  1. Nope, we've seen you shoot. I'm just kidding. That was a cheap shot and I'm better than that....no I'm not.
  2. Yeah, I'll stick with my Saiga for now. Seemed to work well enough for third at the Open Nats last year and 1st at the FB3G. I honestly can't imagine a better gun. It shoots incredibly fast. I had an issue with a soft piston that held me up a bit of last year. Now that it's replaced it's running 100%. Took a bit to get it 100% but I freaking love that gun. I'm sure the Akdal will be fine. I just haven't seen one run yet. If it's a thousand bucks cheaper than my Saiga and they can get it to run right I'll probably pick one up once I run my Saiga into the ground. Until then I'm happy to keep beating the Akdal shooters. And Craig, no offense to you or Jim or Tromix, but I think the gun actually needs to win a match before it can be declared as an anything killer.
  3. I like having a meeting and finding out I need to figure out targets to shoot a rocket launcher and a .50 BMG Gatling Gun at.

  5. Got a .163 avg with one of them a 0.0000. Definitely more dumb luck than anything else. Pretty consistent between .2 and .22
  6. They still haven't sent me one from last year. I emailed Pete and supposedly it's in the mail. Last thing I'm waiting on till I turn my taxes in. Be nice if they got it out when they were supposed to.
  7. A few years back I got a very, very good deal on a plate rack from Action Target. $400 shipped. I've replaced the plates on it three times because they cracked almost immediately. The plate rack ended up getting shot in the bar that locks the plates in place. Unless I get out there with a cutting torch it's basically worthless. Same thing with a dueling tree I won. Plates crack after minimal use. I've used some steel from other manufacturers and I've shot on steel all around the country. I've started only buying MGM after seeing how well it holds up to everything thrown at it. We've had an MGM plate rack for three years now. I spraypainted it yesterday and it looks new. Not even a hint of use. I've seen the steel at MGM hold up to all sorts of handgun and rifle fire. Plus MGM is incredible to deal with. There are a couple ways to buy steel. Go cheap and replace it often. Or pay for quality and it will out last you.
  8. I'm not sure if this means anything but it seems some of the shooter profiles have gone missing from this page. http://3gunnation.com/shooters I know a couple of people that are doing the pro series and a couple that were in the top 64 but declined to join. Could just be a coincidence but the ones that are doing the pro series still have profiles up while the ones that declined are gone. Even if my theory is right I'm sure this page is still a work in progress. Be my guess. I said no and my profile is gone. You said No? what an amateur you are. I'd love to do it but I have about 40 hours of vacation time left at work. No way to do it this year. Basically taking 2012 off so I can hit it again in 2013.

  10. First match of the year in the book. We had 7 shooters and two more fellows came out to watch and said they would be back next month. Not a bad start to the year and we were done and off the range by noon.
  11. You're doing it wrong, at least from a compeition perspective. The fastest guys don't specifically look at the magwell, but they do bring the gun in from extension and have it in front of their face. Have you ever seen anyone thread a needle with the needle and thread at full arms extension? There's a reason for that. The way I teach is to bring the gun back to a consistent position with the gun hand elbow against the rib cage and gun up in front of the face. Doesn't work for everyone but it works for me.
  12. If you take a look at the MG forum, there is a thread at the top, pinned for 2012 match announcements. I started a thread for 2012 match announcements, just don't know how to pin it so it's at the top.
  13. Did something in particular change? Other question was does HM shoot the same hits on paper as tactical optics? They didn't have HM Lim in the rules because it wasn't a recognized division until a week or two ago. A quick review of the rules didn't show any differences between scoring for HM and Tactical.
  14. It's 9 loaded. If you want to run a 15 round tube go for it. Just don't slip that 10 th round in the gun.
  15. Depends on the rules, division and match. Heavy Metal Tac/optics normally allow an auto. HM Lim is usually pump.

  17. So I was thinking it would probably be beneficial to have a single thread pinned at the top to list the dates for State, Regional and the Cup. Similar to what they have in the Pistol and MG forums? Does that sound workable?
  18. We host NRA AP at Tri-County Gun Club in Sherwood, Oregon on most of the second Sundays. I had to skip a couple but here is the schedule for at least the next few months. Feb 12 Mar 11 May 13 Jun 10 Jul 8 Aug 12 The matches are held in the Action Range and the gate code to enter is 384045. If you're planning on coming, send me a PM though. I know there is talk about installing a new gate system and I'd hate to have someone show up and not be able to get in. We start at 9 AM and continue till we're done. Pretty low number of shooters so it normally doesn't take long...for now. We shoot the Barricade, Practical and Falling Plates. No mover yet.
  19. Not surprised by that. The .40 Gen 4 really makes a difference. The 9mm not as much. The Gen 4 also has some issues with lighter loads. Makes the 9mm more of an iffy proposition unless you're shooting higher PF ammo. Of course I say that wearing a Gen 4 19 on my hip. Oops, almost forgot, Foley is right. The Gen 3 17 is the best gun ever made. Take that 1911 fanboys!
  20. Yep. I know what you were looking for. Trying to shoot less rounds in HMO. Shame on you. The Ironman is all about shooting every dang round of ammo you can scrounge up. Of course they won't have a one anywhere for HM.
  21. I just sent him an email. Let's find out.
  22. I thought the best way would be to email Rob at the email address listed on the postings. But that didn't work either. Heard back from Rob but he didn't have the answers yet either. I think there will be a bit of flux over the next month or so.
  23. Some will, some won't. Most will work at some level of retention. If it won't work, then shoot Open. I'm always happy to see fellow LE hit the range. But there is no reason to make all sorts of exceptions for them. They can find a way to shoot in accordance with the rules or they can shoot for no score. Lots of options. If they have the competetive drive they'll sort their gear out. If they don't they can still get all sorts of practice in.
  24. First off, I've never seen any officer show up in "FULL" duty gear. Bits and pieces yes, duty rig yes, everything, no. Second, if he wanted to take the light off it would be a non issue. If he really wants to argue the point and is there for training, then it really doesn't matter, Open is fine. Personally I don't want to be in a position of shortcutting division rules for every widget that someone wants to claim is for duty carry. Holster position, magazine pouches, that makes sense. Lights, lasers, red dots, uh no. It's a lot easier to have a bright clean line in this case than it is to have a different interpretation at every different venue. Thanks Chuck, for the response. BTW, we did have a LEO shoot in a match in January wearing everything I think that he could carry (cuffs, taser, baton, everything, I think!) Was he wearing body armor? If not I'm betting he was just wearing the belt.
