  1. How about a check list of requirement/specifications for legal guns. Ones that are measurable (NOT subjective), that way the RO's know what is legal by checking the list. Makes a lot more sense to me than approved models AND it allows new players to introduce new product. If a manufacture wants to make a better product, why discourage that, doing so is just ignorant. Do we want to be a 1990's SASS (semi auto shooting society) as far as gear? It seems some of our rules favor that mentality. It seems to work for limited and open. I do think we should remove the quantity sold to incourage inovation and not just protect the players in the game. Those who can win know the limitation of performance today is NOT determined by the gear, it is the ablility of the operator. in 2006 we have tons of good product to chose from. The arms race argument is just an excuse for those who don't know any better and want to keep their head in the sand. ps. I've been shooting a basic 4" XD (trigger job and fixed Dawson, sights totally PD legal) a lot lately and I can't shoot any of my 3K limited guns faster (or even measurably more acurately.)
  2. I'll donte toward the airfare of BE to the Phillipines...
  3. LOL We had guy who got a Para LDA and he went throught the exact same thing, all 4 of his mag broke almost in a row last summer. I guess it is a small world
  4. Just another thought, 135-145 isn't a bad range for production. It sure take the steel down better than 125 and still is dang soft. You get a bit more distinction between shots too which (for me) hold my focus better than mouse fart loads, and you never have to worry about the chrono.
  5. Some people don't get it. I do sights and triggers on the XD about every day, and MOST of them aren't for IPSC shooters. People want better stuff and now it is readily available they whine about it being too good. Go figure. The picture of TGO at the nats sure doesn't look like burried Bomars either.
  6. And you don't want to get into a pushing match with Lawman, cause you would most likely lose. It is a big advantage for those who shoot the second start time. The morning folks get a very short stick with no walk through opportunity.
  7. I think not. Hard to see how far off you are when special "favors" are made.
  8. The only good thing is that companies are making better guns now IMO. I think the IPSC governing body should be ashamed of it's behavior from reading that. If the SP01 is legal, go figure, especially after the ruling at the WS about Adam's "special" gun, which apparently was made specifically for Production. 2000 made like that, I think not. Just a sad example of discrimination. Build a good gun and it meets the criteria of the Division and they will not allow it, that is bull. Production is messed up because it doesn't account for progress and companies making better guns for the folks who want them.
  9. Mythbusters did this one, check it out if you like Erik's brother
  10. The newer 9mm hold 16 with the 40 cal follower.\ About mid summer they all changed over I have 15- 16 rounders that fit 17 9mm, no need to change the follower. If you are using the 15 rounders you will have to cut out the dimple to get more in.
  11. Throating helps keep it from binding, so does proper extractor tension, proper bullet length and a correctly polished ramp. Get it all right and it is smooth and reliable.
  12. I have 4 Barsto on order, but I was under the impression they would add 4. I will verify on Monday, but it looks like RA will get my business with them for $16 each. I should have a demo on Tuesday or so.
  13. I know how to make a SS .40 work and I already fixed that, replaced the trigger components with EGW, reamed the chamber, tuned everything else and it is very sweet now. I was just wondering if my expectations were too high or if there were others out there noticing the same things or if I got a lemon. The trigger was un-usable IMO, the gun didn't feed ammo from the factory mags unless you only loaded 3 round with several different types of ammo and bullet profiles, and then it was iffy to get them all to feed, and not at all with the Tripp mags.
  14. I got a Trojan for a customer and we were quite disappointed. The trigger rattled and was so poorly adjsted you had to pull VERY hard to drop the hammer. The thing wouldn't feed ANY ammo. I spent a couple hours making it right, but for the $1200 he spent you would think you would get a functional gun. Is this a "built on a Friday" thing or has anyone else experienced this? I would rather build up something right than go in and fix up someone elses product. It is quite nice now, but for the $ he has into it now, I could have made him a nicer Caspian.
  15. Then you will probably hit the slide release. Sorry I couldn't be helpful.
  16. Your left hand is way too low, and your wrist is not locked forward. You are getting a fraction of the strength that you would that you can get with a good grip. See here. Paralell with the bottom of the slide, locked forward.
  17. The frame sizes are different. One might fit you better.
  18. I think it is a good idea for the smaller clubs. We generally do a combined score because it is what our customers want, and no, the open guys don't always win and no one complains about it either. It never hurts to ask what people want.
  19. You might try getting a higher grip with you left hand then. I've seen lots of people have the thumb over thumb too low on the gun. There is no way to hit the release if your left thumb is as high as the bottom of the slide because your left thumb is in the way.
  20. L2S, That can be tweaked a bit with technique. Of course, you gotta get on the mag release ASAP after calling the last shot, and I figure you are all over that. What is a bit different with the Glock, and something that shooters coming from other platforms aren't used to worrying about, is that you gotta to really get the gun into an orientation that lets that spent mag fall straight down...keeping it from adding friction by rubbing on the gun while coming out at an angle. Also, it's easy to get the mag wells cranked down too much on the glocks. They can torque the works...and cause the mags to hang a bit. Thanks, you are spot on. I had to file out the mag well and am working on keeping it upright a tad more than normal.
  21. Methink yes. I think they are horrible. But then again I think a good sight picture is important. The hardest thing about trying to shoot A's with the stock sights is how fat the front sight is. You can swap out the FS with a Dawson that work ok for cheap, or just get the fixed set and have a nice set of sights that will take you as far as you want.
