  1. I think it's more an issue of whiners finding a new place to whine. Odds are the IPSC folks are tired of hearing from them too.
  2. Specific COF guidelines apply to sanctioned matches. Club matches are given more latitude in COF design. Personally I always tried to run my club matches using the sanctioned match guidelines. It doesn't bother me at club matches when there's some deviations as long as it doesn't get silly or too IPSC like.
  3. Situation dictates the call. Dump one or two especially if there's a bad hit on a target is a tough FTDR call. Dump extras on several targets or the last target before a reload in a COF the FTDR is easier to call. Intentionally downloading mags will earn one immediately except for new shooters who aren't quite up to speed yet. I'll give them the PE and a rules refresher. They always seem to try that one on the Bill Drill for some reason.
  4. There's nothing technically wrong with doing that but you won't make many friends that way. This person is only cheating himself and doing it blatantly in front of other people shows a lack of character.
  5. Since it was a side match and the proceeds went to charity they let him shoot it how he would in "work". We didn't get to see his run in the shoot house unfortunately.
  6. I asked you first I think the point of having the Law Enforcement catagory is to recognize their involvement in the sport. Nothing more. Otherwise we should allow them to engage like they and military shooters do on the job which would be outside the rules of IDPA. Example: I recall shooting a sanctioned match where they had set up a side match in a shoot house. A member of our squad was SOF member who asked if he had to shoot by IDPA rules or if he was allowed to engage how he would for work.
  7. What about guys like Scott Warren? Or plain clothes officers?
  8. So out of ammo that he left the bobbled mag on the ground and had to resort to a stripper mag? Technically, I believe that would earn a procedural but if they've blown so man hits that they are into a third mag on a 18 round string I agree that it would be hard to kick them while they are already down.
  9. I wouldn't call a procedural. If he needs ammo later on in the string and pulls a third mag from a pocket then I would gig him.
  10. I hope you have a really good lawyer. You think that's an original thought? Great attitude to take to a match. I feel sorry for the SO/MD already.
  11. Mike is wrong handed too so he can personally relate; Mike doesn't have a fancy website but he makes holsters for just about everything and is easy to work with on custom stuff. Talon Tactical Also look at Comp Tac. I have some of their mag carriers and like them a lot.
  12. I sold my 560 because I didn't want to get stuck w/ it if it doesn't make the next approved holster list. Which should be interesting since it's the same holster Safariland makes for Wilson (Adjuster). Good holster but the bearing wheel took the blue off the dust cover of my Kimber. I switched to the Alessie DOJ and am much happier. I still have a 561 for my G17.
  13. Omnia, I'm glad you don't shoot around my area. My impression from reading your posts on this forum is that you don't seem very happy with anything. You appear to be one of those shooters that just shows up and doesn't contribute in any positive way. It's apparent that you've never SO'd. I wonder if you paste targets.
  14. As a MD I designed a number of stages where there were non-threats behind threats and vice versa. Why? Because that as they say, "simulates life". It's my way of forcing shooters to think, to move, to remember gun safety rule #4. If you just stand there and do not try to get a clear shot and shoot through the non threats or threats and hit the non-threats, you've earned the FTDR and all the associated penalties. This is not contradictory in the rule book. If that were so, then swingers and movers have no place in an IDPA.
  15. Omnia, Have you ever held a timer? You should try it some time. It's not as hard as you are trying to make it out. Either that or I suspect you just like to stir the pot.
  16. MP is right on. Score the hits on the threats, the HNT and add the FTDR. It's a weak COF unless the MD or SO warns the shooters about shooting the COF as you described. Even if he doesn't, the shooter earned the FTDR.
  17. I don't know about everyone else but I have pretty good perifial vision. It is possible to see more than just the gun even though that's my primary focus. In most cases the scorer is also tasked with watching the shooter's run. On limited Vickers stages or stages with manditory head shots the scorer or another SO should be tasked with watching for those hits as an example. I don't consider it a cover violation unless he was over exposed BEFORE the engagement of the first target. If he moved out slicing the pie to reach the third target and realizes he needs to make up on T1, There's no penalty IMO because he attempted to engage that target. Making up the misses or not will be penalty enough.
  18. It was done over a year ago. Given to HQ and rejected. End of story. Circulating the rejected revised version would not be constructive at this point.
  19. I like both. There are those of us that do like to take stories from the police blotter and NRA's Armed Citizen columns etc... and use them for stages. Headhunter here in GA is known for doing entire "Armed Citizen" inspired matches.
  20. That's not been my experience in the 5 states I've shot in over the last several years.
  21. LMFAO! Took the words from my mouth! Unbelievable!
  22. Neil, That's just wrong. They should have let you shoot if there was a slot open. I can't believe they would turn a guy away like that. Edited to add: While I think the MD should have let you shoot "unclassified" (not MA) or not for score. You should have made an effort to contact the MD before packing up and driving to the match. Some MD's cap the number of shooters they will permit because of logistics. You risk being turned away as a walkup if they are already at capacity. I wouldn't drive to a match w/out having been a assured of a slot ahead of time.
  23. Joe, You know I was jerking your chain. You also know that the odds of the IDPA BoD adopting the USPSA classification method are both slim and none. As a former full time MD at a club where running the classifier was all but impossible. So I always made it a point to offer to run shooters through the drill before or after the monthly matches at the outdoor club by appointment. Over the years I have never seen anyone intentionally tank the classifier. That said, there are also quite a few people I know that have been shooting IDPA for a couple of years and no matter how often I've offered to run them in the classifier they either can't make it or just don't. They also never show up at the bigger monthly matches or any sanctioned matches. If they stay UNC forever, no harm, no foul. Sandbagging exists, as someone pointed out in every sport. ThHere will always be people with such low self worth that will stoop to sandbagging no matter what system is in place and will find a way to beat the system to do it. I think once the national classification database goes gold 90% of the these problems at sanctioned matches will go away. There also will always people that come to the sport as a newbie with great skills but never shoot the classifier and will appear to be sandbaggers. I saw that recently. He was still learning the game so it was not intentional in the least. Personally I like the classifier. There will always be shooters that can shoot the classifier better than they can perform in a 10+ stage match. There are shooters that will practice the classifier over and over and over to move up. I see nothing wrong with that because 99% of those guys will also finish in big matches somewhere in the field of their classification. There are also shooters that will move up in class by winning their class in a sanctioned match but never be able to shoot an equivalent classifier score. So what? All in all the system works pretty well.
  24. Joe that system exists in USPSA. I hear they're still accepting members. I think you want the GAP in CDP so David Sevigny won't beat you guys in SSP with 194 PF ammo.
