IDPA then all stages would be Limited Vickers.
  2. I meant that in the "I couldn't possibly be more suprised about the 9th Circuit decision than finding the Statue of Liberty decaying in the ocean" sense.
  3. For the first time ever, a federal court has found that the 2nd amendment is indeed incorporated into the Constitution through the 14th amendment. Just as a little background for those of you who are not legal scholars, originally the Bill of Rights were a set of limited rights that only applied to the federal government (for example many states had official state religions). It wasn’t until after the Civil War and the passage of the 14th Amendment that some of the Bill of Rights were eventually “incorporated” into the 14th amendment and applied to states as well as the federal government. http://www.rightpundits.com/?p=3778 PDF of the actual opinon.
  4. If the carafe is solid how do you get the coffee in?? BTW, I'm one of those heathens that thinks ALL coffee tastes like burnt bark and pond water.
  5. So if that non SO peanut gallery member finds a better hit on a scoring target do you reject it as well?
  6. Considering the "tremendous" skills those CC forum members undoubtedly possess I can see why you would value their opinion on what to choose for a carry gun or how it should be equipped. I don't mean to say that any of those items you list are necessary or desirable but if I'm ever in a gunfight I would prefer equipment that enhances not hinders my potential of being the one to go home that day. I bet you could ride to work on a tricycle just to prove it can be done. I bet I could come up with some reasons that would sound valid why you should do so. I also bet you won't take me up on my wager! The above is intended mostly in humor. Please be gentle. Riding home now.
  7. Some thoughts from the Friday squad. 1. Stages were lots of fun even with out the ball. The cave and the tetherball stage in particular were interesting. 2. West Texas mud. An unususal concoction that is extremely fine and gets into everything when dry also becomes like clumping cat litter and 3 times as heavy in the presence of water. 3. Don't ever say, hint, or think "Gee, the weather isn't that bad. I think the high for the day was when we left the hotel in the morning. 4. In the nicest possible way, I hope the weather is miserable for the next two days. It is only fair!
  8. I freaking loved it but did notice several people leave before the movie finished. Most were parents with CHILDREN!! I'm talking 12-13 and younger. WTF do these people think Rated R means?
  9. Too bad that under that same stress you have to hit another wee little lever called a trigger. If I can manipulate the trigger with control every single shot, I can damn sure manupulate the slide stop once and a while.
  10. So Duane what happened?? Get your knee fixed? Have you seen Adonis in the mirror recently?
  11. I wonder what percentage of the ShootingUSA audience are "us"? Fastmover?
  12. I am coaching/mentoring a young female shooter and this is what caused this line of questioning for me. I did not intend anyone to think I was critical of female shooters of any and all skill levels. I mean no disrespect. Perhaps I should have worded my questions better but I was trying to narrow the discussion. I would expect from many of the recent responses that I am getting skewered in the ladies forum. This is obviously not what I intended also. I am extremely sorry that many consider this a topic not worth responding to. Coming from a position of ignorance, I am a man after all, I was under the misimpression that practical shooting was one of the areas that gender was not a performance issue. I am still not convinced that the sex of a shooter is a major determinate of their potential ability.
  13. Congratulations on your finish in the World Shoot. I couldn't even hold your water while you shot. I had sincerely hoped that this topic wouldn't get personal because of the potential for misinterpretation or hurt feelings. I hope you belive that I intend no slight whatsoever. To answer your question, it seems the consensus is that classifers do not represent actual match stages very well. By the way, at 70%, you shot a very solid mid B class at the World Shoot. I was not being sarcastic at all. I was suprised there were not any GM ladies. Looking at the link posted earlier I understand why a little better. Of the 4918 Open class USPSA shooters only 2.58% of them are GM's on paper. If the World Shoot this year was a classifier, in Open division only one shooter shot a Grand Master score. Thirteen shot Master class scores. Thirty one shot A class. One hundred twenty one were B class. One hundred forty one shot C class. Finally thirty shot what would have been a D class score. Interesting.
