  1. Jim, The AR does handle well. She's light and fast. Hopefully, I'm fast enough to keep up. The two purple ones are just grip changes. I've been shooting both for a few years now. The open gun since 2002 and the limited gun since 2005. Liota
  2. Guys, Here are the newly purpled STIs and the pink AR from Cavalry Arms. Thanks to Alex for the super cool birthday and Christmas gifts!!! The new purple grips on my open and limited guns... And.... The Pink Birthday AR from Cavalry Arms built up by Alex!!! Liota
  3. Did anyone notice that the lady who sponsored the bill also heads one of the organizations that will benefit from the tax? Just asking. This one's flaky. Gentleman Jim, Is "nose" what you guys are calling those things now??? Liota
  4. Do what the guys have said, but don't worry. It won't last long. She will want her own gun and gear...or just take yours. Liota

    Whoa!

Guys, I just saw the following picture on the Drudge Report... and it reminded me of... Hocus Pocus is a very cute movie, but I nearly spewed coffee on the monitor with this one, luckily Alex was sleeping... L
  6. Just to add another one... I personally witnessed this one "up close and personal-like." I was ROing a CHL class a couple of months back. One of the students was shooting a 9mm Glock using Winchester white box non-bulk pack. During one of the strings of fire, he stopped shooting and looked around. The gun remained pointed down-range. He looked back at me and said, "ouch!" I looked over and he was bleeding. He was concerned that someone else's gun had malfunctioned and lost parts. We called the line cold and tried to figure out what happened. One look at his box of ammunition revealed that a good chunk of the box was missing and one very neat round dent in the bench under the box. He came out of it with a very neat imprint of the headstamp, complete with "Winchester," and a small cut on the other arm. No other injuries. Range now has new policy stating boxes of ammunition will remain closed during courses of fire for CHL qualification. Liota
  7. Wakal and I saw it today on an IMAX screen in 3D. The 3D effect was pretty cool. I kind of wish Howleyweird would have left the story alone. It's a pretty riveting tale on its own. Of course, the knowing look from Hrathgar to Beowulf followed by a smirk and "we both know she's not a hag" was pretty cool. Liota
  8. Partition Commander gets my vote. It was simple and quick. Liota
  9. Z Hunter summed it up for me. Egg Nog = Doesn't that stuff qualify as some kind of toxic waste??? Liota
  10. SA Friday, Sorry to hear about your co-workers. Yours is probably an even more tight-knit community than ours. Been sending a whole passle of our own Airmen out there to help you guys. We'll have your backs as much as we can. L
  11. I went to Arkansas to visit my folks a few years back. I was curious about the gun laws. Went down to the local PD and asked the question. The old cop looked at me, said "Where ya from?" I said, "Texas." "Laws'r 'bout the same, reckon. Take it easy." and ambled off to take care of something else. Had no problems. L
  12. Shoot it until it cracks (hasn't happened to me yet with forty ), it gets lost , or a friend spits tobacco juice on it . L

Well, I guess we all know what gets done while Merlin's over at Benny's shop. Meanwhile, back at Tightloop Manor, the TMI Fairy is visiting... Good one, Merlin! Liota

Where's the puking emoticon when you need it???? Shame on you, Merlin! You shouldn't bring up truth when it's icky. L

Speaking of CSI type of stuff. Apparently, the courts in Florida have a sample of Anna Nicole Smith so they can determine who the father of her kid is. Jeesh! Liota
  16. TJ, Thanks for a fun match! It was my first at Tiger Valley. Brett, Thanks for being a good Squad Mommy and putting up with us. Merlin, It was great to finally meet you in person. Kurt, Trapr, Lonnie and everyone else I haven't seen in awhile, It was great to see you guys again! Many thanks to Fred and Bill for loaning me all the stuff I failed to bring with me. Liota
  17. Merlin, This one's easy for you. Wander over to Benny in the shop one day and ask him. Of course, the cost for the advice might be coffee or beer for the next month. Liota Hey...I do know what I like... Just want to know what everyone else likes...
  18. I lived in Lompoc, CA, (about an hour north of Santa Barbara) about 15 years ago. Woke up one night, my furniture was rocking and the ground was rumbling. Found out the next day it was a Titan IV launch. Fast forward about 9 months. Woke up in a water bed with the bed rolling under me. Though? "%&@$! missile launches in the middle of the night!" The news reported the earthquake the next day. Carina, the guy in your cartoon could have been from Japan. After awile, if the furniture isn't jumping to it's demise and walls aren't cracking, it just doesn't impress. Liota
  19. I used to complain about temps below 40. Even 45 was on the cold side. When I got to Korea last year, I found that 20 degrees was fairly nice and 32 was a smidge on the warm side. T-shirts! Woohoo! This year? The temp hasn't stayed cold enough long enough to cause me to get used to freezing weather. It's kept sneaking back up into the 40s. Supposed to be about 45 on Tuesday. Monday's low is predicted to be 19F. What happened to winter in Korea??? Liota
  20. +1 for Jim's right-side mag release. He let me borrow one to try in 2005. I now have one in both limited and open pistols. They're great for those of us stubby of thumb. They're also easy to install. Liota
  21. It's a good suggestion. I'll keep it in mind if I decide to c...c...cook a bit of sheep carcass. I'm keeping plenty warm. Ironically, it isn't even all that cold outside. It's been in the mid 40's for the last couple of days and is forecasted to be that way for the remainder of the week. A little wierd for Korea this time of year. Somehow, I will survive it. Happy New Year to you, too! Liota
  22. Merlin, as always, you're quite welcome for the laugh. I have to admit that at first I wasn't laughing, but the absurdity took over and well... Yes, we're always willing to do our parts to make our fellow shooters' lives easier by reloading for a good cause...dinner. Dale, yes, sheep have the right to be tasty, but do you know how to prepare them so they are so? Happy New Year, Everyone! L
  23. When did this happen? Apparently, being a tennis player makes you an expert on "rights." When did real, honest-to-God, four-legged, woolly sheep get rights?
