  1. Because then it wouldn't be a short course, it would require at least 2 more shooting positions. Yes but this is Nats. Why do we need short courses? Im not saying add another position but just add a target or too somewhere in the same position.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Because they are fun and challenging. And the Nationals should showcase good short, medium, new classifiers, and standards courses, not just be 30 field courses.

  3. That is your opinion, I like short courses as you can do much harder technical shots and make them count on short courses. Personally I like matches that challenge me as a shooter, not just see how fast I can blow ammo down range. In this case location may have something to do with it, the vast majority of people will have to fly in to the match. If the match was more centrally located (surrounded by other states) then more people would be able to drive there. This is the first back to back Nationals that I won't be covering since 2009, I just cannot justify spending that amount of money (especially when I don't get to shoot either). Area 6 is one of the busiest USPSA areas. So there are plenty of shooters within driving distance. OTOH this isn't a weekend match, which IMO likely hurts attendance. The Monster Match is almost always includes at least 3 or more IPSC Nationals stages that were redressed by adding more targets and a Halloween theme. This year it will probably be from the the USPSA Nationals.
  4. You do realize that Frank, Shannon, Manny, and the crew at USA probably run more major matches a year than any other club in USPSA? And it is widely considered that the recent IPSC World Shoot in the US was one of the best run in recent memory
  5. Only the first couple of the IPSC stages look really similar to the USPSA stages. The rest have elements that are that are the same. But on paper they look different from each other.
  6. Oh for those considering Aimpoint, they are working on a 9 MOA dot H-2.
  7. Practice your 35 yards partials. I have it on good authority that Stage 17 Eight Ball of the IPSC Nationals will be in the USPSA Nationals.
  8. I have a similar mount, but it is made by Millennium Custom Guns. It doesn't block the ejection port as noted. And it mounts really low to the slide.
  9. Oh I should mention, this was my first time shooting with a squad RO. And I think it made things easier, there was no "Are you Matt?" he had the score sheets in order, and basically made the match very streamlined.
  10. They are on the USA facebook, 18 stages 300 rounds. $250 is the match fee according to matchsignup.
  11. Who sells them? None of the shops I normally visit list them for sale.
  12. Uspsa.org I've only shot 2 matches that were posted on that sight. I shoot about 20 per year A vast majority of the matches I shoot are on USPSA. In fact I prefer it, as USPSA emails me when a match is posted. And I can easily find matches by club using the club id. Whenever I am forced to use the Pratiscore website half the time I can't find the match unless someone gives me a link.
  13. I am using a 17lb Wolff 1911 recoil spring on a GGI Fat Guide rod. That seems to work well for my 180gr major loads that chronoed at 169.4 PF last week.

    P320 Limited gun

Well my limited gun is pretty complete, going to shoot it tomorrow. Started with my Team SIG gun which as the GGI Competition Action Package. Added a SIG P320 40S&W Xchange kit that GGI milled for an adjustable sight with a Dawson 0.100" W front sight. GGI FAT Guide Rod with a 17lb Wolff 1911 Recoil Spring Standard Medium Grip Module with the Springer Precision Open Brass Mag Well Springer Precision 0.375" Base Pad with the SP locking plates Still waiting on Springer Precision Grip Tape, and the Springer Precision extended magazine release (they were out of stock when I passed by this afternoon). The gun with the Taylor Freelance 0.375" with the stock locking plates weighted 2lbs 5.8oz. I think the SP stuff I will be using it will be a little over 2lbs 6oz, which is damn close to a STI. Pictures and range report to come. I left it at GGI, as it wouldn't fit in the gun case I was going to take to the place where I am staying near Spray.
  15. Not really new, they've been around for a couple of years now. ETTS is a great range, but back when I was a member very muddy if it rained within the last 24 hours during the summer, or 72 hours during the winter. I am told that they gravel to deal with it. But that wasn't done before I left Texas. It really isn't too busy, even during a match weekend you can often at least get a short bay to yourself with no wait. Of course the range fee is twice as much as TDSA. TDSA is also a great range, and Lenn is a great guy. Before I was a member of ETTS I was a member there. But they got really busy. It got to the point that I would show up before first light to secure a bay for myself. I did like the pea sized gravel in the first couple of bays as it was really effective to combat the mud there, and it wasn't too large that I had walking difficulties.
  16. I wanted to browse to see what Dawson was selling for Limited STIs, and they were no where to be seen. Is Dawson getting out of the gun business?
  17. No panic here. Just trying to figure out the process so I am not running around like a headless chicken a year from now. In fact I need to go get my passport renewed soon.
  18. That is a lot easier to follow. About the only question I have, is when they are talking about a copy of the firearms license being required, do they mean from my country/state? If so do Concealed Carry Permits count?
  19. Based on my reading of the rules, it sounds like we will have to apply to get our pistols added to the allowed guns list. Do we just use the form, or is someone going to work with that department to get a single large list? As I know my gun isn't on the list.
  20. I found this site, trying to figure out what I need to go there. http://www.police.govt.nz/advice/firearms/visitors-firearms-licence-and-import-permits
  21. Again based on a post on the A6 Facebook group, Monday in groups of 20-25 shooters.
