  1. There was a new one last Sunday. But they reuse so much footage from the previous episodes in every one, it's almost like watching reruns. It's like one step forward and two steps back.
  2. 105 feet free diving! Holy Cow. Did you ever come back up? Once upon a time, I could do 50 feet, and that seemed a very long way back to the surface.
  3. That's true for cars, in spades. Like an in tank fuel pump I needed recently. At the dealer ~ $400! At the local auto parts store ~ $300. From an auto parts store via the internet - $200. All the same manufacturer and part number. The only difference was the box it came in.
  4. No one has mentioned the iron sword, The first army with that just blew through their adversaries, who were still using bronze ones. Bet how to make them was a well kept secret for a long time. Then there was the sling shot, the kind David used. Probably the first long distance weapon that could be used with serious accuracy. The Romans used them to great advantage when conquering the British Isles. No shortage of ammo, either. When they ran out of the good stuff, they just used rocks. Try that with your .45!
  5. Ubuntu Linux! No crashes, plenty of good software for just about any purpose. Most everything is free. Needs less computer to run well. Don't need no stinkin' Windows.
  6. While the falling plates and the mover are the more entertaining courses of fire, there are another dozen in the rule book. So, there's no need to do the same ones over and over. And a set of falling plates is not that expensive, so there's one of the two most popular courses of fire. And the rest are simple to set up and run. There's a large potential group of folks, who might be very interested in AP, if it were available. Older folks, who can't do the run 'n gun stuff any more or pull the trigger multi times per second. AP is just about right, still fast enough to be entertaining, but without the physical requirements of the other games. Imagine how many former uspsa competitors there must be, and probably idpa, by now, too. Thousands, probably.
  7. Hey, where's the zombie targets? There's only the same cardboard targets, everyone else uses. Where's the flesh dripping, evil smelling zombies? Where's the limb bit infecteds, missing large chunks of themselves? If it's gonna' be called Zombie Shooting, it's gotta' have zombies.
  8. Want Top Shot with all women? It's this, on the Versus Channel: http://ammoandattitude.com/
  9. With two great looking women, betcha' when/if the women go, so does a lot of the audience.
  10. Anyone play this game? It's a little different. http://zombieshootersassociation.com/
  11. The Namco brand "Time Crisis" and "Point Blank" games, with a fairly realistic light gun, are real good. The accuracy is within a pixel or two and the targets respond life like. Unfortunately, they are no longer being made and were for the Playstations 1 and 2. But they are worth hunting for.
  12. Apparently it's being shown only that one time, Sundays at 9am eastern, with no reruns. Most of the other shows are repeated to the point of boredom, but not this one. Naturally.
  13. EAA Witness guns are Tanfolio made. Maybe they can supply a barrel.
  14. "Soft Target", Stephen Hunter's latest Swaggart yarn is now available at all the usual places. They are always a good read, by an author who knows guns and shooting.
  15. Without a corresponding increase in participants, more equipment divisions just dilutes the competition. Whatever happened to the idea of the stage designs determining the "level playing field", instead of adding yet more divisions?
  16. This activity is not for everyone who owns a gun and likes to shoot. Any more than, say, driving a race car or cave diving. My introduction was by an invitation from a friend, along with three others. I was the only one who came back for more. The others enjoyed the day but weren't about to put in the time and effort to continue. It might be easier to reclaim previous participants, than trying to get new folks to take part.
  17. Instinctive shooting does not require using the weapon for aiming. The entire focus is on the target, not the gun. Ask any instinctive style archer or shotgunner.
  18. All my airguns are CO2, just to avoid this issue. A small drop of silicone oil, on the top of each CO2 cartridge before use, provides good lubrication to the internals. Some of these guns are many years old, and have seen hard use, with no problems. More use than my real guns, come to think.
  19. Wood poppers and plates. They work about as good as steel, at least for awhile. And no bounce back. Just have extras. And a broom and pan to pick up the pieces. Actually, if they're made thick enough, they will last a long time.
  20. And a Happy New Year to you, too, from those of miscellaneous origins.
  21. Thanks for the information. So far, no luck in finding either AP or Steel club matches in our vicinity. The two biggies for Steel aren't too far, two to three hours drive, but the entry fees are too rich. Coupled with the multiple days of personal expenses per each match, they just aren't in the cards. A club match would be more my speed. As to running an AP match somewhere, been there, done that, and getting too old and lazy to start one from scratch. Oh well, there's no shortage of uspsa games. Could be worse. Thanks again for the replies.
  22. Well, that's not good news. No wonder the game has lost its popularity. Can't shoot 'em if ya can't find 'em. Too bad, as this style of match would probably find a decent audience, as we all get older and less able to run around so good. Well, there's always the Steel Challenge matches. If I can find some.
  23. It's easy to find USPSA and IDPA club listings at their respective web sites. But not so easy to find AP match clubs. The NRA Shooting Sports magazine has a few, but that can't be the entire list of such clubs. Is there a place, as yet unknown to me, that lists them? I'm in Florida, but lots of others around the country might want to know, too.
  24. I do something similar. But since I am cheap and make my own targets, out of scrap brown cardboard, they aren't white on the back. I use either a regular target, with everything but the A zone covered or painted over. Or the opposite - the A zone a different color than the rest. The effect is the same as yours, though. It definitely helps to always focus on the A zones.
  25. You are all missing the opportunity to improve your physical abilities for dealing with those shots through low ports and around low barricades. Duck walking around the range, picking up brass, is an excellent exercise for strengthening those leg and thigh muscles.
