  1. Can you load your moons without using the BMT? That will tell you a lot. TKs are great but I used RevolverSupplyCo.Com moons for practice, they are thinner and load very easily. I used TK or Hearthco for matches. Get a bunch, nothing is worse than having someone step on a moon. It's good to have enough moons to get your through a match and a few extra.
  2. Looke like a great match. Stage setups are very nice and it looks like a clean match. YSRRACER thanks for taking time to show all the videos. Looks like Phoenix Rod & Gun Club really has their act together.
  3. Thanks for the videos. I was going to make it down there today to say hello to everyone but company from out of town showed up at the door this morning. Also, it's COLD. Maybe next time.
  4. Scotch. Glenfiddich. Nothing like a single malt.
  5. Smooth is better than light any day of the week. Take some measurements, borrow a scale so that you know what's really happening, test hammer fall and DA trigger pull. I've had guns that I could shoot at 4.5 pounds DA with no trouble but when I sold them the next guys had to raise the pull to over 6.5 pounds. It's a matter of what you get use to. At this point you are running in circles. Best to either send it back to the mothership or to TK Customer Suport. They will help you better. You may want to add their custom hammer kit.
  6. TK does excellent work and I'm glad he got your gun working correctly. Now Leave It Alone. I'd rather have a smooth 7 pound DA pull that works then try to get a lower weight that you have to use only Federal Primers to get them to go off properly. I've gone the route of the light action, had my guns down to the 4.5 pound range and worked well but had to use Federals and had to seat the primers deep. When I sold the gun the next owner couldn't get it to work at that weight and had to go to 6.5 pounds. It takes thousands and thousands of rounds to use the lower trigger pulls. I'm not saying give it up, just saying be prepared.
  7. This proves my motto. Obviously I know nothing but I try.
  8. I'm saying lighten the strain screw a quarter of a turn until you get reliable hammer follow. The springs aren't ballanced out at full tension. Give it a try, what can you loose?
  9. Sounds to me like the springs aren't balanced properly. Try adjusting your strain screw and find where it will work 100% of the time.
  10. C-More Railway with Allchin mount. He makes a lot of different mounts so give him a call.
  11. Kirby Goodman shoots a 10 shot .32 Mag in ICORE that he made. He has done very well with it. Good luck in your endeavors.
  12. This week I had the opportunity to compare the Apex Tactical Mass Drive Hammer and the RevUpAction Hammer Kit for the K/L Frame Smith and Wesson in my 617s. The RevUp hammer is on the right and the Apex one is on the left. The Apex Mass Drive is advertised to be able to give you a 6.5 pound Double Action (DA) trigger pull in your 617. It works with some ammo but to get everything to ignite mine is set at 9 pounds which is still a big improvement over the stock factory trigger pull which can run between 12 and 14 pounds. Hammer fall needs to be about 45 ounces to fire CCI Mini Mags in my gun. The kit costs $150 and comes with the hammer, firing pin and three springs so you can get the correct return on your trigger. It is a true drop in kit with no gunsmithing required. I use the light recoil spring which I believe is 11 pounds and get reliable trigger return in my well broken in 6 inch 617. It's a big advantage compared to the stock trigger pull. In my opinion it's well worth the investment. I was lucky enough to get the first hammer available to the public. The advantage of this heavier hammer is that it will ignite a variety of ammo brands and gives a super light DA pull. I've been using it with success for a couple of years now. I received my RevUP Action Hammer Kit two weeks ago and installed it in no time. Truly a drop in kit so you don't have to send your gun to a gunsmith which will save you at least the shipping which is now about $100 as well as the cost of the trigger job. The kit comes with the hammer, firing pin with spring as well as an 11, 12 and 13 pound rebound spring. I installed it in a new 4 inch 617 that had not tuning done to it. I had to use the 12 pound rebound spring to insure complete return on the trigger. The price of the RevUp Kit is s$250 now but will be going up in the future so buy it now. I have the K/L frame kit and they also make one for the N frame revolvers. I set the hammer fall at 45 ounces, just like in my 6 inch gun so that I can shoot Mini Mags and a wide varity of ammo. I can get away with a lighter pull if I use Remington Bucket Of Bullets. DA pull is 9.9 pounds averaged on my Lyman Digital Scale. With the RevUp Hammer accuracy is very good and my times for Steel Challenge are improving. The new hammer kit gives me a much smoother trigger pull and makes my sight stay on target better throughout the pull. The gun is very comfortable to shoot . With Remington Golden Bullets I can get away with 40 ounces of hammer fall and my DA pull is around 8.5 pounds. I keep it at 9.9 pounds for the Mini Mags so I can reliably pick up any ammo in the garage and know it will go bang. Both kits are vast improvements and are worth the investment. Which is better will be up to the shooter. If you like the standard style trigger pull but want it to be lighter than what comes from the factory the Apex kit will fit your needs. If you want a really different experience with a light, smooth DA pull give the RevUp kit a chance. It's well worth the investment.
  13. I've been running my 617 with a C-More for years at out clubs Steel Challenge matches in RFPI and occasionally beat some of the bottom feeders. I no longer shoot well enough to win but I"m having a blast just shooting the revo against everyone. You shoot what you bring and do your best. Can't ask for better than that. Shooting a 617 you have to add DS-10 Speedloaders.
  14. I can put all my rounds from the match in the raisin bag as well as my 5 speed loaders and still have lots of room. I got my bag from RevolverSupplyCo.com.
  15. I dump into a raisin bag on my belt. When I get home I segregate live from spent rounds into two boxes. I also bought a shotgun pouch to try. It will hold the DS-10 speed loaders separate from the brass.
  16. It's like Gargoil66 states. Hard to describe, it's a totally different trigger pull but I sure do like it. I still need to do some live fire testing with different ammo types but it likes my favorite, Remington Bucket Of Bullets just fine. I increased the DA pull to an average of 9.9 pounds and it still feels great. I'm doing a lot of dry firing to get use to it.
  17. I received my RevUpHammer kit on Monday and was able to install it in a matter of minutes. It's that easy to do. I put it in my new 4 inch 617. This gun is basically stock. My DA pull iwas set 9 pounds 7 ounces to get 100 % reliability with my favorite .22 ammo and requires 52 ounces of hammer fall to set off my ammo. With an 11 pound rebound spring I have had no problems with the trigger resetting with stock parts. With the RevUp kit I had to put the 12 pound rebound spring in. I was getting too many failures to reset at 11 pounds. Measuring the SA pull it's just over 4 pounds on average with the 12 pound spring. I found that I can get away with 46 ounces of hammer fall for 100% reliability using Remington Bucket Of Bullets. It even sets off my CCI Clean ammo with no problems. The DA pull ends up being 9 pounds 2 ounces, so, not much difference on paper but a major difference in the feel of the gun. I can pull through the trigger much better than my 7 pound DA pull on my 6 inch gun. The sights hardly move throughout the pull and my accuracy is much better. I'll do more tests and comparisons of the two guns but I'm very happy with the RevUp kit.
  18. With a dot I seriously doubt that you will see any difference in accuracy. I use a 12 on both my 4 and 6 inch 617s and shoot the same with either.
  19. Looks good. Hope you have a lot of fun with it. How's the trigger pull?
  20. For the handgun / 22/ you do not have to engage the safety. I do after each run but it is not necessary, I just do it out of habit. I don't think it takes any time to disengage it.
  21. Doesn't come small enough for .22s.
  22. Never got it out and it's holding up well. Must be in far enough so I'm going to leave it until it falls out.
  23. Why not allow optics? Many times my scores were better with iron sights exept on Far And Near Standards.
