  1. Sweet rifle! I love when you guys post this stuff. Let us know how it runs.
  2. I had a friend who put up classifier type stages for a few months as his contribution to the war effort. (Those willing to design/set-up/tear-down a stage) Only those shooters who practiced much really did well on his stages. Simple stages that are straight-forward and concentrate on accuracy at distance, or weak-hand shooting will weed out many who spray and pray rather than shoot all alphas. it is cool to see revo shooters who really shine and place well in the classifier often it is shooting for points and smooth technique that will result in better placing. If you make shooting As your thing, don't rush the speed you will shoot well. I bet if you really think about it you felt more rushed thinking about that score going to Sedro.
  3. Wow! Just found out. I liked his ability to play a tough guy with such depth. You could actually like a character with little redeeming qualities. Takes talent to pull it off week after week.
  4. Lots of movement drills can be achieved in dry fire too. Reloads in motion, into and out of position, aiming while moving, going prone, shooting around barricades, I can go on and on but most movement can be practiced at home without bullets at all.
  5. The one in your shoe that keeps you just distracted enough for your judging mind to stay busy so that your reactive subconscious mind can prevail, and your trained intuitive mind will come naturally to the fore.
  6. My limited setup has a Barsto barrel that is fitted a good bit tighter than the Glock barrels. Not only does this seem to give a bit better accuracy (but really not enough to tell) but it also helps with getting a nice trigger pull. Others have tried to duplicate what I have, including me on a stock 35, but I think that tight lockup is the extra part to a great trigger pull. While happy with what I have, it is things like this that I hear once in a while that make me want to try a BarSto in one of my Glocks. I mean, it definitely can't HURT anything
  7. Steve, I recently went all glock over the past three years. I've shot Bear Creek 180s, BBI 180s, and am going to try Bayous next for 9mm. I have shot Bear Creek 125s, and BBI 130s in 9mm. Literally thousands in .40 and 9mm. All stock barrels. I check my barrels after every load change and after every batch. I also clean my barrels after every 500 to 1000 rounds. There is usually some moly residue, but not much. I run Solo 1000 as my powder. Seems to run the gun well. I think when you push any lead based bullet too hard you will bet issues. Also if you crimp too much, the coating on the bullet gets marred and this will lead to issues. Careful loading procedures like slightly extra belling, consistent resizing, and minimal but effective crimp can make shooting moly easy. I like the accuracy I get with that combo so far. Now if you talk to Mark CO I think he runs aftermarket barrels for improved accuracy. I hear you can get really good accuracy from the glock platform this way as opposed to just acceptable. JZ
  8. 34! 17! 34! 17! Jeeze I don't think I would be able to sleep!
  9. When I first started practicing live fire on my own, the plate rack was my friend. I didn't have a plethora of USPSA targets I now have. In practiced primarily on plates and plates only. I have never had a steel phobia since. Steel is just another target.
  10. This is actually something you can work on in dryfire in your house or garage. Put on your gear, push-up reps, and then practice. There is a good wayI was taught to bring down your heart rate. You exhale completely, and inhale completely, but controlled trying to slow down your respiration. Exhale completely again, a bit slower, and inhale completely as slow as possible. Hold for a half dozen heart beats, and exhale as slow as possible. I used to be able to go from 120 to 55 within a minute. You get to where you can do this as you take a position. Then you ride the exhalations and squeeze, timing between pulses, not rushing, just shooting. As you get used to a routine to slow yourself down, and remember to breath well during your stage, you should feel more relaxed as you shoot. You will actually be shooting before you are slow down, but a routine will give you a basis to slow down for accuracy. You will eventually find your technique and experience will gel more and you will think less of these type of things.
  11. You are holding your breath on your shots with the rifle at range. If not actually holding, then almost. Listen to yourself. This needs to be a controlled exhalation, but do not impede the exhalation too much as you squeeze the trigger and watch your reticle. If you do, you will notice a more pronounced pulse surge in your body. Just exhale and ride the exhale as you squeeze. This works well for me when I am going from a run, to rest with a scope. Running down dogs in the dunes, I asked a guy I knew who had a great deal of experience with this type of stop and go shooting. This really helped me conserve ammo as a kid. Looks like just about the coolest shoot ever there. Wow!
  12. Healing from the other side guys! Jade, the ice bag was my best friend for 48 hours. The heat pad and I are in love now. When I am healed I will have so much shooting to do!
  13. Sarge, That just about made me tear up! Jeeze Louise man! Yeeeoowee! I got serious goose pimples reading that. I now continue my week cringing intermittently every time I remember this post. Whoah......... JZ
  14. Do your exercises and do not rush your recovery. Remember to listen about ice and heat and anti-inflammatories. Should do you well. Listen to your body, it will tell you what it needs.
  15. This thread like the other is absolutely awesome!!!! Man your talents are true!
  16. Or you could be in a business where it is never steady anymore, but nothing better is yet available. Happy Birthday, and when you do get your day off, enjoy it a little more! Or at least try. Like this little guy.
  17. As a fanatic lover of the outdoor cooking and anything that cooks low and slow, I feel your pain!
  18. I have this problem with the CZ TS. I had to put in a new spring and adjust my grip a bit. One of the reasons I shoot Glocks now. I think someone needs to offer springs with just a bit more umph for this application. Maybe a lower profile safety is in order? That is why they have em
  19. This needs to be incorporated into one of the big matches. This guy needs to be contacted as this is just awesome! I was showing my junior and she was pretty enthusiastic about it.
  20. Living here, I have never even brought the mags for guns purchased here into my state. I have preferred to sell them to others who can use them and just load up on the 10 rounders. Having said that, I was curious what makes them 10 rounders? I have no use to alter them or anything. Just wanted to know as I have no mags to compare them to should I choose to take them apart and compare with a 17 rounder. Thanks JZ
  21. Great pics Pat! The local critters like that in our mountains are almost never seen now. In my 44 years I have seen two, and I am suspicious it was the same fox. Thanks JZ
  22. If anyone takes you up on this, please post your findings and keep us informed.
  23. From people I know who have used these bullets, there seems to be some with issues, and some without. You will not usually see this from their experiences if you crimp minimally and not try and push them hard. I am wondering though what do you think is the key to your success with these bullets.
  24. If the range officer is paying attention to the shooter and keeping a safe distance, wouldn't it just be obvious that you were purposely run into. I mean now that I have been really thinking about this thread and all the times I have run a shooter on stages from classifiers to field courses, I have yet to have any contact with the shooter either accidental or purposely. I maintain proper space and if I was run into while running a shooter they would probably have to run me down to make contact.
