  2. Here's a novel idea, how about SSP with no weight limit? Nah, it would never work.
  3. Switch Sports Or better yet, just get a 625 and shoot ESR right? Then you can be another sandclipping moonbagger. hehehe. Ted.
  4. Bill Wilson contradict himself/the rulebook? Say it ain't so! It just couldn't be! Sorry, just got out of class, sarcasm 101. Looking at the other side of the coin concerning the question of lightening an "overweight" gun, you bring your newly lightened Super Whiz-Bang to a match and someone says that they know that gun is over weight, but no scale to find out. Now What?
  5. nice SSR time See, I told you I suck, and this is the proof. hehehe. Have a nice day
  6. Just got the paper scoresheet in the mail. It's now official, I suck. hehehe.
  7. That's very slow for Jerry; try 2 seconds Try 12 rounds in 2.99 seconds. I've seen the video.
  8. Great, more stupidity. They shouldn't call this thing a rulebook. It's a suggestionbook. That answer makes it even more subjective than it was. Now I'm really afraid to put up money for a major I would stay over for. Getting dq'ed locally would be bad enough, what if some nitwit three states over decided his description of excessive gap differs from everyone elses? Not gonna be happy so maybe I won't bother. Ted
  9. When I run my local matches, the scenario takes a back seat to the procedure, things are generally pretty laid back. When I build a stage for a major, the scenario is at least as important as the procedure, because it's what people remember, and if they remember how much fun it was shooting bad guys in a helicopter, or how funny it was to jump out of a bathtub and shoot down a hallway while wearing a pink bathrobe, they'll jump at the chance to go to your club next year. Ted
  10. If the question is should you feel bad because you had only one of your first two shots on target, and the makeup shot was the other, the answer is no. The rules state that you must engage , not hit, shoot, etc., the target. This only means that you must shoot at it twice. If you miss, you miss. In a vickers count stage, makeups are ok, except sometimes certain re-engagements, IE not shooting a specific target from a specific area due to safety reasons. mcoliver said: "Min 2 shots on paper and steel until dropped. Means one needs to shoot the steel twice also even if you already hit it on the first one?" Nope. A comma would have helped clarify: Min 2 shots on paper, and steel until dropped. I think it's a little easier to understand this way. Sorry, hooked on phonics. Anyone got a vowel? Ted
  11. I heard one of those old bullseye pricks say, "It's a handgun, not a handsgun." No reasoning with people that close-minded. Next time, ask him if he uses a toothbrush, or a teethbrush. (unless, of course, he only has one tooth, in which case the irony would be lost on him. hehe.) Ted
  12. At least one from Connecticut. I sent the petition to everyone I know that is an IDPA member. Ted Picard
  13. Single action: The trigger performs a single function, releasing the hammer/striker. Double action: The trigger performs two functions, drawing back the hammer/striker, and releasing it. Ted
  14. Rule book says under excluded mods for ESP & CDP : "4. Slide lightening (see “slide, lightening” in glossary for further information) from the glossary: "Slide, lightening: Removal of portions of the slide to gain a competitive advantage." That's removing some of the slide metal to regulate slide speed. The book does not prohibit removing material on the frame at all. Some guys do away with light rails or add an ed brown bobtail or whatever. That's all legal. Ted Cool. I thought that if it wasn't on the list of allowable modifications, you couldn't do it. Thanks Ted. TractorTed
  15. I'm not sure you could get away with no grips, you sneaky devil you. hehe. If it were my match, I'm not sure I would allow that, but I haven't found anything in the rulebook except possibly a safety issue that would prevent it. If, however, I did allow it, I would make sure someone checked up on you at every stage to make sure you didn't put grips on somewhere down the line. (Even though I think the weight limits are second only to the daylight syndrome for holsters in stupidity.) If you needed to shave just a tiny bit, the sights may help, but if you had to shave that little, I'd let it slide without that modification. As far as the grip safety, you'll get slapped hard for that one. The rules state under "Non-IDPA-Legal Modifications for ALL Divisions" on page 17 of the latest version of the final edition of the new and "improved" rulebook: The following modifications are NOT ALLOWED IN ANY DIVISION unless otherwise specifically mentioned. ...E. Disconnection or disabling of any safety device on any gun. Ted EDIT: I just thought of something. What about polymer replacement parts like guide rods etc. ??? Hmmm.
