Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. The match was great. Rick and Chip did a good job on their first major match. Weather was excellent. A good prize table with sponsor Detroit Gun Works contributing excellent prizes. I managed to snag a plaque and good prize despite old age, bad shape and stupidity. If you can get to the Brighton, MI area, I recommend shooting one of the matches.
  2. I am greatly saddened by Jeff's passing. Jeff was a great guy that I always enjoyed shooting with. A true revolver maven, we are diminished by his absence. Joe Schiros
  3. An excellent match. The weather was perfect, for me. Barb, Gary, Dave, and the rest were outstanding. This is a highly recommended match.
  4. I'll come clean. I like IDPA because there are more women participating than other shooting sports. I'm in it for the babes. IPSC and USPSA don't seem to have as good a percentage. So, if not IDPA, maybe quilting or synchronized swimming.
  5. Oh yeah, revolver clip/speedloader holder placement should remain the same as the old rules. I tried putting two behind the holster and the second ended up about the middle of my back. I'm too old for that kind of contortion. It certainly isn't something I would wear "all day."
  6. Since the range of calibers is the same, the power factor for ESR should be the same as SSP and ESP. Will IDPA buy me a prosthetic hand after I load my Ruger 9mm with major loads? No maunfacturer makes an IDPA legal 8 shot clip fed revolver. Does this not start a customized gun race? If two divisions are needed, it should just be clip fed and speedloader fed. Unless you want to add a third for single action cowboy guns. And how about cap and ball revolvers?
  7. Yeah, Bart, Momma stays home and mows the lawn?
  8. I shoot IDPA because I like shooting. I like to think I am improving my shooting skills. I sure don't do it for a $.50 ribbon or a $5 plaque. The changes to the IDPA rules and responses to them caused me to think of this. In particular, the revolver rules. I get the impression some people favor seperating the moon clip guns from the speedloader guns mainly because they think they will have a better chance of winning a valuable ribbon. Who cares? If you think someone's gun or equipment gives them a better chance to win a ribbon, does that mean you haven't done your best or enjoyed yourself? Have they not been shooting their speedloader revolvers because someone with a 625 wins the ribbon? -------------------------- Joe Schiros IDPA - A04837
  9. As a SO at these matches, I have to say it is possible that this has happened to me. When I am running a shooter, I am watching the gun for safety problems. I am assuming that the shooter is following the rules for his division. I guess I am naive. In the future, I will be looking for division gamers. I don't see the point in doing something like this. It's like cheating at solitare. For a $.35 ribbon, I wouldn't do it. For a $5 plaque, I'd steal my mother's gold tooth. Ducati is right. A hundred plus shooters is a long day. At the end, I just glad to see the last shooter and have no holes in me.
