  1. OK, from what it looks like, its a part-time job, IMO. At least, as written, it looks pretty much like "attend meetings of the board", and "over-see the ED." Sounds more like a board member than anything else.
  2. I'm really just paraphrasing BEnos, Psirig, and lots of other folks, but the first flag I saw was that you had "expectations." That can, almost always, trigger a downward spiral into hatred and misery. The one thing, which you can be assured, is totally irrelevant to your fate, and reality, is your expectations. Life is.
  3. If its not a full-time job, then I think its fine - provided it does not require incurring a significant number of uncovered expenses. Between retirees, and men who control their own schedule, I think we shouldn't have a salary issue in filling the job. But, really, w.o. a concept of the work-load, I don't see how anyone could offer a meaningful opinion.
  4. You'll want a flat top. Otherwise... They're grown-up Legos... All I can suggest is trying out different items, and seeing which ones you like.
  5. Well, there are almost always people on the other side of a berm, if you go far enough. As for handling a gun while someone is down range, that's nuts. Calling your own hot and colds is standard at every club I've belonged to, unless there's a match, etc going on. A horn/lights are more common on the longer ranges.
  6. Sounds like fun, but I would't worry about that "idle" stuff - any way to get a car w. a hand throttle? Just strap them in, and go...
  7. Stock, I'd say the XDm 5.25. I've seen some good M&Ps with replacement barrels.
  8. A) Yes, we will all laugh at you - and everyone else. Goofy, hilarious things tend to happen in matches - it won't have anything to do w your gear... I doubt anyone will laugh at any normal kind of gun - although I think an ACOG would be a challenge to use, ESP wo an auxiliary sight of some kind. Now, when I remember to bring it down, and my game gun gets maroon white and gray tiger stripes... That is meant to be amusing...
  9. If it wasn't for the RSA bit, I'd send you mine to try out. One of my friends likes his quite a bit, two of us can't stand them - the post that supports the gun "tickles" me in some fashion - difficult sensation to explain, but very unpleasant. I don't know what about it got to another buddy. But, I do really like appendix carry.
  10. I don't mean to disparage anyone - and I realize how well conditioning can help - I've seen some SF kids put in astounding times (they are well instructed on shooting too), in large part due to their physical abilities. But, compared to how fast athletes move, shooters aren't there, yet. Munden, and I think JM, are the only two I've seen -admittedly only on TV - who look like they're moving their hands as fast as an athlete can. Similarly, once shooters start looking like college wide receivers, it will be at a point where the top shooters are athletes. Had shooting stayed as physical as it was, we'd already see that. And, it would have more broadcast appeal, possibly.
  11. Shooters don't move fast*, yet. Even the best shooters, are still moving rather slow compared to humans who are moving fast (Olympic weight lifters, etc.) *Munden and JM, excepted - but they could still be doing things, aside from the pure shooting, much faster. It is not, yet, a sport at a level which taxes the physical capabilities of the shooter. That could, easily, change. It depends on whether or not the sport decides it wants to encourage physicality, and, possibly, visual appeal. Good shooters do think, to an extent, about how they move, but they aren't, yet, training like athletes. I'm pretty sure, I've actually made a completely irrelevant comment, in hindsight - but shooters "think" about how to shoot fast, then actually move rather slowly.
  12. I'd say the money is worth the difference. I never thought the 4.5 felt that special - I REALLY like the 5.25
  13. Any updates on this? Not sure if the reviews are for the current version of the Docter sight.
  14. Personally, I think "Tactical Barbies" is a better term... I don't really care what they wear - other than if they showed up in an "imitation" uniform - but, TMK, I've never seen that. But the attitudes the survivalists tend to express can be hilarious. If any of us were serious about that, we'd all be shooting pocket guns, in work clothes...
  15. A) The iron mind bands for working the extensors are quite helpful. Some animals have a problem with uncontrolled eating - the mastiff-related breeds can have it, and one of the ways you can "force feed" an animal for butchering is to keep filling their feed trough while they are eating. The force feeding technique seems to work on a variety of animals, but the "bloating" issue which affects mastiffs, bulldogs, etc, seems to be genetic. Could you have an SIRT or airsoft pistol in DC?
  16. A surprisingly small amount of lint will render a P226 inoperable, if it gets over the firing pin.
  17. There could be a market for a sport, involving shooting - but it would have to be reworked into something more TV friendly. (EG, strongman competitions are, in a way, the "show" version of weightlifting.) You're going to have to rework the sport so that champions look marketable - which means athletes. Combine one of those "ninja warrior" course, w. shooting, and you'd have something much more appealing, visually.
  18. Congrats! Pretty sure there's a match in Georgetown tomorrow.
  19. Go to the dark side. IPSC = Race gun. Nothing else quite makes sense.
  20. As was I. He still has his lead time on his website as 4 months. I realize I have a harsher view of such things, as I work in manufacturing, but knowing you won't make a deadline, and stating that you will, is fraud. (I understand there may have been unforeseen circumstances which arose for the prior order, but not talking to people, and still stating a 4 month deadline, is dishonest.)
  21. I placed an order about 6 months ago (I was told it would take 4 months) - and have emailed and called without receiving a response. Anyone know anything?
