  1. Production is 10 rounds only so it is not a factor in Production. Arrendondo make +3 base pads so you can get 16 in the mags now. You can make the XD's real nice. Trigger, mag release, sights, mag well, solid steel guide rod, Barsto barrel ect.

    TEXAS STAR

From the draw? How far? We did it awhile back at 10 yards and the good times were in the low to mid 2's with a 4" 9mm XD.
  3. Because they need all they can to put in guns at the factory
  4. Lee, As long as no tranfer is taking place, you can ship it to an FFL and they can ship it directly back to you. This link has all you need to know. http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/index.htm
  5. A LOT of people feel the way you do... FWIW I've shipping over a hundred guns to people after working on them in the last 6 months and the've all made it back just fine.
  6. I have no idea how many people actually shot it that way, 3 was the number floating around from the folks I heard talking about it...
  7. Punished how? Very few people shot the match, so finding the people wouldn't be hard, from what I heard it sound like everyone knew who ran around the tunnel. It is obvious, if you don't have to run through the tunnel that was designed to create a challenge, you are way better off. I just hate having stages tossed after driving 2 days to a match, that takes away 10% of the fun (one stage) so I am biased Pretty much everyone will shoot it the way Matt did if they allow it I would think. I would because I would be at a disadvantage if I didn't.
  8. They were taking odds on whether the stage would be tossed or not when I was there tonight. The thinking I heard was to have the 3 guys that shot it the way you did reshoot it or just toss the stage. Which do YOU think more sense?
  9. Wouldn't it just be easier to educate them that that line is completely false?
  10. Production is already that way, the average Joe doesn't even know the rules (or that his gun isn't competetive- which is not true anyway) and few people don't come back because their gun isn't "trick" enough IMO. The cost of tricking a gun is nothing compared to the cost of feeding it. Joe Average shooter WANTS to trick his gun out in most cases. I do guns everyday that have things done that don't "need" to be done, but people WANT it done (I tell people this too, but they still go ahead and get them done.) I would think if you take a poll of new shooters, they would want to be shooting tricked out guns to some extent, with the exception of a vocal hard core, "don't touch anything, the factory made it perfect" crowd. Guns and cars are simliar in that way, there is a cool factor to have your gun "customized." Are matches won due to burried Bomars or a trick trigger? No. But when you invest as much time and $ in the sport, you get to the point where you want things just so. Production isn't broke, the mods (even burried Bomars) are reasonable for the average Joe IMO. The playing field is pretty even are far as the gear goes, because a lot of the mods peple whine about don't even matter, and Dave S is a perfect example for those who are doubters. Could it be marketed differently, well that is another discussion.
  11. I spent a few hours today with John Nosler (the founder of Nosler Bullets for those who don't recognize the name) and his lovely wife. His wife was very kind and proud of her husband, rattling off his inventions and successes. There was a certain look of happiness/sadness of a proud wife looking at a man she truely loves when she was taking about him. He had some neat stories about guns and shooting was truely excited to meet a fellow shooter. It made me think about what is important as I was cranking out rounds on my press tonight. You see, he was talking about the 20's and 30's in stories and you could see the genius in his eyes and a body that was struggling to get out the thoughts. He is still pursing the ideas of a better bullets and rifles even though is is many years retired. Living in Bend and working in a high end business, I've met a lot of rich and famous people: professional atheletes, actors, movie "people", inventors, and various other "successfull" people, and few have ever left me with the impression I got from this couple. It was just a neat day, and it made me think.
  12. I would build Caspian guns if I could get good mags. I have one but hate the mag options. I have even resorted to trying to get some smuggled in like Travis has.
  13. They are junk? Is that why they are used by most of the top competitors? There is a reason they are used so much. Lots of good stuff out there though. If you do IDPA also BladeTech is worth looking at. OEM mags are the best, minimum I would suggest is 6 maximum, as many as you want to afford. 5 on the belt, one in the gun, better safe than sorry.
  14. Ysued, so come on man, how do you really feel I'm all for clarity, and I'm sure whatever happens I'l have a few guns for each division I guess all of Rich and my XD triggers would be verbotten since the total travel is less than that (by half) Oh, well most of the ones I do aren't for competitors, but LEO and regular folks. Clarity and stability = good
  15. I loved the Ali D stuff, cant wait to see this one. Ali G with Andy Rooney is a classic
  16. What about XD's? Probably one of the fastest selling new guns. They are even being adopted by PD's all over the country... The thing I struggle with is that since you can get triggers on Glocks that are as good as single action triggers and we all know they won't kick Glocks out of production, why keep single actions (or XD's - which I doubt they will do as long as TGO is using one) out? It seems that DA are on the way out and striker fire is the future, so, what do you do? Sometimes we create more problems than we solve with rules IMO. ps. CZ and Sig are pretty dang sweet and SA after the first pull when done right. Hmmm.
  17. Why? Don't we want "better" guns to be available to the general public?
  18. I'm glad to have Bruce as my Area Director because I know he is a very smart and reasonable guy (those things aren't that common.) He loves shooting and the people that participate in USPSA. I've shot with him a few times over the years and if you don't think you can't trust a guy like Bruce to say it like it is and stick up for the "folks," you better get some meds, tinfoil, and start looking for the little black helicopters...
  19. Sight black is easy and you get wipe it off it you want to go back to FO.
