big_kahuna
Unless there's an existing list somewhere of the shooters who made GM before age 18, let's make one. If someone knows of that list, please tell me where to find it. In the absence of that information, I'll start a tentative list with the ones I know of (or think I know of). Please correct any inaccuracies if I had anything wrong. Here's the tentative list: Nick Neel, Open Division, age 17, year 2009 KC Eusebio, ____ Division, age _____, year _____ Max Michel, _____Division, age _____, year _____ Nils Jonassen, _____Division, age _____, year _____ Shane Coley, _____Division, age _____, year _____ Lee Dimaculangan, _____ Division, age _____, year _____ Brad Balsley, _____ Division, age _____, year _____ BJ Norris, _____ Division, age _____, year _____

big_kahuna
I've been going through old major match results to get the details correct... it will take a while but I think it is worth it. Found out that Max Michel shows up as a GM as early as 1998. Here is updated list. GlockSpeed31
Nice info there and a lot of research & work. How about this: At what age were they introduced to shooting and what age did they compete in their first USPSA/IPSC match (local, informal match is ok)? I'm just wondering how young they were when they got started. I have a 2 year old that loves to play with his toy water gun/Nerf Guns. Actually has some decent stance developed already. My wife keeps asking what am I letting the boys watch while she is away? Sorry about the slight drift.
tad
According to Max's web sight he was born in 1981.. That would make him 17 in 1998.

The 1998 figure I posted was based on the earliest GM registration I was able to find for Max. It appears I didn't look hard enough I'll look up Max's classifiers and confirm when he classed GM. If he was 15, that should be 1996 or so. Will update list after I confirm.

I think that would be great information to add to the chronicle... but it will probably require contacting each of them to ask the questions. Will try to do this in the future as time and shifting priorities permit.

MontyMart
Let's not forget about the greatest junior IPSC GM to ever shoot the sport, ERIC GRAUFEL. That kid was born a GM!
beltjones
IS THE POINT OF THIS THREAD TO MAKE ME FEEL OLD??? Also, I think keep it to USPSA GM's considering IPSC considers people up to age 21 to be Juniors.
