  1. Do a search on line for a rifle front replacement sight. I replaced mine with a fiber optic rifle replacement sight. You can get different heights. I beleive the dovetail is 3/8. Measure it to be sure. Jim
  2. Not to hard to set up. Really speeds loading up. I have used mine for 9mm 38spec and 38 short colt and have had very few problems. I wish they had come out with it a lot sooner. Jim
  3. Hi S&W627shooter, I think you must be getting your brass from the same source I am. There are a number of different head stamps that are crimped brass. S&B, WWC, and yes some WIN brass as well. I have to hand sort my brass before loading and still get some crimped brass. I leave the WIN brass in because most of it is ok. Ya I would love to have a 1050. That would solve the problem. Good luck, Jim
  4. Hi Yaba, A lot depends on the gun your shooting it in. I am shooting a Glock 17 with a KKM comp barrel. My gun does not like longer OAL. I am using Vihtavuortri 3N37 5.1 MG124hp bullet Fed. primers OAL of 1.08 PF is over 120 I shot this at Piru this year. This is a very accurate load in my gun. I had tested this load at 1.130 in my gun and had problems. My friend shots an XD and his gun likes the longer OAL and will jam with the shorter OAL. Good luck,
  5. Hi Shooterready Yes I have a problem with my brand new M2 chrono. First few strings worked perfect showing Vol. were they should be but I could not get the Power factor button to work. With about 50 rounds through the screens it started giving me reading like 3550 volosity and all over the place. The setup was indoor range no flouresnt lights using infared screens and battery pack. Did the same as you, turned the unit off then on, finnally pulled the battery and reinsterted nothing helped. I called CED on Friday May 1st. and taked to them. I am waiting on a call back from there Tech. at this time. Guess I will go to the range again next week and try it again, Then call them back. Good luck with yours, I will keep you posted. Jim
  6. My famelies thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family, with a speedy recovery for both your boys. Kids our Gods most precious gift. Jim C.
  7. I'm sure you could just not sure how good it would look. So far I have not had any problems with the bushing on mine. A friend also made the comment to try and use grip bushings like what is used on an STI but I have not seen this and don't know what they look like. Jim
  8. Yes, a comp on a .22 makes a noticeable difference. I have an open and limited 22/45, so I have shot them together. Here's my "open" .22 Very nice is that a custom comp?
  9. I milled down the stock grip and tapped and screwed in standard 1911 grip bushings using JB weld on them. I used epoxy the first time and a couple of the bushings came loose but so far the JB weld is working good. Jim
  10. Yes believe it on not the comp does work and makes a difference with a short barrel like this. One of my next projects may be to see if I can make it even better. I am getting ready to change the safety to something like a 1911. More pics after that mod. Jim
  11. Very nice blaster!! Some day I hope to get one but have to live with a open glock for now. Jim
  12. Great videos. What a help this would be for training!! Hope to see more videos. And yes I think a lot of people would love to see a glock in action. Nice to see cameras like this coming out. Thanks for sharing! Jim
  13. Looks like a great find Congrats. You will have a lot of fun with it. I have one where I work and it sure is nice for making parts. Jim
  14. That is definetly going to be a custom part. You may be able to take a 1911 safety and modify it to work. May be some welding involved. Good Luck, Jim
  15. Yet Dave is right the buttons are harder then heck good sharp bit or a carbide bit in a dremal. I don't have a pic on the button I installed on my mag release but it should work on the safety as a matter of fact I think that may be my next project!
  16. Thanks I did'nt know that. When I bought it it had a complete Volquarten hammer and trigger assembly. I guess thats why the mags would drop if I moved my hand...
  17. What I found was my hand was not allowing the mags to drop free if I move the bottom of my hand they drop fine. So I built the mag well to take care of it. I did have to grind the back of the mag bases to make the work but I did that even before making the mag well to see if that woold help. It's a real pain when your on the clock and you have to claw at the mag to get them out!! It work great now and I hope to be testing it next week at a 22 action match in SLOSA, Ca.
  18. Here is my new custom ruger 22-45 Started as a Ruger Mark III Hunter 22/45 with a 4.5” fluted barrel. Volquartsen comp Volquartsen complete trigger kit 2.5# trigger. 1911 grips Custom built brass magazine well Oversized magazine release button Weaver style mount with Ultradot sight If you have ever picked up a 22-45 you have probably wondered how it could feel like a colt 1911. The grip angle is there but it just does not feel the same. I bought this pistol from a friend who did not like the feel of the grip and he had already done most of the work to make it shoot great for competition. When I got it the first thing I thought was we have to do something with the grip!! Well I headed over to my buddies house (he has a mill sitting in his garage) and we looked it over, did some measuring and clamped it in the mill and off came the stock grips. A few parts from Midway and I installed 1911 grip bushings and stock 1911 grips. Just a note if you do this I used 2 part epoxy the first time, and had to redo them with JB weld. The first time I went out and shot 22 action pistol I ran into a little trouble changing mags. That sucks when you’re on the clock!! Went home and checked everything and the mags drop just fine, it’s my fat hand in the way. So easy fix right? No you can’t buy a mag well for a 22-45. So back to my friend’s house and what you see is the result of a few hours and a lot of experimentation. It should work great at the next 22 action pistol match! I need to thank my friend Dave for his help and use of his equipment. It’s a good thing he is as much if not more of a nut then I am when it comes to guns.
  19. Here is my new 22-45 I ended up making some of my own parts. There are a few more parts that will work on it. Jim
  20. I just put together a new glock 17C and installed a dawson brass mag well on it. When first installed it would not come up tight in the front when it was tightened up. I shaved a little brass from the front of the plug and it pulled it up tight on the front of the grip. Nice and tight and does not move at all also looks good. Jim
