Friends,

A registration form is now available for the 2003 Infinity US Open to be held in Reno NV October 10, 11, and 12th.

Find a link for the form and an announcement for this match at: www.infinityopen.org

There is an article about last year's Infinity US Open in the current issue of Front Sight, and I am sure that this year's match will be excellent as well.

Regards,

Mark A.

Hey guys, if you didn't hear about this match last year, you need to go! It was incredible! I think SV gave away 13 custom guns! The stages were pretty cool too. It was a great, laid back match with an incredible prize table. The way it should be all the time!

David,

Um, last year we only shot on 2 days. Sat & Sun. It was a great match, very laid back and they supplied lunch everyday for not only the competitors but spectators as well. Prize table was nothing I have ever seen. Freindly staff and with their experiance it can only get better.

Some where in these forums you may have read some constructive critisizm that I wrote. Matt and I went back and forth a little bit about a few things but it is well worth the travel and expense. I always tried to make it a point, even in my critisizm, that it was an awesome match and will be back this year. Find buddy that wants to go and split the expense.

I have to second Matt's response. Awsome match. Brought my wife and she even got lunch. I RO'ed a stage and they had a great RO prize table. A gun or two given at each lunch and a prize table for competitors that would choke a horse. I wish all major matches could be like this. Sure there was a problem or two, but no biggee. ALL matches have a problem or two.

A must for me AGAIN this year. Leavin the wife at home though this year !!! ;)

I have to say justifying the expense for this trip is far easier for this match than a nationals. Last year's Infinity Open was certainly better than most of the nationals I attended.

Less lost time because shooting days are occurring on mostly the weekend.

Better location to fly to, Las Vegas air fare is much cheaper than say, Illinois, for most people in the country.

More things to do when you're done shooting.

Hotels are cheaper.

SUPERIOR prize table, I think the cost of the trip for me was about 200 round trip air, another 100 for the car, and probably 170 for the 5 days hotel out there.

No lunch expense because it was provided, and I came home with over $600 in stuff for prizes.

The Infinity guys put on a great match

Oh, and there wasn't any wasted day and time with a banquet. Shooting finished Sunday, and then there was lunch, and about an hour after was prize distribution. None of the waiting around doing nothing killing time so you can go to a banquet.

Lodging should be cheap if you shop around. Probably can't do a whole lot better than the match hotel's motel unless you get a dive...

The match hotel is The Nugget, with two rates available - "The Towers" for $84 (Main Casino) and the Motor Court for $59 (not in the main casino).

The range is about a half hour from town. Often windy and dusty. Sandy surface.

There is this truckstop in Reno where they have this HUGE gun collection. I'm talkin this guy has probably a thousand or more old pistols and rifles. This collection has guns that were owned by Roy Rogers, Elvis, The Duke and a bunch of old outlaws too. I spent about 2 hours in there looking at it one day. If I can ever remember the name of that truckstop, I'll post it because you cannot go to Reno without seeing this collection.

Rufus,

I checked the link that you have mentioned with my computer and it does work, and I asked a few friends to try it as well and all were taken to the application form. Perhaps the settings on your browser prevents you from using the link with your computer.

There are other links to the 2003 Infinity US Open and they may be found on the USPSA web site under Major Match Schedule, or on the Strayer-Voigt, Infinity web site (www.sviguns.com).

If all else fails you can just type in www.infinityopen.org into the address line of your internet provider.

I sense that this match will sell out, and I hope that you get in and have a great time in Reno!!

Mark Agerholm

Storm,

Thank you for pointing out that there was a glitch with the on-line registration form. I am told that the form is back in action and is working properly now.

In regards to the number of competitors being signed up, I would be hesitant to speak for the match director but I can say that registrations are coming along nicely. This will be an excellent and well attended match.

I can report that the prize table will like last year be just enormous!! Everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) last year earned at least their match fee back in prizes.

The stages and the shooting last year was great as well.

I hope you can make it to the match.

Regards,

Mark Agerholm

I will be posting directions to the range on the Infinity Open web site as soon as I get them from Dave Uchida. The squadding will be done about two weeks before the match (I have all the requests submitted with the applications) once Dave tells me how many squads and how many in a squad. We will have a confirmation letter out to all competitors (by US Mail) at least two weeks before the match. Signups are going well, arrangements with numerous sponsors have been made; and it should be a great match. And yes, there are still some slots left.
