Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Folks, I'm sorry this post is both sorta late and sort of early, but by Sunday night the folks hosting the 2004 AWARE Invitational in Vermont should have at least one photograph of one of their stages posted on their site. If you have not shot the AWARE Invitationals in Vermont, this will be what you are missing! Last year's event was a movie "theme" match; this year's will be rock & roll inspired. The stage to be posted will be the stage that Infinity Firearms is sponsoring (and will give away a pistol for). It was designed by the Alexander family, and again, should be just amazing. Please look for the photos tomorrow at: http://www.gmps.ws/Aware/awarehome.htm This will be a well attended and well sponsored match. There is still time to get in. If you can make it next weekend, you really should go. Hope to see you there!! Regards, Mark Agerholm
  2. Folks, Owners of Infinity Modified Masterpiece compensated pistols may wish to review the "Important Notice for IMM Compensated Infinity Users" on the company's web site. Find them at: www.sviguns.com [edit: to add active link] http://www.sviguns.com/technical/immnotice.html Regards, Mark Agerholm
  3. Friends, The beautiful bronze color of the Schuemann barrels as fitted in complete Infinity Firearms pistols is a proprietary process that they have developed, and it is not for sale as a loose, barrel only part. You can read about this exclusive feature directly on the Infinity web site: http://www.sviguns.com/aet/aet.html I believe that the info offered on Wil's site reflects the barrel sales he makes directly to the public, and is not meant to cover how Infinity later hot-rods them. Sandy still offers this feature, and it is much more than a simple plating job or PVD coating on the outside of a barrel. I've always thought that the bronze-colored barrels look great, and it is fun spotting them at major matches. Thanks Leo for responding. Regards, Mark Agerholm Team Infinity
  4. Sorry to have taken so long to address this topic but one reason I believe that we had such a good table location was that Mary and I were displaying Infinity pistols and Grams magazine parts and tuning. I believe that the promoter wanted to see these top-flight items right out there and not buried somewhere in back of the hall. We had awesome attendance at this show, selling six pistols so far and showing hundreds of folks Beven's new followers. We busted our butts but had a great time. My friend Matt Joe helped us on Saturday as well, which was surely needed. Thanks Pete for stopping by and responding favorably to our efforts. Regards, Mark Agerholm Team Infinity
  5. I'd offer that CM 99-11, CM 99-22, and CM 99-62 are all very fast classifiers with such very high hit factors that the average shooter will be hard pressed to do well on. The top Gs have really pushed these classifier's H/H/Fs to such an incredible level. In the case of the El' Presidente, this is such a practiced staple in the sport that it has really been driven up there. The other two are similiar. One of the easiest classifiers to shoot is CM 99-32: a timed fire exercise with a very generous allotment of time to do your work. Almost everyone shoots this classifier many percentage points beyond what they normally can achieve. I personally know of at least two members that have been bumped up in class as a result of shooting this one particular classifier. An A-Class shooter should be able to shoot this one in the mid-nineties. Myself, I like em' all, doing well on some and trashing others. A favorite is CM 99-38 and CM 99-56. CM 99-45 is fun as well. All three are large field courses for the most part. Regards, Mark Agerholm
  6. To any new shooter interested in trying USPSA/IPSC, remember that there is already a wealth of information available to assist you. Some thoughts in no particular order would be: Get professional training. In Massachusetts for instance we have the Smith & Wesson Academy, offering many fine programs and courses that will truly help you learn the right way. There are also many USPSA champions who offer seminars in person, and this training cannot be beat. Attend a USPSA Safe Handgun Competitor program. In Massachusetts, our Area 7 Director Rob Boudrie offers these excellent two day programs annually. This program is very well thought out and is constantly refined by the NROI. Contact Rob at: rob@boudrie.com to inquire when the next program in Massachusetts is offered. Become a member of USPSA, and they will send a copy of the current rule book. Formally called a handbook, it contains a primer on getting started the right way. Purchase training video tapes or DVDs currently available on the market. Brian Enos offers many, and you can learn many, many good things. At Brian's site you can find Matt Burkett's DVDs (or tapes), which are outstanding. Purchase and read as many books on the sport as you can find. Some excellent ones are Brian's book, Matt Burkett's Practical Shooting Manual, and J. Michael Plaxco's Shooting from Within. Read the "Information for New Competitors" on the USPSA website. Larry Harrison has written an excellent article, and other articles offer useful advice as well. USPSA is a most excellent shooting discipline and you will find so many people that are willing to help and help you navigate all these new things to learn. As others have said, watch your muzzle, go slow at first, have fun, and be safe!! Best Regards, M.A.
  7. Folks, Stage diagrams and shooter start times have been added to the match's web site. View the latest information at: www.infinityopen.org Regards, Mark Agerholm
  8. Storm, Thank you for pointing out that there was a glitch with the on-line registration form. I am told that the form is back in action and is working properly now. In regards to the number of competitors being signed up, I would be hesitant to speak for the match director but I can say that registrations are coming along nicely. This will be an excellent and well attended match. I can report that the prize table will like last year be just enormous!! Everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) last year earned at least their match fee back in prizes. The stages and the shooting last year was great as well. I hope you can make it to the match. Regards, Mark Agerholm
  9. Rufus, I checked the link that you have mentioned with my computer and it does work, and I asked a few friends to try it as well and all were taken to the application form. Perhaps the settings on your browser prevents you from using the link with your computer. There are other links to the 2003 Infinity US Open and they may be found on the USPSA web site under Major Match Schedule, or on the Strayer-Voigt, Infinity web site (www.sviguns.com). If all else fails you can just type in www.infinityopen.org into the address line of your internet provider. I sense that this match will sell out, and I hope that you get in and have a great time in Reno!! Regards, Mark Agerholm Team Infinity
  10. Pete, You can also buy certain models of brand-new SV Infinity pistols in Massachusetts. Sandy Strayer spent a lot of time and expense to see to it that Infinity Firearms are on the Massachusetts roster of approved for sale firearms. See Infinity's web site for further details (look for Special Announcements for Massachusetts Customers). Hope this helps. Regards, Mark Agerholm
  11. Friends, A registration form is now available for the 2003 Infinity US Open to be held in Reno NV October 10, 11, and 12th. Find a link for the form and an announcement for this match at: www.infinityopen.org There is an article about last year's Infinity US Open in the current issue of Front Sight, and I am sure that this year's match will be excellent as well. Regards, Mark A.
