Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Some one asked a question about accuracy and how much difference it made, I posted an answer and I am copying it here. The accuracy of a pistol ammunition and shooter combo directly relates to the precision with which a shot can be taken. When you know that the “pistol, ammo” combo is capable of a 1.5” group at 25 yards then anything less then that is the shooters ability to NOT maintain precise control of the pistol, (sight picture, grip, stance, balance, trigger control) the outcome of this is shooting slower and or better control of trigger and sights. When the “pistol, ammo” combo is shooting 7” at 25 yards it doesn’t really matter how hard you try to shoot better the results we always be poor. For Example A/ If the gun ammo shooter combo is only capable of an 8” group at 25 yards then shooting a 6” plate becomes luck, you can shoot at the center of the plate and still miss or be 5” away be luck with the “off” shot in the group and still hit it! B/ If the gun ammo shooter combo is capable of 3” at 25 yards now you hold is anywhere within 1.5” of the edge of the plate! When we worked on the Accu shadow project, I spent many days on the range testing various ammo combos, we did ALL of the testing at 50 YARDS, and this is a harsh distance for most free hand shooting as well as a great test of the ammo and the pistol. Some of the factory ammunition we shot, resulted in groups that were so horrifying I was amazed it was factory ammunition. So FYI Just because you pistol shoots a bad group don’t immediately blame yourself or you pistol first, we saw such horrific result with some factory 9mm at 50 yards that I was shocked
  2. If you made an internal bushing as tight as the accu shadow you would not be able to remove the barrel.
  3. L10 Nationals in Montana forgot what year :-( Tactical Sports
  4. Then you are talking about factory Shadows, which we in the US have no control over.
  5. Guns normally ship with 6.0mm front sometimes 6.5 if the POA need altering. Not 5.5mm
  6. A lot of the issue is the bullet flight path. I did a lot of testing, and the difference of impact point with the same sights, sight hold and ammo changes at differing distance, that's because the 9mm does have a slightly curved flight path. So the distance you zero makes a difference, to POI at differing distance! Since the tightest group we shoot is close up, that's the easiest way to ascertain where the gun shoot. Groups get bigger as the target distance increases and that make it more difficult to ascertain the exact center of group anyway! Also the actual hold on the target at distance is more difficult, since the error of holding the gun at the same place and steady becomes way more difficult even from a bag! The reason for any gun shooting a little high is so you can aim POA at say 50 yards and the gun shoots a little higher. At speed it is always best to aim dead center. Now you know that even with a little trigger flinch the bullet will fly hi. A USPSA target at 50 yards is pretty small, so better to halve, it then try to shoot point of aim, also the A zone is not centered it is higher then the vertical center line of the target. Naturally we want the bullets in the A zone. Most people cannot shoot better then say 6" at 50 anyway, so how do you actually know where the sight is shooting (withing that group) Choosing the center of the group may not be correct? At 7 / 10 yards on most of the targets we shoot an inch makes no difference at all, the A Zone is 11" high most error at speed is left to right. With a small plate the difference is you see, more target by aiming down the plate. After all what's 1" between friends. I suppose the most critical distance is around 15 /18 yards, that's the most difficult to shoot a plate and about the furthest we shoot 6" plates. If you imagine half a 6" plate at 18 yards when you have and the gun completely covering the lower half of the plate. Now you are shooting a 3 inch target with no reference point.
  7. But then you need a bullet feeder I would not be putting my fingers in there LOL
  8. FYI Factory guns are just that, we have not touched them, not even opened the box. (Except to get the serial number) If CZ UB (The Czech's) decided they were ready to shoot and ship then to us we have to accept that. CZ USA normally does the warranty work, but we are also authorized for warranty work. Normally we handle local warranty that requires no shipping.
  9. So far I have not had any of the Armscor ammo to test, I called for a friend to get some but did not recive a reply. I have no idea if they even have any of the IPSC loads in the USA. All concerned should ring Armscor in Nevada (775) 537-1444 I myself have formulated a 9mm Minor load using 55g Bullets which means I can easily take 1000 pieces under the 11lb rule. little warm to shoot and very high velocity but at least i will have enough ammo.
  10. We have tested the guns with "no FPB" extensively. Dropping them from 2.0 meters muzzle first onto concrete and onto the hammer. Hitting the hammer with a 4 lb ball peen hammer etc, in no case have we been able to make the gun go off. Correct, many manufacturers make firearms without FBP's Have done for years. It is deemed ok in the 85 combat, SP01 SHadow and a plethora of 1911's and other guns.
  11. P06 is a decoker gun, the sa da hammer will not fit un modified. Be careful taking it apart you need to use slave pins or will have sprins and parts spread all around the room.
  12. Well here's my reloading room. Still not finished need to make more space for the other 2 1050 and the cam dex.
  13. FYI, yes the gun went off. The disconnector was proud inside the frame, the magazine hit it on the reload and cause the gun to fire. The round impacted the berm about 20/25 feet from the target. Something we should all be aware of in the future, I changed the hammer and sear before the match, because the hammer was following and did not get the time to test fire. My bad.....
