Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. I'm saddened he will never shoot with us again, and now will not be making the comeback he'd been talking about. goodbye Ian.
  2. don't wait for them, just buy the HBI trigger springs and parts, their flat theta trigger, and the replacement screw, you can drill out the weld pretty easily with a quality drill bit. the install is simple, makes a big difference, it's not going to be hiperfire nice but it's not $200 either. of course, if hiperfire were to come out with a scorpion trigger I know a someone who would rush out and buy it.
  3. I like mine. I think they are very good out of the box, but need the available upgrades like ak style right side safety switch, the bigger mag release, and the trigger needs replacing, and i'm thinking the best on those are yet to come. downside is i'm not a huge fan of the stock angle and think it could be slightly longer. still, it's very cool looking, and fun to shoot, but I still won't choose it over my ar 9mm build to compete with, until there is a better trigger kit and more upgrades available for it
  4. i went and saw it right away when it came out, loved it. I had read all the reviews for it too and expected to be disappointed but wasn't at all. I think it was everything a fan of the first movie wanted. I just wish the barrel extensions they had on their desert eagles were real, I'd need to buy some and make the desert eagle look even better. I hope you enjoy it.
  5. That's great Pete, I'm glad you didn't buy one yet, cuz i've got a used Trojan I can sell you for $5 I tied a knot in it to shorten it to 5 inch, and it's high cap, gotta have at least a half million of my kids in it. Once fired.
  6. I think it's great scheduling, considering the host club has to coordinate with 4 other active USPSA clubs in this section alone, make sure the dates don't interfere with the host clubs other activities of Cowboy Action shooting and Idpa. Way to go Harvard! Dates don't conflict with any other USPSA major matches, held before the Nationals, low entry fee, nearly immediate results, and I'm sure it'll be challenging, as all your matches are.
  7. I've been using promo in the 9, 45, and 40 for years. I shoot a lot of shotgun, and switched over to promo for the 12ga probably 5 or 6 years ago. Figured it's essentially red dot, so I can use it in my pistols too, tried it, and found nothing wrong with it. Guns worked, didn't blow up cases or guns. Now the data is there, that's good. I don't shoot those calibers at USPSA matches, and I don't use those guns terribly often, so I am not concerned with the velocities they were putting out. Yes, it's a dirty powder. But that's totally acceptable to me due to the low price. The powder isn't so dirty that it would cause jams after a couple hundred rounds or anything, it just smoked some, and left a bunch of crud in the guns. Nothing rem oil and some paper towels wouldn't clean out. E3, word in the shotgun community is, it is much cleaner than the promo, but then, it's more expensive too, and I'll spend the money saved on expensive powders for the 38super instead.
  8. thanks for the Congrats Elye, and for all the time you guys put into setting this match up and running it. Gotta give credit to GTOShooter who helped me with how to shoot the Amazing Maze, woulda been lost without you Steve! and my less than a year old SVI which tossed me into Master and my first major win, all in the same month. Thanks to all the sponsors and match staff who made this match possible.
  9. Will prizes will be awarded by chance; through a drawing, or by order of finish? I know last year it was by raffle/drawing, and that's exactly the opposite of what it seemed the membership of Area 7 wanted based on the results of Rob's survey on his web page. Please let us know, as I know it is a significant decision on whether or not a number of us will shoot the match. Thanks Scott Matt
  10. and Beta C mags for a good price! wish i could get a beta c mag for my SVI Monday could be a beautiful day
  11. i know I had fun, and I'll surely be back next year if it's in the same place, or closer. Fun challenging match guys! thanks for putting it on
  12. Hey Mark, I'm going for sure. I would encourage everyone else in the area to go also. Why? Because the match benefits the Aware charity. (arming women against rape & endangerment) and considering the statistics say that one in four women have been raped, chances are you know someone who has been, and I'd say the best thing you can do is contribute to an organization that seeks to educate and help women from experiencing this most heinous of crimes. Plus, it's a major match and part of the point series. See ya in Vermont.
  13. traffic getting onto the cape on a sunday morning is no problem.... it's the getting off the cape if we aren't out by 1 I'll up the bidding to 350 and a bottle of Captain Morgan. That way I can have the entire Dillon line on my reloading bench. Maybe i should paint my bench blue. Nah, i'd have to clean it off.
  14. I like the concept of prize tables, not that i've ever gotten anything from them at the nationals, but I do like the fact that it rewards accomplishment and isn't this prizes by raffle concept which i think is utter B.S. especially at Area level matches. If I wanted a raffle, I'd take that hundred something plus dollars and buy a bunch of powerball tickets and try to win a hundred million dollars. But we're in a competition, which means winners should be rewarded. I say keep the Nationals prize table as it is, if i dont get something, i didn't earn it, that's my fault. As for location- I love that description of San Angelo. I have no idea where it is, sounds like a Texas name, but I like the amenities listed. Get out of Barry, it's been there so often, and there isn't all that much to do after you're done shooting. Las Vegas was wonderful, and they didnt have any trouble selling that match out. I would like to see it rotate so other people have an opportunity to attend and not travel as far. I heard Virginia was great. Sponsors- Don't charge them a thing. Let them come and set up. It's great to see all the new stuff and get to buy what i need without having to wait for mail order. If they must be charged something, keep it nominal, like the amount charged for a table at a gun show.
  15. "Anyone who checks out the scores at Area and Nationals matches will see that a person's classification bears little or no resemblance to final placing for the majority of shooters." I think that is an absolutely unfounded statement. I know at every major match I have shot in the last 4 years I have finished within + or - 10% of my actual classification %. And that directly translates into where I finish in standings. If one examines the results closely you will always see the majority of the same class of shooter finish around each other. The classification system does work. It is not up to the system to police abuse of the system, that is up to individuals and the clubs the classifiers are being shot at. The system itself cannot maintain the integrity of the shooters. Blaming the existence of the classification system for the abuse of the system through numerous reshoots by certain individuals makes about as much sense as blaming handguns for shootings. If someone goes and gets themselves overclassed artifically high, so be it. Serves them right when they go become a Master and go out and get spanked by a bunch of B shooters at the Nationals. I am not at all bothered by that, it is poetic justice.
