Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I would appreciate a couple of recommendations. 1. I have a new-ish, blued 1911 and am thinking of trying it in Single Stack. Does anyone know of any holsters that would be less abrasive to the pistol's finish? 2. As for tools, do experienced folks have recommendations for grip screw screwdrivers or punches that would also inflict the least damage? The trigger pull seems light enough on this one, but there really is a ton of creep for a M1911. So I am going to need to go in there and do something. I am a longtime Glock guy, so I haven't really worried about protecting a gun's finish before. Thanks and have a nice Thursday everyone.
  2. I have fired Acme coated, Blue coated, and Federal Syntech through Glocks. All worked fine. The Blue 165s were scary accurate in my Glock 20. The Acme 170s were SWCs and I had no feeding issues in the 20. The only bugaboo that I have run into is coating shavings getting into the guts of my Dillon. The next time that I do a run I'll need to increase the belling.
  3. Does anyone know the details of the PCC that this Tandemkross competitor is using? The parts? How it runs? Etc. The picture is one of the ones that the USPSA uses on the landing page of its website. It looks like a Colt mag AR9 with a carbon fiber handguard.
  4. I have used a ton of them but mostly in Glocks and for informal bullseye and skills practice (not USPSA matches). I loaded them over Accurate Arms 2 and 5 powders, with medium to warmer than medium charge weights, based on the Western reloading manual's recommendations. I have never had a problem with them. My OAL was around 1.106, but I don't adjust it much. I did shoot a 49/50 4x with 115 HAPs and AA5 on a B8 center at 25 yards freestyle. So, I pretty much respect these bullets, at least in my handguns.
  5. I picked up the kit in 2015. It was called "Zev Starter Spring Kit," (#SPR-START-KIT). It included the V4 Race Connector. I haven't tried Zev's new Pro connector, so I can't offer a comparison.
  6. I have only tried a couple of different alternatives. That said, I really like the old Zev kit of connector and three springs. I have that in a Gen4 17 that has about 5000 rounds through it. It creates very soft and smooth rolling break. Zev may not make it anymore, but there may be some out there in distribution.
  7. A friend of mine has a Springfield Trophy Match in 45 ACP. It's a target version of an M1911. The rear sight looks pretty much like a Bomar clone. I am not 100% sure on that. Anyway, has anyone heard of a red dot mount that works well in a sight cut like that? He an older guy and may need to transition from iron sights to red dot on that pistol, or give up bullseye. I'd hate to see him give it up, several decades ago he was on his USMC pistol team and it's something of a point of pride for him.
  8. Dear forum members, I have a friend who has a high quality AR with a high quality optic and trigger but hasn't grouped under 1 MOA yet. He has only tried factory ammo so far. I am going to make some reloads for him and was wondering what recommendations this forum would have for the bullet choice. Please chime in. I have my own idea, but I wanted to hear from the Brian Enos forum guys. The barrel is stainless and has a 1 in 7 twist rate. The goal is the most accurate bullet for 100 yard shooting. The rifle's chamber takes .223 and 5.56 ammo. (I have been reloading .223/ 5.56 for about 10 years and do shoot sub MOA with my rifles, so as I said, I already have some ideas)
  9. I like CO the way it is. In my opinion, it doesn't need to be gamier. Open exists for that.
  10. Has anyone tried a sight dovetail mount for a red dot on a Sig P226? If so, which one and how did it work out? Asking for a friend who is thinking of using an old P226 in Carry Optics.
  11. I am running a 17MOS with a Deltapoint Pro. I just left the stock plastic sights on the pistol. They are way too low to cowitness, but not having functional iron sights is a non-issue for me so far. In the past 6 months, I've never needed them.
  12. I am using a Deltapoint Pro with the 7.5MOA triangle. It really seems bigger than 7.5, but the unit has had no issues.
  13. There may be one more element. It seems like M&Ps are pretty much single action guns. That is, the firing mechanism is fully cocked (energized) by the movement of the slide, unlike, for example, a Glock. So, this was a single action gun with a poorly reprofiled sear and a safety or two disabled. Kudos to Cameon for sharing this so that we all may learn. I wish her a full recovery. Thanks to everyone who provided insight on the failure.
  14. Has there ever been discussion of allowing Browning Hi-Power pistols in Single Stack (say, with M1911 magazine limits)? It seems as though while the Hi-Power is a classic IPSC and USPSA pistol, the only place for it now is Limited or Limited 10.
