Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. i chamber checked each round in my lone wolf barrel. I use 1.120 to 1.130 as an OAL for my 147's, with an average of about 1.125ish. And they have fed my Glock very successfuly. So when i loaded these test rounds, i used 1.125 as a starting point. I also loaded about 5 rounds at about 1.21 to 1.122 an noticed that the bullet was getting scratch marks on it when chambering from the magazine, like they were a little short an were not feeding smoothly up the feed ramp. So i went back to 1.125. I just dont know whats good for OAL as far as pressures go.
  2. Been using WST for Precision Bullets 147's very successfuly. I would like some starting Data on using WST for Bear Creek 125's ?? I could use a starting point on grains, an an OAL...........based on some information i got, an some information from my 147's, I loaded up some BC's 125 at 3.4 to 4.4 going up in .2 increments with an average OAL of 1.125,,,,,,,,,,,would you consider this a good starting point?? Also, i am using a Glock 34, with a Lone Wolf Barrel and 12# spring.
  3. yeah, that was me, how did you do in the match, and have you seen the DVD that was made?,,,,,,They did an outstanding job on the DVD of the match.
  4. I'm there, and tryin to get this new P228 broke in, in time. Having some problems with it, hope it just needs some breakin in.
  5. Well, i gotta say,,,,,, when i bought my Sig 226st, there was not a weight restriction on SSP. I sure as hell never heard about an up and coming rule change regarding adding a weight limit on SSP, or other wise i would have looked at other options. I bought the 226st, not because of the heavier weight, but #1 i have shot a 226 for about 20 yrs, and i wanted a new one. And #2, i thought, with the all stainless gun, i would have a beater that would last, not only my lifetime, but my sons when i hand the guns down to him. It totally had nothing to do with the weight, as a matter of fact, after i've used it, i dont really care for the heavier weight, which is why i just purchased a new P228. It's just at the time, i wasnt sure i could afford another gun purchase and i thought i would be stuck shooting my ST in ESP. I prefer shooting SSP, thats just me.
  6. Is it possible to use the thumbs forward grip on a Sig?,,I tried it this past weekend in an idpa match, and it didnt work to well for me. I could feel my thumb riding on the slide release and the other thumb didnt feel like it was in a good position either as i could feel a burning from the hot slide.
  7. I was wearing Dickie work pants when i was doing this drill and noticed, it was faster stowing the mag in the front pocket of the Dickie's than trying to find the pocket on my vest, and my vest has a nice large lower pocket, but i kept getting hung up on the opening. I usually wear some type of cargo pant when shooting a match, i'll have to work on that next time.
  8. I've been using matt burketts dry fire practicing program, and with the time set at 8 seconds. I draw from the beep, dry fire 2 shots, reload with retention and fire 1 more shot. Doing this drill, what would be considered a good time? You get a beep to start, and one more beep at 8 seconds. This time can be adjusted, higher or lower. 8 seconds was a place to start for me, as i've never really practiced reload with retention. Kinda cool once you get the hang of it.
  9. Yes, with the new rule changes in idpa, my Sig P226ST is too heavy for SSP Division, and thats the Division i like to shoot in.
  10. Well, i bought a new Sig P226ST for idpa, then the day after i picked it up, Wilson changed the rules on me, now its not legal for SSP (thanks Bill), so i just picked up a NIB P228 for the Calif state Championships, i hope i have time to break it in.
  11. [ I use a Conceal Carry Outfitters vest, its a traditional vest with pockets on the inside for mags, lights, CCW ID. The outside pockets are traditional pockets, this vest looks like everyday casual wear.
  12. I currently have an XD40, and would like to purchase a complete top end to change to 9mm. I dont want to do the Barsto barrel conversion. Where can i purchase a new top end for the XD, and what kind of price am i looking at?
  13. hello, i am new to this 3-gun thing, i will be shooting one next month for the first time, i have a colt sporter, and live in calif, what options do i now have as far as magazines go, and what reliable brand should i look for?, will all these stupid laws in cali, i'm not sure anymore, i do have 2 20rounders, and 2 thirty rounders, but the 30's arent very reliable as i remember,,,, thanks ,,,gunfighter
  14. i have a question,,,, do all idpa matches cover their targets with a T-shirt?,,,,so you cant see the different rings, or is that just something my peticular club does?
  15. i just bought a springfield armory CHAMPION 1911, it has a 4" barrel, but a full size frame, i bought two WILSON COMBAT 8 rnd mags for it, can i be competetive shooting this gun, and what class will i have to shoot in, and by the way, its chambered for .45 ACP
