It really depends on what you want for accuracy. I tried out two M&P .22s, and was really disappointed that the the best groups I could get out of them, trying maybe 10 different types of ammo was about 4" at 25 yards, whereas with the right ammo, I can get groups undr an inch at 75 yards with my Marvel 1. Yep....... so true......

I thought the main differance between the two was the case heck leaght... 6.5 CR is longer to better hold the bullet.... I think...???

RayFromHouston replied to bigbearhunter's topic in Open Pistols
Here is mine that Gary @ GAN's installed on my gun............. The "racker" part came from Home Depoe or Lowe's.... can you guess what it is... -
So true... I have a Para 18-9mm lower with a Marval Unit 1 upper... and it shoots GREAT... thinking about going with a 90 deg. mound off the frame and a C-more... But, I already have a 22/45 set up for steel open..... down side... I have about 1100.00 tatal in the setup.. But I think so worth it....

Mike.... what part of the world are you in?????????? And Mike, remember, your gun is onle as good as YOU ARE... I cleaned two (2) stages at my match yesterday with my POS, 9mm Tuarus..... Really doesn't matter that they used a sun dial to time me, but with 2 bad knees.... that's the way O ROLL..... If your anywhere close to Houston... I'll let you shoot a match with mine...............

Here is my steel gun........... have about 550-600.00 in it..... Way too much FUN for the cost......................

Speculation, of course. Here are some articles/threads. Nothing is 100%, but like I said, I would bet it's probably an STI, if not, at least a "custom" PT1911. I have a very hard time believing ANY top-level competitor uses a "stock," "off-the-shelf" gun. Even the M&P, Glock, etc. shooters. Gee Cody.... I guess you could say that ALL of my PT-1911 are "custom" then..... I have added F/O front sights all 5 of mine (9mm, 38 Super and 3 .45 ACP)..... Does "Big Daddy" use a "stock" Hemi block????????????? Your missing my point... For under 600.00 bucks you can get a 1911 with a SHIT load of up-grades....... To me... thats 400.00 bucks worth of ammo........
-
Even tho people poo-poo the Tuarus PT-1911 here.................. There still a great gun to get started with and if the "insides" do take a crap on you.... you can replace them with EGW parts and REALLY have a great gun............ and for the people that say "only buy from the places that support the sport".............. I saw a couple of shows on TV the last couple of days that had a female shooter that was shooting for Tuarus team.... So THERE.... :goof: :goof:

Good luck with your range................

I have to start getting back into it somewhere.... I got my Mod. 70 XTC (.308, 22" Br.) rifle out of the BiL safe the other night and am thinking about setting it up as a mid range gun to shoot @ 300 and 600..... that way I can shoot cheeper 175's MK's out of the shorter barrle and not have to take a scope from 300 to 1000 yards.... Got my new shooting mat on Monday... ammo from SouthWest Ammo will be here on Friday and the Gen 2 Bipod that I bought from a seller HERE will be here today or tommorrow.....

Yep..... the CC companys are WATCHING.... I had someone over in Europe try to use my Debit card back in Sept. , But I bought fuel in Ruffs Dale, PA. that morning... they called me and stoped my card till I told them what I had bought ofer the last 12-18 hours.....
